I have been in Taiyuan, the provincial capital of Shanxi, for two years since I     1     (admit) to a PhD program in Shanxi University as an international student from Bangladesh.

Over the two years, I found myself     2     (fall) in love with Shanxi and China. I liked to cycle on the streets in Taiyuan and visit places I encountered     3     (random). The cycling tours helped to deepen     4     (I) understanding of the city. In my eyes, Taiyuan is a city     5     both history and modernity.

The city has     6     history of more than 2,500 years, the longest among all cities in China. An abundance of well-preserved ancient     7     (structure), like the temples in Jinci, the double pagodas in Yongzuo Temple, are the material evidence to help you get a glimpse into     8     ancient China looked like. Taiyuan is also a fast-growing modern city. It is ranked among the world’s top 500 cities in terms of     9    (science) research according to a recent Nature Index rating.

I hope more international students come to study in Shanxi University and to live and work in China     10     is full of opportunities.

Zhang Guimei, devoted to education in China’s southwestern borders for 40 years, is     1       “mother” for more than 170 children, motivating young girls from poor families in mountainous areas. She has lit up hopes of many for education.

Zhang was born in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang province in 1957. She came to Yunnan province at 17,     2     (respond) to the call of the country to support the development of border areas. Teaching at a middle school there, she saw the low     3     (admit) of girls to high school. It saddened her so much to find out that these girls     4     (abandon) their school work long before due to poverty.     5     , Zhang decided to build a free all-girl high school in 2002, in hope of changing the destiny of the girls in the mountain.

In 2007, Zhang went to Beijing as a deputy for the 17th CPC National Congress. Her speech “I Have a Dream”     6     (address) at the meeting made her dream of building a free all-girl high school known     7     all. A year later, the school was completed as the first free all-girl high school in China.

On June 29, Zhang     8     (award) July 1st Medal at a ceremony in Beijing,     9     she said she did this out of her gratitude and love for the country, as well as her identity     10     (origin) as a CPC member. As long as she was still capable, she would stand in the classroom to give her all without regret.

I was often told by my mother and grandmother that worrying is not only a sin（罪过), but    1     waste of time.

I    2     (start) worrying when I was four, the day my brother Joe was born prematurely ( 早产 )and hairless. He spent weeks in an incubator( 恒 温 箱 ), after    3     we were told he might never walk and was totally blind.

For Joe, things often seemed to go from bad to    4     (bad). Going to school meant leaving home as a little boy to live in a dorm.     5     (find)a job and a sense of independence would prove     6     (near) impossible.

He lives alone now in public housing.But for every heartache and disappointment, Joe has said thanks .He has taught me    7     example that gratitude builds hope. If we are mindful（ 想 着 ） of all the ways that we have been blessed, it's easier to believe we    8    （bless）again.

We need to see clearly like my brother--not with our eyes,     9     with our hearts. Gratitude is a light that shines in the soul, turning worry into hope, fear into joy, weakness into    10     (strong) and worriers into warriors.

China plans to establish a scientific station on the moon and has started preparatory research, according to a key figure in the country’s lunar exploration program.

“The next steps in our lunar exploration endeavor will be challenging and demanding as we aim to set up a     1    (science) outpost on the moon’s south pole. In the near future, we will also send our     2     (astronaut) to land on the moon,” said Wu Weiren, chief designer of China’s lunar exploration program and     3     academician (院士) of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, on Tuesday. He is now working on the planning and research     4     the proposed station and the lunar program’s fourth step.

In China’s    5     (late) lunar mission, the Chang’e 4 robotic probe(探测器),    6     consists of an unmovable lander and a rover(流浪者) named Yutu 2, was lifted on top of a Long March 3B carrier rocket in December 2018 at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Southwest China’s Sichuan province,     7     (mark) the country’s fourth lunar exploration and the world’s first expedition to the far side of the moon.

The probe made a landing    8     (soft) on the far side on Jan 3, 2019, and then released Yutu 2     9     (survey) the landing site in the South Pole. So far, the lander and rover     10     (operate) for more than 610 days. Yutu 2 has traveled about 520 meters on the lunar soil.

Six hours and 32 minutes after three astronauts took off from a base in the Gobi Desert on a clear sunny morning,     1     (they) spacecraft, Shenzhou 12, joined with the station.

With that, the Chinese station,     2     (call) Tiangong or Heavenly Palace, became one of two places in orbit with residents. The completion of Tiangong will be yet another milestone for an ambitious space program     3     recent missions have included bringing samples back from the moon and     4     (land) a robotic rover（火星车） on Mars. Since the station remains     5     construction, the three astronauts’ main task is essentially to move in, begin installing     6     (equip) like cameras and start testing various functions, including life support and waste management.

China     7     (previous) launched two, short-lived model space stations, also called Tiangong, in 2011 and 2016. This one     8     (intend) to stay in space for a much longer time, serving for the next decade as a laboratory in orbit. Officials said the station would allow Chinese astronauts and scientists on the ground to carry out complex operations     9     do experiments in the weightless space environment. Over the past few years, China     10    (invite) international partners in at least nine experiments.
