1 . How to stay focused in class
Being relaxed during class is a bad habit, and it is also bad to your grade. Focusing in class not only proves to teachers that you are a capable student but also shows that you have the ability to control yourself, which will be very important.
Look at teacher and make eye contact. Your teacher is not just standing up there talking.
Take notes. By taking notes, you’ll be able to “get into” the lesson. Write down key points as your teacher speaks. And listen to the key phrases such as “This is important” “This is the main idea” “This will be the test” etc.
Get involved in class discussions. This is a wonderful way to become a more focused, successful student. When a teacher asks a question, offer to answer it.

Recently, we had a hot discussion on if people should keep pets at home in cities or not. Some students think it is a good idea to keep pets because of many old people living alone can get comfort from them. Beside, getting along well with animals will make our life interested. However, some other students are against an idea. In their opinions, if too many people keep pets at home, it’s bad to the environment. What is worse, pets may make too much noisy and even attack people. I like animals, but I don’t think it is bad to keep pets at home. But we must take measures to keep them polluting our environment.

7 . Ford Motor Company has officially presented an electric version of its best-selling F-150 pickup truck (皮卡车), showing off its new model, the F-150 Lightning. Ford chief Jim Farley said it represented “a watershed moment” for the company. He added, it also marked “a very obvious and exact change” for the automobile industry. Ford plans to sell the vehicles in the spring of 2022.
The base model will cover 370 kilometers on one battery charge. Its size of the cab (驾驶室) and bed will be the same as its gas-powered F-150.Equipped with a longer-range battery the Lightning can pull the weight of 4,500 kilograms. This is equal to many gas-powered trucks, but it falls 1,350 kilograms short of Ford’s powerful V-8 engines.
With a starting price near $40,000, the F-150 Lightning will be available in four different versions. Owing to the federal tax policy, the price of the base model falls to around $32,500, acceptable for most people. That is below the lowest-priced gas model of the F-150, which starts at $37,000. By comparison, Tesla’s electric Cybertruck has a starting price of $39,900, which is set to production in the winter of 2022. GM’s first electric pickup the GMC Hummer EV, which will go into production in the autumn of 2022, will be priced at least $80,000.
With its new vehicle, Ford is aiming to be highly competitive with other companies in the electric truck market, especially, Tesla and General Motors (GM). The F-150 Lightning seems to offer buyers a vehicle that is also good for the environment and saves on fuel costs. While electric vehicle sales in the U.S. are rising, the overall share of the market is still very low. This year, through April, automakers sold about 108,000 fully electric vehicles (EV) in the U.S. That is nearby twice the number from the same period last year. However, auto industry researcher Edmunds reports that EVs still account for only 2 percent of U.S. vehicle sales.

8 . In the United States, some once-loved stores are trying to understand decreasing sales, such as jewelry store Tiffany & Co, clothing store the GAP, and motorcycle store Harley Davidson. They are more than shopping places—they are brands, public images strongly linked with an object or a person.
But today’s younger Americans are not as interested in buying things from these brands as their parents. Instead, a store like Target has gained the attention and money of so-called millennials, people who became adults in the 21st century. Target is the 8th largest seller in the country. One reason is that it has changed its stores for a new generation of shoppers. For example, it started offering more natural foods and designer clothing. It also created a showroom for the latest kinds of things for the home.
Target’s success shows that the in-store experience remains important. Just 11 percent of retail sales (零售) are done on the Internet in America. That means 89 percent of buying is done in the traditional way: walking into a store. Target noticed that millennials are the country’s largest living generation. They want new things, not the old brands they grew up knowing. They also want adventures and experiences. Finally, they are very concerned with brands that feel authentic (真实的). Millennials think a real brand has a personality. In addition, the brand itself has values.
Brands that fail to appeal to young shoppers can quickly find themselves in trouble. Take Harley Davidson as an example, sales of motorcycles there have been decreasing since 2014. Now, young people prefer to use ride-sharing companies to move around. And most young people today do not shop at the Gap, whose clothes are so common that they look like a uniform for young Americans. Millennials want items that seem to be special.
