文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章说明了父母应该如何帮助青少年建立友谊。

1 . One of the most important ways to help your child with their friendships is to have open communication with them.    1    . This is more important than you focus on telling them what you think. However, here are a few points to pass on to your teenager when talking about friendships.

Meeting possibilities

2    . Sometimes, friendships are developed because of shared interests, or activities. Other times, social relationships develop between people who may not seem to have much in common but for whatever reason.

Practicing forgiveness

Friends sometimes hurt each other, but they can always apologize and forgive each other.    3    . However, also be sure to pass on the message that some friendships may not be worth saving, particularly for some bad behaviours. In those conditions, it’s fine to walk away.

    4

Who your teen chooses to be their friend is important. They might choose friends who share similar interests and histories with them. The most important things to look for are whether or not the person will be a good friend and if your teen enjoys spending time with them.

Putting in the work

It takes many learned skills to make and keep a friendship. It also takes many skills to end a friendship. The reality is that most friendships will experience conflict, and friends will have to work through it to keep the relationship or part ways.    5    .

A.Building closeness
B.Choosing friends wisely
C.Moreover, aim to listen to what they have to say
D.A good friend will make you feel good about yourself
E.Everyone is allowed to have many friends and many types of friends
F.If a friendship is becoming hurtful, ending the friendship is a clever choice
G.Good relationships are worth the work to repair the damage caused by any miscommunications

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要说明了科技在保护生物多样性中的重要性。

2 . China has built in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, the Germplasm (种质) Bank of Wild Species, a comprehensive national database for the collection and preservation of wildlife germplasm resources. As of the end of 2020, the bank preserved 85,046 copies of 10,601 wild plant seeds for protecting wildlife germplasm resources. Preserving dried and frozen seeds, the bank provides technological support for the protection and research, makes use of China’s wildlife germplasm resources, and plays a major part in international biodiversity conservation.

The importance of science and technology for biodiversity conservation is increasingly obvious. When remote sensor monitoring was not available, agricultural technicians had no choice but to go for field studies, which could barely meet the need for large-scale, fast and nondestructive (非破坏性的) monitoring of crop conditions and timely prevention and control of diseases and pests. Nowadays, remote sensor monitoring has been applied in agricultural production in China, allowing agricultural technicians to analyze the movements of insect pests and evaluate plant diseases and insect pests by monitoring remotely the vegetation growth, coverage, surface temperature, humidity and other indicators.

In the Internet era, information technology has made the processing of massive data possible and created wider and more convenient platforms for biodiversity conservation in China, including Chinese Virtual Herbarium, Plant Photo Bank of China, and National Animal Collection Resource Center. The emergence of databases and digital programs in recent years is driving China to turn around its seriously threatened biodiversity.

From the collection and storage of information to the management and analysis of resources, the constantly improving biodiversity information network has realized the exploration and use of massive biodiversity data, providing a solid foundation for China’s biodiversity conservation and research. Biodiversity conservation and science and technology are inextricable. Only by making science and technology a strong support for biodiversity conservation can humankind guard the Earth and build a beautiful world of harmony among all beings on the planet.

1. What can we learn about the bank from paragraph 1?
A.Its crisis.B.Its administration.C.Its role.D.Its staff.

B.Go to fields to control the plant diseases.
C.Analyze the tracks of the pests of plants.

3. What does the underlined word “inextricable” in the last paragraph probably mean?

3 . 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

When I was in middle school, my family moved to Seattle, where my parents started their new business — a small grocery store downstairs my house. As a girl of shy and reserved nature, I had to take a fresh start to fit into the sophisticated city life.

One sunny day, my school announced an exciting event, a talent show for the local food bank. Students were encouraged to showcase their unique talents in front of the public in the city hall on National Day. A buzz of excitement fed the school as everyone began preparing for the big day. Deep down, I felt a spark of curiosity and a desire to participate. However, my self-doubt held me back, “I don’t have any special skills to share.”

Days turned into weeks, and the talent show drew closer. I couldn’t shake the upsetting feeling until one day, Emma, one of the most popular girls in my class, came to me while I was helping in the grocery store after class. “How about singing together in the talent show?” She grinned, “I heard you singing a tune, along the way back home. I can’t help following you here.” Gosh, I couldn’t believe my ears. Emma, with personality and popularity, acknowledged my little talent. Since Emma had the world’s prettiest voice, I felt like being favoured by fortune.

“You two? The talent show for the food bank?” My mum bent towards us and her face lit up. “A big occasion.” Then a light bulb seemed to go in her head. “Why not practise right now upstairs? I bet you’ll be a perfect match.” Winking at us, she seemed to know we were thinking alike.

Emma and I embarked on rehearsing almost every single day after school. We brainstormed, exchanged ideas and rehearsed the scene. As the days rolled by, I was feeling pretty good about our act. But the day before the performance, Emma called that she had an acute stomachache and was not in any shape to perform.

文章大意:本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。文章主要讲述青少年和父母之间发生的冲突及解决方案。

4 . Conflict (冲突) between teenagers and parents happens for a lot of reasons. Sometimes conflict happens between teenagers and parents just because conflict happens between human beings anyway. Humans have different needs, different feelings, different opinions about what they want, and the relationship with people can be really difficult. However, teenagers can cause further conflict because of the hormonal (生理的) changes that are happening and the stage of life that they're in.

Teenagers and parents have different understanding about rules and at times they find it difficult to look into the future. So parents and teenagers will often experience conflict about many things, do chores, homework, whether teenagers speak respectfully or not and about what they're allowed to do.

Before we think about rule boundaries (界线) for teenagers, we need to make sure that we have a really good relationship base. There's no point saying “From now on, you have to listen to me”: if you don't have a positive relationship with your teenager. We need to go back and make sure there is some degree of shared respect, and some degree of positive communication and enjoyment being together. you do that first, it means that rule boundaries are a lot easier to set up.

Often we're dealing with conflict on the fly. This is not the right time to be dealing with it. We really want parents and teenagers to sit down and think about the kinds of things that may happen in the house before the problems come. The more detailed your rule boundaries are for teenagers, the more likely it is that they are going to follow them. So this means we don't have rule boundaries like “Have the bathroom cleaned”. It needs to be “The floors mopped, nothing on the countertop and the mirrors cleaned by ten o'clock every Saturday”: Rule boundaries need to be written down, and set out ahead of time so the teenager knows exactly what's expected.

1. What's important to set up a rule boundary easily for teenagers?
A.Being strict from the start.B.Developing a good relationship with them first.
C.Saying"No" to their requirements.D.Avoiding close talks with them.
2. Which of the following rules are teenagers most likely to follow?
A.Doing some housework.B.Having a good reading habit.
C.Cleaning the bathroom.D.Finishing your homework by five.
3. What do the underlined words "on the fly" in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.In a hurry.B.On the plane.C.By oneself.D.Another day.
4. What's the best title for the text?
A.Growing PainsB.Teenage Problems
C.Parent-Child Conflict and SolutionsD.Knowing the Conflict
