2 . How to love your parents
It is well said that family is the kingdom of father, the world of mother and the paradise (天堂) of children. However, do you really know what each letter of the word “family” stands for? Obviously, F stands for Father; A is and; M means mother; I, L and Y are short for “I Love You”! Now, it’s quite easy for you to be aware how to deal with the tensions between you and your parents.
Here are some ways to love your parents.
Respect them more and cherish these moments. You can use these moments to learn from them, preparing yourself for when you’re off on your own. It’s OK to get angry but angry actions don’t help you or your parents. Act calmly, cool off, write down your feelings, or talk to a friend.
Obey their requests. It will make your attitude better and earn you more respect from them. It may seem like you are going through a hard time when you don’t get what you want or you have to clean. However, you had better remember they keep a roof over your head when it’s cold, raining, snowing or too hot. Understand that parents are human beings who will make mistakes as well.
Keep company with them. Do things with your parents like watching TV, or going somewhere with them.
A.Forgiveness is the key. |
B.Tell them you love them every morning. |
C.Parents will in turn express their love to you. |
D.After this, share your feelings with your parents. |
E.Anyway, spend as much time with them as you can. |
F.Please remember parents are as important as friends. |
G.You may think that your parents are mean-spirited at times. |
“Can I see my baby?” the happy new mother asked. When the baby was lying in her arms, she moved the fold of cloth gently to look upon his tiny face. Dumbfounded (目瞪口呆的), she held her breath and tears welled up in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. The doctor turned his head quickly and looked out of the tall hospital window. The baby had been born without ears. Time, however, proved that the baby’s hearing was perfect. It was only his appearance that was a pity.
One day, when he rushed home from school and threw himself into his mother’s arms, he cried out bitterly and told his mum in a choked voice, “A boy, a big boy… called me a freak (怪人).” The mother sighed, knowing that his life was to be full of endless unfortunate heartbreaks.
Though the misfortune happened to him, he grew up into a handsome boy. A favorite with his fellow students, he might have been class president, but for the ears. He developed a gift, a talent for literature and music. Yet he felt ashamed when he communicated with others. “But you might communicate with other young people,” his mother blamed him, with a kindness in her heart.
The boy’s father talked with the family doctor about his ears. “Could nothing be done?” the father asked. “I believe we could transplant on a pair of outer ears, if they could be donated.” the doctor replied. From then on, the search for a person, who was willing to make such a sacrifice, began.
How time flew! Two years went by. One day, the father said to the son, “You’re going to the hospital, son. Mother and I have found someone who will donate the ears you need. But remember it’s a secret.”

Valuable Lesson-My Favorite Superhero
After helping his mother Mary sweep, the street as usual, Jack waved goodbye to her and rushed to school. Reminding Jack of safety, Mary smiled and continued her work, with sweat streaming down. Weak and tired as she was, this brave woman still stuck to her job attentively.
In the classroom, Mrs. Evans asked her students to deliver a speech, themed My Favorite Superhero. As for the heated topic, the class got thrilled, hardly waiting to share their opinions. Finally, it came to Jack’s turn. “My favorite superhero.” Jack started to read in front of the class, then he stopped. He was nervous and felt a bit silly, because his classmates all talked about superheroes like Iron Man, Thor, and Wonder Woman while he was the only one who talked about a real person.
“Go on, Jack.” Mrs. Evans encouraged, nodding at him with smiling eyes.
“My favorite superhero is Mary, my mom.” the class burst into laughter. Jack smiled, too, and wet his lips, “You might laugh at me for saying something like that.” He turned calm and peaceful, “But my mom is the most hard-working person in the world. She is a street sweeper for the city, always getting up before sunrise to start her job. It’s her commitment that keeps the street spotless, just with a broom (扫把) and her heart. With autumn coming, I realized how hard it is and that a real superhero doesn’t wear a cape (斗篷) or go on adventures. Besides, she raised us three kids alone. She loves us in her way, and we can feel it. Though we’re short in money, we seem never lack anything. A real hero takes care of his family. I’m helping her before going to school and hope to grew up and be half the hero my mom is.Thank you.”
After the speech. silence spread in the classroom. It was evident that the entire class was moved by Jake’s speech and got speechless.
Finally, Mrs. Evans spoke. “That was fantastic. You teach us a mother’s bravery and love Your mom should be proud!” When returning to his seat, he received thumbs-up and admiring eyes from his classmates.

A young boy loved football with all his heart. But being half the size of the other boys, he got absolutely nowhere. At all the games, he hardly ever played. This teenager lived alone with his father. Even though the son was always on the bench during games, his father was always in the stands(看台)cheering.
This young man was still the smallest of the class when he entered high school. His father continued to encourage him. The young man was determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he’d get to play when he became a senior. All through high school he never missed a practice or a game, but remained a bench-warmer all four years.
His father was always in the stands, always with words of encouragement for him. This persistent young athlete never missed practice. but he never got to play in a game. It was the end of his senior football season, and as he was practising for the game on Saturday, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and became completely silent. Struggling to speak, he said to the coach, “My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today’’
The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, “Take the rest of the week off, son. And don’t even plan to come back to the game on Saturday.’’ Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. When the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his football uniform. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were surprised to see their faithful teammate back so soon.
