From taking on a project to discovering a new part of town, summer is the best time to have loads of fun and prepare yourself for the next school year or the world beyond the classroom.

Learn a language to make new friends. There are few things more fun than being able to speak another language.    1    . Then find learning resources online. You can also look for opportunities to experience your new language in your community. For example, if you’re learning French, browse your local free newspaper to find French cultural activities in your area.

    2    . You can learn to create a website from the very beginning with HTML. Or, you can learn to create a website without computer language skills on a publishing platform like WordPress.    3    when your website is up and running. You can share links to your website on social media to build your personal brand, which looks great on college and job applications.

Find a job to earn some money.    4    . To make the most of your vacation and earn enough cash for fun activities, apply for jobs that interest you. If you like animals, for example, consider applying for a part-time job at a pet store.

Research colleges to find out which one suits you. Every college has a website, so start by visiting college websites that have majors that interest you. You can also read college review websites like USA Today and The Princeton Review to get a sense of things like how much colleges cost and what students think about their schools.     5    . On August 1st, 2022, we jointly celebrated the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army with its     1     (big)ever program of events and celebrations. From the frontier to the southeast coast across China, tens of thousands of Chinese people held diverse activities to celebrate the     2     (arrive)of the Army Day.

Ninety-five years ago, more than 30,000 northern expedition soldiers,     3     (lead)by the Communist Party of China, fired the first shot against Kuomintang reactionaries in Nanchang, Jiangxi province. After that, through a fierce battle of all night the Nanchang Uprising troops     4     (capture)Ruijin,     5     the August 1st Army Day was born finally.

Fun and diverse curriculum

Valentine’s Day in China

It is really difficult to know the exact time     1     western Valentine’s Day was introduced into China. However, western Valentine’s Day is     2     (wide) celebrated in urban areas where there are a lot of commercial (商业的) events, especially in big cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Guangzhou. Valentine’s Day is not so popular in small cities,     3     (town) and the countryside.

So far, Chinese people     4     (accept) the tradition westerners on celebrating Valentine’s Day, such as     5     (exchange) gifts, having a romantic dinner, watching a movie in the evening or even making a marriage registration if Valentine’s Day falls on a workday.

On this day, larger amounts of chocolate will be on sale in supermarkets,     6     compared with the ordinary days, cinemas will be much     7     (busy) and the price of flowers and restaurants and hotels can be a lot higher. Many restaurants will have special menus, especially those in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.
