After supper, Li Hua came and asked me go and see a film with him. In our way to the cinema we saw the little girl sitting by the roadside cry. We bring her a cake to stop her crying. But when we asked where she had lived, she said she did not know. So we took her to the police station and asked the police to take care for her. After this, we went to the cinema, but when we got there, the movie was near at its end. Though we missed the movie, we did a good deed. We felt very happily.

I have always dreamt returning to my childhood. Just as many people say, childhood is the happier time in one’s life.
I grow up in the countryside. There are many high mountains, colorful flowers and different kind of trees. Often my parents took me to go hiking and caught insects. My grandma, whose seemed to be full of vivid memories, always shared his stories with me. She told me that I was such gentle and quiet that she never felt worrying about me. Now it is 5 years since that she passed away. I still miss her very much!

6 . Twelve-year-old Amanda Clement raced to the ballpark across the street from her house in Hudson, South Dakota. She couldn't wait to join her brother, Hank, and the boys for a game of baseball.
Would they let her play? She could throw, run and bat as well as any of them, but they let her play only when they needed her. She would have to umpire again. At least she could be part of the game. Amanda knew all the rules, and the boys could count on her.
Over the next few years, local teams began asking her to judge their games, too. One summer day in 2018,Amanda and her mother traveled to Hawarden, Iowa, to watch Hank play in the championship semiprofessional game. Two local teams decided to play a game be- fore the semiprofessional teams. Amanda agreed to be the judge. As Amanda finished the morning game, she saw two men walking toward her. To her surprise, they were the manag- ers of the semiprofessional teams and were impressed with her judge and wanted her to judge the afternoon championship game. They would even pay her. The 16-year-old girl was about to become the first female paid to be a judge of a baseball game. Amanda was calm and confident and judged fairly. She was right on the spot, watching closely.
Newspaper reporters said that she was absolutely fair. Managers began to ask for her first when they needed a judge. Amanda was popular with the fans, too. In one game, the audience weren't happy with the judge and insisted on replacing him with Amanda. Being a judge was hard work. Amanda judged for the whole game, and she worked in all kinds of weather. She said, "It isn't as easy as it looks, but for all that, there is a good deal of enjoyment in the work. You have got to have confidence in your ability or you won't do well in anything.”

9 . My wife and I were at a crowded grocery store not long ago. It was a weekday evening, cold and wet-and tense. People were carelessly blocking aisles, complaining and cutting one another off with their carts.
Things got worse at the checkout line. The cashier scanned a man’s discount card, but he misread the savings on her screen as an additional charge. He decided she was acting deliberately and began to argue.
“She is being spiteful (恶意的) !” he yelled. “This is unbelievable.”
Other customers looked away as the cashier tried to reason with him. She called a manager, who accompanied him to customer service. Shaken, she moved to the next customer in line.
We’ve all witnessed uncomfortable scenes like this in public places. The grocery scene was another example of how our trust in others has eroded. But it was also a teachable moment on how we can rebuild our faith-starting with just one person.
Back at the grocery store, my wife and I reached our uneasy cashier. I grabbed a bottle of water from a nearby cooler and handed it to her. “We felt bad about how that man treated you and wanted to buy this for you.” I said. Her face lit up, and we talked as she scanned our items. She told us she had been working that evening through severe foot pain and would be having surgery later that week. We wished her well in her recovery, and she thanked us as we left.
Those are the balancing acts, the moments of responding social and emotional pain with healing, which will add up to restore trust among people. You can start that pattern in someone else’s life, even in a place as ordinary as the neighborhood grocery store.
