It was Mother’s Day morning last year. My five-year-old son, Tenyson, and I     1     (leave) the supermarket after shopping when an old woman fainted, fell over at the entrance and hit her head on the ground. At the front of the supermarket, a charity group was selling flowers     3     ( raise) funds. Tenyson suggested that we should buy the lady a flower. “ It will make     4     feel better,” he said. I was amazed that he’d come up     5     such a sweet idea. So we went to the flower seller to buy a flower for the lady.

By now rescuers and physicians had arrived, and were attending the     6     ( injure) woman. As we walked up to her, my son became frightened by all the blood and medical     7     (equip). He said he was just too scared to go up to her.

Instead I gave the flower to the woman’s husband     8     told him,“ My son was very upset about your wife and bought her this flower to cheer her up.”

The old man was moved and said, “Thank you so much. You have a good son. Happy Mother’s Day to you.”

The man then gave his wife the flower,     9     (tell) her whom it was from.     10     badly hurt, the old lady looked up at Tenyson with thanks in her eyes and gave him a little smile.

Every Thanksgiving my family and I, along with others, prepare and serve Thanksgiving meals for the people in our small mountain community. My husband and I also bring meals to the disabled.

This Thanksgiving we did     1     same. After delivering them to some individual apartments, we went to the     2     (centre) dining room. We put the boxes filled with Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and some other foods on the tables. People invited     3     (we) to stay, and thanked us,     4     we had other deliveries and had to leave. As we started to go out, I turned around and saw them all     5     (watch) us. Then I asked, “Would anybody like a hug?” They lined up. There was so much     6     (warm) in each hug.

This year at my Thanksgiving delivery, when they line up     9     their hugs, I am going to have them turn around and hug each other. Thirty years ago, an elderly Canadian couple undertook     1    unique project with the intention of     2     (help) Canadians have a better understanding of China .Their efforts resulted     3    the birth of a 1985 book, Understanding China through cartoons . They     4    (official) donated it to China on June 10, 2019 .     5    (promote ) knowledge about China among Canadians, they founded a society in the early 1970s,     6     is now known as the Canadian-China Friendship Society. Once upon a time, there was a mother who lived alone with her son. They worked very hard all year round but they still couldn’t live a     1    (comfort) life. They really looked forward to     2    (make) their life better, but didn’t know how.

One year, a merchant came to the village. He needed to spend some weeks there. The merchant was so kind-hearted     3       he made a     4    (decide) to help the poor mother and her son. But one day, the woman talked to her son, “The merchant will leave sooner or later. After he leaves, we’ll live poorly again. Since he lives alone and isn’t always at home, we can go and get all his money.” But the son     7    (immediate) refused to do so, saying, “Oh, no, Mom! We should never do that, He helps    8     (we) a lot! We should be grateful to him instead     9     robbing him.” Having heard her son’s words, the woman gave up her terrible idea. When the merchant left, he     10    (take) the son with him and taught him how to do business. And the son returned as a successful merchant.

One Saturday afternoon，my mother was driving home. On the halfway，after pulling out her credit card to buy something at the store near the gas station，she put her wallet on     1     top of her car just for a moment     2    (answer) my phone call. And then obviously，she forgot and drove off. When arriving home，she realized that and thought the chance     3    getting it again was small.

She was so joyfully surprised when she found a note     4    (stick)on her door from a person who said he and his friend found her wallet a few hours earlier. Patrick and Catherine saw the wallet in the middle of the road a few blocks from the gas station. They stopped their car to pick it up. It was filled with all the things one    5    (natural)kept in a wallet，some bills and some cash included. However，no phone number，regardless of this，they    6    (manage)to get an address from my mother’s driving licence，and without hesitation，they decided to drive to our home to return it.

Once a young man was passing by a street,     1    he saw an old man begging for money. That old man was sitting there with     2     empty bowl in front of him,and a cardboard sign was put up beside the bowl. There was a sentence     3    (write) on the cardboard: "Blind — Please help!"

The young man felt very bad that no one planned     4    (give) him any money. So he went to the old man and took his cardboard in his hand. He then took a thick marker pen out of his pocket and re-wrote the sign quickly and then left. The old man noticed that someone was writing something     5    (differ) on the board but didn't say anything.

Just in a few minutes, that empty bowl     6    (fill) with money. The old man noticed that and stopped a stranger and asked him     7     was on that cardboard. The stranger replied, "It says,'It's a beautiful day. You can see it. I cannot.'"

Our    8    (choose) of words and language plays an important role    9     expression. If we choose the right words, then we can     10    (true) connect with people and change their views.

A lady, who found it not easy to wake up early, bought an alarm clock. These clocks are so made as    1     (strike) with a loud noise at any hour the owner pleases to set them. The alarm clock    2     (perfect) did its duty, and went off at the right time. She     3     (rise) at once, and felt better all day for it.     4    , after a time, the lady grew tired of early rising. When she     5     (wake) up by the noise, she merely turned over in bed and slept again. In a few days, the clock spoke just as loudly as ever, but she didn't hear    6     because she had been in the habit of not obeying it,     7     (find) that she might as well be without it, she was determined that when she heard the sound she would jump up.

So it is     8     conscience. If we will obey its voice, even in the smallest things, we can always hear it, clear and strong. But if we allow ourselves to do     9    we fear or may not be right, we shall grow more and more       10     (sleep) until the voice of conscience has no longer the power to wake us.
