Every day we hear about people making career changes. The opportunities exist.
Following are four practical steps towards coming to terms with why you do what you’re doing. Realize that your job does not define you, but how you do it does. There’s a lot to be said for attitude. Any job can be done well, done with compassion, done with care.
Find the significance in what you do. Take some time to really think about what you do. Do you provide an essential service? Do you get to see the finished product? Do you give direction that gets things done? Then ask yourself “How is this job done differently because I am doing it?”
Dare to ask yourself if it’s worth it. If you can’t find the part of your job that you like, or if you can see yourself turning into the person you said you would never be, consider the reasons. It may not be a new job that you need, just a new direction.
A.What you earn counts. |
B.Stop focusing on the money. |
C.Do you like yourself doing the job? |
D.Those help you make a wise judgement. |
E.Try to remember why you took the job in the first place. |

G.Your attitude at work and the way you treat people do not go unnoticed. |

Reading can make you understand life more. Then how to spend more time in reading?
Have a goal.
Some people set unrealistic goals for themselves like one book a week. Obviously you don’t have to be as radical as that. You can start by reading a book a month. Or a book every two month seven.
Read whenever you can.
Just start.
Sometimes our mind will make up all kinds of excuses not to do something. Not to get out of bed. Not to clean the house. Not to shower. The trick to get over this mental block is to just pick up the book and read!
Wherever I go, I’ve always got a book with me. Whenever I’m at home, a book is always near. That way, I don’t have to think much when the idea that I should maybe spend my free time reading comes into my head. I just grab the book and start reading.
Reading is a pleasure.

He had translated many novels by a little-known Scandinavian novelist, who he believed had been ignored and not received the attention or praise the novelist deserved. He had devoted much time to trying to get this novelist some recognition. The article agreed with his assessment of the novelist’s works mentioning long passages from his translations.
But something was missing. The translator searched in vain for a mention of his name. It didn’t appear anywhere. The translator’s joy at the coverage(报道)of the author he liked was considerably ruined by this. He felt that he himself should have had some recognition in the article. It was as if the translator did not exist, and all the efforts he had made had never happened.
Most people would agree that it was wrong of the magazine not to mention the translator. However, it is also true that most readers themselves operate in exactly the same way, and for them it is also as if the translator didn’t exist. When people read a translation of a novel, they want to feel they are reading what the novelist, and not someone else, wrote. They don’t want to be reminded that they are not reading, and would not be able to read, the original novel created by the novelist, not wishing to know who the translator was or pay any attention to what they have done.
In this global age, more and more works of fiction are being translated into more and more languages. Readers are now able to experience and understand other cultures more than ever through the reading of translated novels. So the works of more and more novelists can reach people in other parts of the world. This applies not only to new novels but also to fresh translations of old classics.

Since I started working part-time at a grocery store, I have learned that a customer is more than someone who buys things. To me, a customer is a person whose memory fails entirely once he or she starts to push a shopping cart. One of the first things customers forget is how to count. There is no other way to explain how so many people get in their express line, which is clearly marked 15 items(件) or less, with 20, 25 or even a cart load of items.
Customers also forget why they came to the store in the first place. Just as I finish ringing up an order, a customer will say, “Oops, I forgot to pick up a fresh loaf of bread. I hope you don’t mind waiting, while I go to get it.”Five minutes later, he’s back with the bread, a bottle of milk, and three rolls of paper towels. What is strange is that customers also seem to forget that they have to pay for their groceries. Instead of writing a check or looking for a credit card while I am ringing up the groceries, a customer will wait until I announce the total. Then, in surprise, she says, “ Oh no, what did I do with my check book?” After 5 minutes of digging through her purse, she borrows my pen because she has forgotten hers. But I have to tolerate customers because they pay my salary, and that’s something I can’t afford to forget.

A.business in the grocery store runs well |

C.the author’s part-time job calls for patience |
D.customers go to grocery stores without planning. |
