In China, there are many different kinds of foods. Some of them are very popular. The real Chinese food is dumplings. There are many different kinds of dumplings. Some have meat and vegetables in them, others have sugar, eggs and so on. I like dumplings with vegetables and pork better than any other kind.
Do you know how to make them? Let me tell you.
The first step is to mix the flour(面粉) with water. When the dough(面团) is ready, we can begin to make dumpling wrappers(薄皮). We make the dough into small, thin and round pieces so that they can be easy to cook. Then it’s time to prepare the filling(馅), usually, we use meat such as beef or pork, and some vegetables for filling. Remember to cut these things into small pieces, put some salt and oil into it and mix them.
When all these are done, we can start making dumplings. First put a spoonful of filling in the center of the wrappers. Then stick(粘) the two opposite sides together. The best shape of dumplings is like a ship. When they are boiling in the pan, they look like ships sailing in the sea. The smell can make your mouth water.

What meaningful things can I leave for my 5-year-old daughter?”
To a brave mother and strong woman,
Give your daughter the gift of a loving mother.
Instead of focusing too much on material things, share your memories and experiences. Write about your childhood, catching fish by the river, putting soot (煤灰) on your face, and trying on your mother’s makeup, blushing (脸红) as if you were drunk. Tell her about your teenage years, your marriage, and life’s challenges.
Record your voice, sharing thoughts on being a good person and true love. Make videos showing your feelings, smiles, and tears. Explain why you brought her into this world and how her life journey started. Teach her about life and death that we all face.
As your daughter grows up and learns from your stories, she will feel you are still there. She will know your worries about school and daily troubles, and your dreams, like becoming a pianist or finding true love.
She will see that you cried, laughed, and had a heart like hers. This understanding will guide her in life, helping her avoid problems and find her road. She will treasure her mother’s memories, even when others forget. This connection will last forever, and when she leaves this world, it will be a reunion (重聚) after years.
So, don’t cry or tear the end. Move forward, knowing your love and memories will bring light to your past and her future.
Farewell.
Sincerely,

A book begins when an author (作者) comes up with an idea for a book. Authors get ideas in different ways. They may get ideas from their own lives, from watching the world around them, or from reading.
Next, an author may plan the book by making an outline. Sometimes authors do research to gather information. They may read books or articles. He may interview people or visit places.

Finally, the author sends the completed manuscript to a publisher. If the publisher decides to publish the book, the author works with an editor (编辑). An editor reads the manuscript. Then he or she recommends changes to improve the book. A copy editor reads the manuscript to correct any grammatical mistake.
After an author makes the suggested changes, a designer may decide how the book will look. The designer may choose the size, shape, an illustrator is chosen to create pictures for the book.
The illustrator makes sketches of pictures that will go on each page. The sketches are sent to the publishing company. The editor makes sure the pictures clearly tell the story. The designer checks how the words and pictures will fit together on the pages.
After the design changes are made, the illustrator begins creating the final pictures. He or she may change the colours or the composition (组成) of pictures. It may take months to create all the pictures.
The finished art is then sent to the publisher. The designer adjusts (调整) how the pictures and words fit together on the pages. The completed pages are sent to the printer. Many books are still made into books with paper pages.

We often say,“When in Rome,do as the Romans do.”So when you eat Western food, do as westerners do. Here are some things that you may need to know about eating together in the West.
In some Western countries, lunch is usually eaten at about 1 pm. Dinner is served around 7 pm or even later. In Spain it is usual to have lunch at 3 pm and dinner at 10 pm!
At the start of a meal, the French say “Bon appetite”, and the Italians say “Buon appetite”. But there is nothing similar to say in English. “Enjoy your meal” is usually only said by the person who brings the food.
During the meal, you may be served by someone who asks, “Would you like some…?”You can take it and say “Thank you”. If you are given something you do not like, you can just say, for example, “I’m sorry, I don’t eat meat.” or “I don’t eat fish”. No one will be cross.
It is sometimes difficult to know when the meal is over. If you are invited to dinner by western friends, you will be expected to stay and talk around the dinner table long after the last dish is served, and it is not polite if you leave as soon as you finish eating.

When you study, do not think about other things at the same time. Only think about your homework. If you do this, you will do your homework more quickly, and you will make fewer mistakes(错误).

From tiny seeds, great discoveries grow. A mini-garden carried on China’s Chang’e 4 Moon Lander recently became home to the first plant to grow on another world.
This is yet another success for Chang’e 4. On January 2, the probe(探测器)became the first lander to touch down on the far side of the moon. This is the unknown face of the moon that is always looking away from us, so we never see it from down here on the earth. Although it is often regarded as the dark side of the moon, the far side actually gets as much sunshine as the near side. For example, when all we can see is a silver of a new moon, the far side of the moon is in full sunlight.
Part of Chang’e 4’s mission is to see how a moon base could be built for humans , including exploring(探索)whether humans could grow food and other plant products there, Chang’e 4 carried a mini-garden with air, water and soil with seeds planted in it. When plants shoot on the earth, their stems(茎)grow away from the gravity(the force that keeps your feet on the ground), and so they always shoot upwards. The moon’s gravity is a sixth as strong as the earth’s, so Chang’e 4’s experiment was a test: would the earth plants know which way was up on the moon? Four days after landing, a tiny cotton shoot showed that they do.
Night has now fallen on the far side of the moon; sunlight will not return until the start of February. As a result, the cotton shoots died. Besides the darkness, the plants can’t stand the cold(it can drop to - 170℃ on the moon at night). However, the experiment is a success, since it has proved that it is possible for plants to grow in space.
