Dear Nancy,

You asked about places to go and things to do in my town. Let me tell you now.

The Downtown Plaza is always fun. it’s a shopping area in the oldest part of town. There are some good stores and restaurants there. For example, Andrea’s Boutique is in Downtown Plaza. It’s a fun place to shop, and it has the best quality clothes.

My favorite restaurant in town is Nick’s Cafe. It is near my house. It’s cheap and its hamburgers are great. I like Drago n City Restaurant, too. You can eat wonderful noodles there and the beef noodles are the most delicious! You must try the dumplings, too! But the dumplings are more expensive than Nick’s.

The Suburb Cinema is the best movie theater. It has the biggest screen and the most comfortable seats. The Del Ray Complex is a good place to go to the movies, too. It doesn’t have the newest movies, but the tickets are cheaper.

Anyway, there are lots of things to do and see here. Come for a visit soon!

Love,

Helen

文章大意:本文主要讲述了作者去年八月份去莫斯科的旅行经历。

【推荐2】I love traveling and I am interested in Russian history and culture so I went to Moscow on August eighth last year. The Red Square in Moscow was the first place I visited.

After arriving at the Rossiya Hotel, I took a walk on Red Square. I found the square was in fact not that big, much smaller than I had expected. Maybe it was because I came from Beijing just a couple of weeks before, and I was comparing it with the really huge Tian’anmen Square.

One of the following days I visited Lenin’s Mausoleum (列宁墓). When I walked inside the mausoleum, I had to walk down some stairs, where there was no light. I even didn’t see the Russian security men standing on the sides, but I knew quickly enough they were there, because when I said to my friends, “It is dark here. I cannot see...”, they reminded me immediately about the “complete silence” rule!

Many Russian cities have a Kremlin (克里姆林宫), but the one in Moscow is always referred to as “the Kremlin”. Now inside the Kremlin walls, you can find a historic museum, different traditional churches, Ivan’s clock tower, the current government buildings and other modern buildings. One rule that our guide made clear quickly was that it is not allowed to walk anywhere but on the pavement! If you get off the pavement, you will be warned by the security officers.

I also visited many other places of interest in Moscow. I left there on August fifteenth.

All in all, this trip is very great! It makes me know more about Russia.
