Rob Frenette had problems with bullies (欺辱) at school for eleven years. He was often lonely and scared. When he was fifteen, however, he decided to do something about his problems. He walked into a newspaper office and told them about the bullying. His story went into the newspaper and soon all the TV stations in Canada wanted to talk to him about his experiences. They also wanted to hear his ideas to stop bullying.
After that, Rob continued his studies at school, but in his free time he helped other people with bullying problems. With a friend Katie Neu, he made a website called www. bullyingcanada. ca. Visitors to the website can find advice, stories and poems about bullying, in both English and French. When people are upset, they can talk on the phone or online to Rob and his team. Every weekend Rob has to answer e-mails to the website. He also speaks to children, teachers and members of government around the country about bullying.
Rob’s most important message is: “When bullies are unkind to you, it isn’t your fault. There’s nothing wrong with you, so you should try to keep trusting yourself. And remember that people care about your problems. You just have to find those people.”
One of Rob’s ideas is “Blue Day”, a special day for stopping bullying in schools. Students have to wear blue clothes and in class they learn how to stop bullying. More than 150 Canadian schools now celebrate Blue Day, but Rob won’t stop until there’s a Blue Day in every school in Canada.

However, in the past 2 years, many bikes have been seen on the street in many big cities across China. More and more people choose cycling instead of driving to schools, to workplace or to do sightseeing. Some new companies like Ofo and Mobike has begun to start the new business of the bike-sharing.
It is very convenient to use these shared bikes. People can unlock them by simply using their smartphones. There is GPS in each bike so that it can be left anywhere in public for the next user. They’re popular among many Chinese people because they solve the “last mile” problem. “It’s difficult to get to some places where there isn’t any subway. However, it’s easy to get where you want to go with Mobike.” Xiao Yu said. She often rides the bike to her workplace after she goes out of the subway station.
However, there are also some problems. In last December, a man who stole a shared bike was sentenced to a 3-month stay in the prison(监狱) and fined 1000 yuan by Shanghai People’s Court.
There are similar problems abroad. In Paris, the public shared bikes also had the problems of being broken or stolen at the beginning. Bikes were found hanging from streetlights or thrown into the Seine River. To deal with these problems, the company encouraged people to return the bikes to stations by giving more free time for their next rides.
Now, Chinese companies are also trying to solve the problems. For example, Mobike sets a 100-point credit score (信用分数) for each user. Once a score drops below 80, the bike user has to pay 100 yuan every 30 minutes instead of 1 yuan.
Bike-sharing is a greener method of transportation and provides the users with friendly experience. If all the users can follow the rules while using it, the life will be more convenient.

Also, it worries people that basic cooking and food preparation, skills are being lost because parents use too much pre-prepared fast foods. Cooking was once regarded as an important part of education in England—even if it was mainly for girls. In recent years cooking has become less important in schools. But the rising level of obesity (肥胖) has led to a rethink about the food that children are given and the skills they should be taught.
“What we want is to teach young people how to do basic, simple meals, which they can use now at home and then in their later life,” said Ed Balls, an education expert.
The new lessons will start in September, but some schools without kitchen will be given a longer time to prepare. Also there may be a shortage of teachers with the right skills, since schools have been teaching food technology rather than practical cooking. Besides, the lessons for hands-on cooking will only be one hour a week for one term. But the well-known cookery writer, Pru Leith, believes it will be worth it.
“If we’d done this thirty years ago we might not have to face the problem about obesity and lack of knowledge about food and so on. Every child should know how to cook, not just so that they’ll be healthy, but because it’s a life skill which is a real pleasure.”
The renewed interest in cooking is an effort to reduce the obesity rate, which is almost the highest in Europe, and according to the government, half of all British people will be obese in 25 years if present trends (趋势) are not halted.

【推荐3】Fights at school sometimes happen. But how can you keep away from a fight? Here’s something you can do.
Be calm. Sometimes, you feel so angry that you really want to teach somebody a lesson. But being angry can’t solve problems. Neither can a fight. Instead, you can bring yourself more problems. In the school, everyone involved in a fight will be punished, no matter who started it. There are no winners in a fight.
Shout loudly. If you know someone is coming up behind you to attack, turn towards the person with your hands up in front of your body and loudly say “stop” before walking away. Loud voice can usually make the attacker calm down. If the person doesn’t stop, cry for help by calling out the name of a teacher whose office is nearby.
_________ Your friend may ask you to join in a fight. Learn to say no. Helping him to fight is not really helping him. If you really want to give him a hand, try to persuade him to give up. When Shanghai introduced a new rubbish-sorting policy in July last year, the city’s residents (居民) took some time to get used to it. They joked that every time they took out their rubbish, the workers standing by the bins would ask, “What kind of rubbish are you?”
Starting on May 1, Beijing joined many Chinese cities by introducing a new rubbish-sorting policy, People’s Daily reported. Residents should sort their rubbish into four groups: kitchen, recyclable, hazardous (有害的) and other waste.
These groups are represented by four different colors of rubbish bins – green, blue, red and gray. Those who fail to sort their rubbish correctly may face fines of up to 200 yuan, Xinhua reported.
The way Beijing sorts its rubbish sounds different from cities like Shanghai and Qingdao. These cities use four different groups: wet, recyclable, harmful and dry. Although their names are different, the groups are actually the same. Wet rubbish in Shanghai is, in fact, kitchen rubbish. And dry rubbish is the same as other waste, China Youth Daily reported.
To help residents sort their rubbish correctly, the Beijing government is offering online guidelines. If people don’t know how to throw away rubbish, they can search for it on the WeChat account Guanchenglishi (管城理市) to find out. By searching a key word or taking a photo, people can immediately find out which group their waste belongs in.
