With four months to the start of the 31st Summer World University Games, this year’s host city, Chengdu, is ready to provide a special and wonderful event for the world.
The Heads of Delegation (代表团) Meeting was held on March 28 in Chengdu. A total of 79 delegations got together from around the world. They attended the meeting either in person or online.
The World University Games, hosted by the IUSF (国际大学体育联合会), are an important world games that are the second only to the Olympic Games in scale (规模). This year’s games will be held in Chengdu from July 28 to August 8.
As an important communication meeting for the host city and the delegations, the meeting will remind the delegations of preparation work, announce (宣布) the policies and procedures, and answer questions. It is a meaningful milestone along the road to the start of the Chengdu World University Games.

2 . Gui Haichao, the first Chinese civilian (百姓) to enter space, was born in 1986 in Baoshan, Yunnan. He has been a fan of science since he was young. In 2005, he went to Beihang University. After nine years of study, he got a doctorate (博士学位). Then he went to Canada for further study. He returned in 2017 and began to teach at Beihang University.
In 2018, China planned to choose its third group of astronauts and they would include not only pilots but also engineers. When Gui heard the news, he signed up without thinking.
