1 . Have you ever thought about what’s more important, looking fashionable or feeling comfortable? You might have noticed many people choosing style over comfort and some even go to extremes (极端) to follow fashion. But we should remember: being fashionable isn’t everything. It’s more important to be healthy.

Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good. So, they start extreme diets (日常饮食) that are not good for their health. They might not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a healthy way to live?

Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels (鞋跟). They might think high heels make them look taller. But these shoes may hurt their feet and make it hard to walk comfortably, and it can increase risks of falls. Some even wear tight (紧的) clothes that influence blood circulation (循环), making it hard to breathe (呼吸). Should we put fashion over comfort and physical health?

Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money changing their hair color. The things they use is usually harmful to their health. To make their hair straight or curly, they also use tools that are hot enough to burn their hair. But using these tools too often or at very high temperatures can make the hair dry or even burnt. Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money?

So, let’s rethink what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being? Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a person’s character. Instead of spending a lot of time choosing clothes, we could use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of following extreme diets, let’s eat properly and exercise more. Remember, your value is not decided by what you look like, but by who you are as a person.

Parents might find themselves shouting at children to get them to have healthy foods in fount of them. This in fact can make children dislike what they are asked to eat. You need to work a bit on different cooking methods.

Tip Five: Get Kids Included

Most kids will enjoy making the decision about food. Talk to them about making choices and planning a healthy meal. It can help them to make good decisions on their own about the foods they want to eat.

3 . There are many wetlands (湿地) in China and some of them have become the world’s important wetlands. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are among them. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are home for many different kinds of birds and animals. The world’s largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve is in them. More than 700 milu deer live freely there. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world, but every winter you can see some in the Red-Crowned Cranes Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands.

The temperature in the wetlands is usually neither too high nor too low. There is a lot of rain and sunshine, too. They are really good places for wildlife. Offering food and home for some special kinds of animals and birds is not the only reason why we need to protect wetlands. Wetlands are important because they also prevent flood. But some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. This means there will be less and less space for wildlife.

Luckily, more and more people are beginning to realize the importance of wetlands and wildlife. Every year, on February 2nd, many activities are held to tell people more about wetlands.

4 . Hi friends! My name’s Sandra and I live in Hilltown. It is in the south of England: It isn’t a very big town. About 9,000 people live here.

There are about thirty shops in Hilltown and there are three supermarkets. You can buy everything in the town that you need. There are two banks and a post office in Main Street. There is a police station and a library, too.

You can find a big market where you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and drinks. I like going to the market with my mum.

There are three churches in the town centre and there is a park, too. Children can play in the park because there is a playground. You can find some restaurants in our town, and there are five cafes. My favorite cafe is Icecave; it’s in Park Street and the ice cream is fantastic here!

There are three elementary schools and two high schools in Hilltown. My school is in Mill Street. We have got a very nice building. There is a sports centre next to our school. Every Wednesday afternoon we play volleyball.

If you want to see a film, you can go to the cinema in our town, but unfortunately there aren’t any theaters here.

I like living in Hilltown because it’s a calm and clean place. And people are friendly.

5 . Eco-friendly Lifestyle in Denmark

Denmark is one of the greenest countries in the world. People there are trying their best to make their country more beautiful.

People in Denmark take recycling seriously. Newspapers are printed on recycled paper.

Stores collect a deposit every time you buy a bottled drink. When you return the empty bottle, you get your deposit back. The bottle will be cleaned and reused. To reduce food waste, there is a food waste supermarket where people can buy the nearly-expired food at a low price. Even old clothes and shoes can be recycled. There are some organizations for recycling clothes. They collect old clothes from all over the country. Some of the clothes are sold in charity shops, some are given to the poor, and others are sent to factories for recycling.

Cycling has always been a Danish tradition. The government encourages the use of bicycles instead of cars. There are good bicycle paths with road signs and traffic lights all over the country. In the capital city Copenhagen, there are over 2, 000 bicycles that can be borrowed for free in public squares and train stations. Don’t be surprised if you find fewer cars on road because cars are heavily taxed in Denmark.

Denmark is starting to use energy from the sun, wind and water. For example, Denmark has been a wind energy leader for a long time. Nearly 42 percent of Denmark’s electricity is produced by wind power. These new types of energy cost very little and will never run out. Moreover, they produce little pollution.

Denmark has set a good example for other countries. Remember that everyone can do something to make a difference.

When you hear of Tang dynasty, you may think of Li Bai, one of the most popular poets in history. This summer, his life story came out on big screens in China in a new cartoon movie, Chang An. The movie mainly tells the life stories of Li Bai and his close friend Gao Shi. From the movie, people find it easier to better understand Tang dynasty. Surprisingly, forty-eight famous Tang poems appears in the movie.

We read Tang poems from an early age, but we knew little about the footprints of poets. Here comes a documentary (纪录片) from CCTV, called Follow the Poems to Travel. It gives you a way to know more — which places the poets visited and how they felt along the way. It took three years to make the documentary. The reporters interviewed 64 people who are interested in history and surveyed 58 places they visited. They finally chose the stories of five poets.

In the book Chang’an Ke, the writer Bei Mingyu tells the history with the life stories of the most famous Tang poets. When you read this book, you will find that those young people in Tang Dynasty were just like many of us today. They came to the city of dreams, showing their talents and hoping for a great success. Wang Wei was one of the talented ones. There were two worlds in his life. One is in Chang’an. When he worked, Wang was really somebody. The other is the world where Wang enjoyed the nature as a common man.

·Do you walk or ride a bike to school?

·Do you buy new clothes just because they are modern?

·Do you turn off the lights when you leave the room?

·Do you take your own bag when shopping and not ask for a plastic bag?

·Do you buy drinks in bottles? And what do you do with the bottles when they are empty?

·Do you divide the waste into things to recycle and things to throw away?

We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day, and it is harmful to our environment. Repeat these three words daily: reduce, reuse and recycle.

Reduce means “use less” . Do not waste things. It saves money and causes less pollution. Do not order more food than you can finish. Turn off the lights when you do not need them. Before you buy something new, think whether it is really necessary because maybe the old one is just as good!

Reuse means “use again”. Use things for as long as possible. Look after them so that they will last. Repair them if possible. Do not throw them away and buy new ones. Do not use paper cups or paper bags. It is better to use china cups and cloth bags because they can be used many times. Recycle Recycle means “change things into something else to be reused” Although it takes energy to change things into something else, it is better than throwing things away or burning them. We throw tons of rubbish away each year, and we have to make a change. Divide your rubbish into plastic, glass, paper and rubber. Develop a recycling policy for the whole community. Buy products such as recycled paper to help save trees.

We cannot hope for rapid change, but let’s take these simple steps today so that we will save the world for our grandsons and granddaughters tomorrow.

10 . Paper is one of the most important products ever invented by man. The invention of paper meant that more people could be educated because more books could be printed. Paper played an important role in the spread of knowledge.

Paper was first made in China about 2, 000 years ago. In Egypt and West, paper was not very commonly used before 1400s. Paper was not made in southern Europe until about 1100s. After that, the forestry (林业) countries such as Canada, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the United States became the most important countries in paper-making. Today Finland makes the best paper in the world. And it has the biggest paper industry in the world.

When we think of the paper, we think of newspaper, books, letters, envelops and writing paper. Paper plays an important role in our life.

Paper is also very good for keeping you warm. Houses can be insulated (隔离) with paper. You perhaps see homeless men sleep on a large number of newspapers. They are insulating themselves from the cold. In Finland, in winter it is sometimes 40 degrees below zero. The farmers wear paper boots (靴子) in the snow. Nothing could be warmer than that.
