1 . As we all know, environmental pollution is still serious nowadays. Our group wanted to know how many students knew about each kind of the pollution and we wanted to learn how often they sorted(分类) rubbish. So we did a survey among the students in our school. 3 . Hello, Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith and little Tom! I’m Lee Ling. It’s my honor to show you around our beautiful Suzhou. Suzhou, which lies in the east of China’s Jiangsu Province, is a well-known city with rich history and culture. Its beautiful scenery and classical gardens attract millions of tourists every year. There is a popular saying that “gardens in the south of the Yangtze River are the best in China, yet gardens in Suzhou are the best among the best”. So Suzhou is known as the Garden City. Records show that there are almost 200 gardens of different sizes in Suzhou. Among them, Lingering Garden (留园) is the most famous and best preserved. In 1997, the Lingering Garden has been added to the World Cultural Heritage List by the UNESCO.

Lingering Garden has a history of over 400 years. The garden was first built as a private (私人的) living place in 1583 by Xu Taishi, an official in Ming Dynasty. Covering an area of 33,000 square meters, Lingering Garden was divided into four parts: eastern, central, northern and western parts. The architectural structures mainly gather in the eastern part. Entering this area, you will see that doors are open upon doors and courtyards are linked with gateways and covered with corridors (廊道). You will lose yourselves in the unique buildings.

Look, Lingering Garden is in front of us. You can go to the ticket office to buy your tickets. Each ticket will cost you 55 yuan in tourist season, but children like Tom are half price. OK, this way, please.

6 . Kathy and Polly were friends but they liked playing tricks on each other.

One day Kathy met Polly in the street. She said, “Hi, Polly. It’s good to see you.”

“How can you see me when I’m not here?” Polly asked.

“What do you mean, you’re not here?” Kathy asked. “Of course you’re here.”

“No, I’m not.” Polly said. “and I’ll bet you ten dollars that I can prove I’m not here.”

“Alright,” said Kathy. “Ten dollars. Now prove you’re not here.”

“Easy,” Polly said, “Am I in Hong Kong?”

“No,” said Kathy.

“Am I in Paris?”

“No,” said Kathy.

“If I’m not in Hong Kong and I’m not in Paris,” Polly said, “then I must be somewhere else. Right?”

“Right,” said Kathy. “You must be somewhere else.”

“Exactly.” said Polly. “And if I’m somewhere else I can’t be here, can I? Ten dollars, please.”

“That’s very clever, Polly,” Kathy said, “but I can ‘t give you ten dollars.”

“Why not?” asked Polly. “We had a bet.”

“Certainly we had a bet,” Kathy said, “but how can I give you ten dollars if you’re not here?”

And with a laugh she walked away.

One day, while we were watching a film at home, I quietly left the room. Soon he realized he was alone and cried! As the eldest child of the three, I’m good at understanding the children younger than me. It has also made me more patient with younger kids and make more friends.

June 8, 2022 22: 35 My brother is good at fixing things. One day, when I was riding my bike. I found out my brakes (车闸) were broken. Luckily, I didn’t hurt myself. The next day, I found my bike was fixed well. My father said my brother repaired it with the brakes from my mother’s old bike. From this experience, I knew the great love from my brother and I also learned that I should always check my bike before using it!

June 8, 2022 22: 35 When I was four, my sisters and I had very little money. My eldest sister used to talk me into exchanging my old dirty coins for her new ones. What I didn’t realize was that the coins she gave me were worth less than the ones that I gave her! I learned how to count from it.
