What can you do when someone hurts(使受伤,使疼痛) you. Most people may be angry or even fight with the one who hurts him or her. But it’s not a good idea. The best way is to forgive(原谅,宽恕) him or her. Although(虽然,尽管) it is not easy for us to forgive people who hurt us. “Forgiveness makes people hopeful and it is good for our health.(A)”says Fredric, Ph. D the writer of the book called Forgive for God.
But how can we forgive others?
First, think of something beautiful and try to get yourself happy.
Second, don’t wait for others to say sorry to you. If some people hurt you, they won’t say sorry to you. They may just want to hurt you or they just don’t see things the same way.
Third, try to see things in others’ shoes.(B) You can write a letter to yourself from the offender’s(冒犯者) point. That can make you understand others better and make yourself happier.
At last, don’t forget to forgive yourself. For some people forgiving themselves is the biggest challenge and it also makes you more confident(自信的).

3 . It might be fun to use your smartphone, but be careful. Too much screen time may be harmful to your health.
First, it is bad for your eyes. A researcher called Sarah Hinkley says the problem comes from the blue light that the screen gives out. Looking at a smartphone for a long time can cause eye strain(劳损), headaches and dry eyes. So it is a good idea to take a break every 15 minutes when you are working at a computer or using a smartphone.
Second, screen use can do harm to children’s brains. A new study shows that using screens too much can affect(影响) how children’s brains grow. If children use screens for more than one hour a day, they might have lower levels of white matter in their brains. White matter is a key to the development of language and reading skills. So it is wise to cut down the time of children using all kinds of screens.
Third, using screens too much will affect your sleep. According to a study, about 95% of the people between the ages of 13 and 64 use electronics before bed, especially the young people under 20. Doctors say that the light from those electronics at night may make you excited before you go to bed. Then it’s hard for you to get enough sleep. You can travel by subway, bus, taxi and car. The subway runs on the railroad lines under the city. Traveling by subway is the fastest way to get around the city. The second way to travel around the city is by public bus. It is a slower way to travel. This is because the traffic is very heavy.
You can also travel around the city by taxi. This is very expensive, but the taxi will take you to the very place you want to. During the mornings and afternoons, there is the “rush hour”. This is the time when the traffic is very heavy with people going to and from work.
The last way to get around New York is using your own car. It’s not easy for you to drive because you will perhaps be driving during the “rush hour”.

5 . At my heaviest I weighed 370 pounds. I had a very poor relationship with food: I used it to kill bad feelings, to make myself feel better, and to celebrate. Worried about my health, I tried many different kinds of diets but nothing worked. I came to believe that I could do nothing about my weight.
When I was 50, my weight problem began to affect me seriously. I didn’t want to live the rest of my life with this extra weight any more.
That year, I attended a meeting where we were asked to create a project that would touch the world. In it, a leader shared her success story — she had not only lost 125 pounds, but also raised 25,000 dollars for homeless children.
Encouraged by her story, I created the As We Heal, the World Heals project. My goals were to lose 150 pounds in one year and to raise 50, 000 dollars in support of a movement started 30 years ago to end hunger. This combination (结合) of healing myself and healing the world made it the perfect solution for me.
I sent letters to everyone I knew and informed them about my project. It worked perfectly. Donations began flooding in from hundreds of people.
Of course, I also took some practical steps to lose weight. I asked a doctor for advice, I hired a fitness coach and I began to eat small and healthy meals. My fund-raising focus also gave me new motivation (动力) to exercise regularly.

Plogging, a new way to exercise, began in Sweden(h), The name "plogging" comes from two words—the Swedish(瑞典的) word "plocka", which means "to pick up(捡起), and the word Jouging"", which means" to run slowly". A Swedish man called Erik started the movement, He saw rubbish here and there when riding to work each day. He became worried about the dirty environment and decided not to go to work by bike anymore. Instead, he began to run to work and pick up the rubbish at the same time. To his joy, more and more people followed him and soon plogging became popular.
Many people choose plogging instead of just jogging because they think plogging is a good way to help clean up the earth. Sometimes rubbish is difficult to collect because it may scatter all around. But if the runners pick up the rubbish on the way, it is quite different. Because many hands make light work. Another reason is that plogging burns more calories(卡路里). According to a research, plogging for 10 minutes burns 48 calories, while usual jogging for 10 minutes burns about 39 calories.

9 . Clothes are traditionally made of natural materials, such as cotton, leather and wool. They are all from plants or animals, but that doesn't mean they're friendly to the earth. For example, farmers have to use a lot of chemicals to grow cotton plants.
Scientists are now looking for new ways to make clothing materials. They hope the new materials are both comfortable and good for the earth. Scientists have worked out how to make materials out of corn husks(玉米皮), chicken feathers and rice straws.
"They used to be useless things. We always have a problem of how to deal with them," Yang, a scientist says, "Now, we can turn them into beautiful materials. Chicken feathers are better than other things. They have small air pockets like honeycombs. 10 . Green is an important color in nature. It is the color of grass and the leaves on trees. It is also the color of most growing plants. Sometimes, the word “green” means young, fresh and growing. Sometimes, it means something that is not yet finished. For example, a greenhorn is someone who has little experience as he is new to a situation. In the 15th century, a greenhorn was a young cow whose horns(角) had not yet developed. A century later, a greenhorn was a soldier who had no experience in war. By the 18th century, a greenhorn had the meaning it has today — a person who is new in a job.
About one hundred years ago, greenhorn was a popular expression in the west of America. People used it to describe a man if he came from one of the big cities in the east. The greenhorn didn’t have the skills to live in the hard country. Someone who is good at growing plants is said to have a green thumb(大拇指). This comes from the early 20th century. A person with a green thumb can make plants grow quickly and well. The Green Revolution is the name given to the development of new kinds of rice and other grains some years ago. It was the result of hard work by scientists who had green thumbs. Green is also the color used to describe the feeling — Jealousy(嫉妒). The green-eyed monster(怪兽) is not a dangerous animal from outer space. It is an expression used about 400 years ago by the British writer William Shakespeare in his play Othello.
