To many people, hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken and pizza are their favorites. It’s true that many Americans do eat those “junk food”. But others choose more healthy eating habits. Some even go “all natural”. They refuse to eat any food prepared with chemicals or additives(添加物).
What we put in our mouths does become a part of us. To have a healthy diet, you may need to make some changes. Changing your eating habits a little bit at a time may be easier and it can lead to better health. Here are some ways for you:
Keep more fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products(乳制品)and whole-grain foods at home and at work.
Try to eat a family meal every day at the dining table. This will help you focus on eating healthy meals and let you control what you eat.
Pack a healthy lunch and snacks for work. Put your snacks on a plate instead of eating from the package. This helps you control how much you eat.
Don’t skip or miss meals, and be sure to list your snacks. If you don’t feel hungry, you may end up choosing an unhealthy snack. If you often feel too hungry, it can cause you to focus a lot on food. Eat your meals with others when you can. That can make you feel relaxed and enjoy your meals, and don’t eat too fast. Try to make healthy eating a pleasure, not a chore.

4 . A happy kid is a healthy kid. Parents and adults working with kids can have a big influence (影响) on kids’ habits, including eating and exercise habits.
Kids naturally want to run and play and when they are encouraged to play sports or to take part in activities, they are generally able to have healthy weights and build strong muscles. The kids who have healthy weights and strong bodies are generally healthy. Sports or other activities not only help kids have strong healthy bodies, but help kids do better in school and have better goals and self-confidence. A child that keeps taking exercise can be braver and get along better with others. Adults can encourage children to take exercise by doing activities together, like family hiking, biking or bowling together.
Parents and other adults can set good examples of what foods are good to eat by preparing and serving healthy meals and avoiding going to fast food restaurants. Avoid buying candy and other sweets except when there is a special occasion, like a holiday or birthday. When adults set good examples, kids are more likely to follow them. When adults mostly eat fast food, candy and snacks, kids are more likely to eat the same types of foods.
Kids need to be taught that at there are many ways for them to stay healthy, but setting good examples is just as important as teaching them.

Drink eight cups of water every day.

6 . Yesterday, Danny ate lunch at a restaurant with his family. Later that night, he had food poisoning(中毒). He wanted to know how it happened.
Danny learned about a few reasons(理由)for food poisoning(中毒).
The first reason is bacteria in the food. Bacteria live in a lot of food and they live in meat, eggs and seafood most often. If you cook the food in a right way, you can make the bacteria die in it.
Another way to get food poisoning is from parasites(寄生虫). They often live in meat, but could live on vegetables, too. If you don’t cook the food in a right way, these parasites may start living in your body.
The third way that you can get food poisoning is by eating the food with toxins(毒素)in it. Sometimes the food gets toxins naturally, and sometimes the toxins come from insect spray(喷雾杀虫剂). So you must wash the food carefully before you eat or cook it.
The last way that people get food poisoning is from allergens(过敏原). Some people are just allergic to some food, and they may feel very uncomfortable after eating it.
Danny decided he would choose food carefully and cook it in a right way before he ate it in the future. That was important. He never wanted to feel this way again.
