文章大意:本文主要针对我们如何健康饮食提出了五条建议。

1 . Healthy eating doesn’t just mean what you eat, but how you eat. Here is some advice on healthy eating.

Eat with others. It can help you to see others’ healthy eating habits. If you usually eat with your parents, you will find the food you eat is more delicious.

Listen to your body. Ask yourself if you are really hungry. Have a glass of water to see if you are thirsty—sometimes you are just thirsty, and you need no food. Stop eating before you feel full.

Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Since you don’t eat for the past ten hours, your body needs food to get you going, so you must eat something for breakfast. You will be smarter after eating breakfast.

Eat healthy snacks (点心) like fruit, yogurt (酸奶) or cheese. We all need snacks sometimes. In fact, it is a good idea to eat two healthy snacks between your three meals. This doesn’t mean you can eat a bag of chips.

Don’t eat dinner late. With our busy life, we always put off eating dinner until the last minute. You’d better eat dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. This will give your body a chance to digest most of the food before you rest for the next 8—10 hours.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了人们吃素食的原因和这一行为带来的好处。

2 . ①Should we eat more meat or more vegetarian food (素食)? A recent study shows that there are more vegetarians (素食主义者). People become vegetarians for different reasons. Some choose a vegetarian diet because they believe killing animals is wrong. People who care about their health see it as a good way to keep fit and lower their risk of many illnesses. Lately, more people are having vegetables instead of meat because being vegetarians plays an important role in protecting the environment.

②For further research, researchers from China gave a report about the influence of eating behavior on the environment. It showed that meat consumption is one of the main ways that humans can harm the environment, second only to the use of cars. But how can changing our diets make a difference? We can compare the amount of water needed to produce meat and crops (农作物). For example, we need almost 20,000 liters (升) of water to produce a kilo of beef, but only about 150 liters of water are needed to produce a kilo of crops. It’s clear that we can make better use of land and water if we produce crops instead of meat.

③Feeding animals for food also leads to the rise of global temperatures. Animals such as cows, pigs and sheep give out a lot of greenhouse gas (温室气体).

④There are more and more people who support being vegetarians. For example, schools across many parts of the world hold “Meat Free Mondays” to show how easy it is to eat less meat. Some people go one step further and eat vegetables only all the time. Just being a vegetarian for one day a week or just eating less meat can go a long way.

1. What are the reasons for people becoming vegetarians?
①It helps protect the environment.
②It can keep people fit and healthy.
③It can make people feed more animals.
④Some people believe killing animals is wrong.
A.①②③B.②③④C.①②④
2. What does the underlined word “consumption” in Paragraph 2 mean in Chinese?
A.消耗B.研究C.节省
3. Which of the following shows the structure of the text?
A.B.C.

3 . Do you often eat candies and desserts? Are you crazy about cola and milk tea? Do you know these snacks and drinks have a lot of sugar? Eating too much sugar causes many health problems, even leads to high blood sugar level, which could bring us diabetes (糖尿病), heart disease, liver disease or even depression.

Besides sweet food and drinks, there is hidden sugar in everyday food. For example, there is much sugar in bread and yogurt. It is hard for us to avoid sugar, but do we have to stay away from it completely? That’s impossible and unnecessary. After all, sugar is one of the energy sources that we need. What we must do is to control the sugar intake.

Here are some possible ways to help you. First, get to know how much sugar we need a day. World Health Organization (WHO) suggests adults and children should limit sugar intake to 25 grams or less every day. Then, check the ingredients list and buy food with the lowest sugar. What’s more, pay attention to our blood sugar level. Jessie Inchauspe, a French bestselling writer, shares some of her ideas to balance our blood sugar level.

· Eat foods in the right order.

Eat your vegetables first, followed by eggs and meat, then rice or bread.

· Eat vegetables before each meal.

It is better to have hot or cold green salad.

· Reach for vinegar (醋) before you eat.

This is having a teaspoon of vinegar in a glass of water before meals.

· Move after you eat, within 70 minutes.

It could be going for a 10-minute walk, doing a short workout, or doing some chores.

By now, you’ve already known how to improve sugar intake patterns. However, what we do is more important than what we say. Small steps can add up. Let’s begin to make changes on our own.

5 . In the UK, most children have their lunches at school, but in some schools, parents can choose what their children eat. The children can have a school dinner—a hot cooked meal; or they can take a packed lunch (自带午餐) with them, which usually includes cold food like sandwiches.

Often parents know what their children want. Cath, a mother of three children, told us, “My children have packed lunches because they say they hate school dinners. So I make three packed lunches every morning.”

However, another mother, Susan, made a different choice. She said, “My daughters have always had school dinners. I think they probably get healthier food at school than a few sandwiches I make for them.”

But how healthy are school dinners? Kaz, a father, thought poorly of them. He said, “Fizzy (起泡的) drinks were offered and I think there were a lot of chips.”

Jamie Oliver spent a year working in a school kitchen. He was worried about the unhealthy food which included burgers, pizzas and chips. So he tried to cook healthy food such as vegetable soups and curries (咖喱) for the children instead.

So Jamie improved the school dinners, and trained the dinner ladies to cook healthy food in that school. Then he advised the government to improve school food across the country. And it seems that the changes have begun.

Anna, a student, told us, “We used to have a fast food window where we got chips and coke, but they stopped that this year. There’s a salad restaurant, which is good, so it’s healthier than it was.”

文章大意:本文主要介绍了我们对糖上瘾的原因,摄入太多糖分的危害,以及如何避免摄入太多糖的做法。
6 .

Many scientists believe our love of sugar may actually be an addiction. When we eat or drink sugary foods, the sugar enters our blood and affects the parts of our brain that make us feel good. Then the good feeling goes away, leaving us wanting more. All tasty foods do this, but sugar has a particularly strong effect. In this way, it is in fact an addictive (使人上瘾的) drug, one that doctors suggest we all cut down on.

“It seems like every time I study an illness and trace a path to the first cause, I find my way back to sugar,” says scientist Richard Johnson. One-third of adults worldwide have high blood pressure, and up to 347 million have diabetes (糖尿病). Why? “Sugar, we believe, is one of the causes, if not the major cause,” says Johnson.
Our bodies are designed to survive on very little sugar. Early humans often had very little food, so our bodies learned to be very efficient in storing sugar as fat. In this way, we had energy stored for when there was no food. But today, most people have more than enough. So the very thing that once saved us may now be killing us.
It’s obvious that we need to eat less sugar. The trouble is, in today’s world, it’s extremely difficult to avoid. From breakfast cereals to after-dinner desserts, our foods are increasingly filled with it. Some producers even use sugar to replace taste in foods that are advertised as low in fat. So while the foods appear to be healthier, large amounts of sugar are often added.
But some people are fighting back against sugar and trying to create a healthier environment. Many schools are replacing sugary desserts with healthier choice, like fruit. Other schools are trying to encourage exercise by building facilities like walking tracks so students and others in the community can exercise. The battle has not yet been lost.
1. What do scientists think of sugar?
A.It makes us feel good and want more of it.B.Tasty foods are full of sugar.
C.It has a strong effect on our blood.D.It should be taken under a doctor’s guidance.
2. In paragraph 3, the phrase “the very thing” refers to ________.
A.the amount of sugar in our foodB.having enough food to survive
C.our ability to store sugar as fatD.the importance of sugar for early humans
3. According to the passage, why is it so hard to avoid sugar?
A.It gives us needed energy.B.It’s in so many foods and drinks.
C.We get used to eating it at school.D.We cannot survive without it.
4. Which of the following can be put in ?
A.Should we eat no sugar?B.How harmful is sugar in our diets?
C.Is sugar really that bad for us?D.So what is the solution?
5. What is the genre (体裁) of this passage?
A.A profile about ways to avoid sugar.B.A story about illnesses caused by sugar.
C.An essay about our addiction to sugar.D.A drama about reasons for loving sugar.

Young people enjoy different kinds of drinks, though they know how bad drinks are for their health. What about you?     1     Chris Bailey, a popular blogger (博客作者), tried this out. Here is what he finds.

First, you lose weight faster. Yeah, you do! You don’t have to exercise but just keep away from drinks for 9 days.     2     So write down your resolution (决心) on a piece of paper and put it on the wall. And you will see the result soon.

Sometimes when you have to stay up for a test, a cup of tea or coffee is usually put at the side of your desk. But do you know 75 to 85 percent of your brain is water? Nothing else! Just by drinking water, your brain can work efficiently (有效率地).     3

4     So drinking enough water can stop you from getting old quickly. If you want to look young and beautiful as long as possible, drink a glass of water right now! Keep on doing it for longer, and you will be surprised to touch your soft and clean skin.

Lastly, you save money!     5     The price of water is much lower than that of other drinks. Drink 5 glasses of water every day, or spend money visiting doctors. Think about it!

So, what are you waiting for?

A.It is the same as running for 8 kilometers a day!
B.You may remember things quickly and well.
C.What will happen to you if water takes the place of all drinks?
D.What’s more, water washes out something bad in your body.

8 . Should I worry about skipping breakfast (不吃早饭)?

Is breakfast the most important meal of the day? It probably depends on what you’re doing for the rest of it. Before the industrial revolution (工业革命), most people had leftovers or nothing for breakfast. Edward Bernays created a marketing project in the 1920s that made eggs and bacon a common breakfast choice. But in today’s world, fewer people work physically challenging jobs, so is it still necessary to begin the day with a protein-rich (富含蛋白质的) meal or a bowl of porridge? Does it matter if you don’t and might there actually be health benefits to breaking your fast later in the day?

First, let’s hear from the breakfast supporters. Some studies suggest that breakfast-skippers have a risk of heart disease and high blood sugar, across a range of populations around the world. At the same time, other studies show breakfast-skippers are more likely to choose poorer foods throughout the day which makes sense, as skipping breakfast seems to keep levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin (饥饿激素) high, while the satiety hormone leptin (饱腹感激素瘦素) stays suppressed.

Breakfast eaters often have healthier habits, but not always. What if some people really care about their health but choose to skip breakfast? Well, actually...

“Skipping breakfast can be described as a kind of ‘time-restricted feeding (限时进食)’, as you reduce the ‘window’ when you can eat, ” says the nutritionist (营养学家) Drew Price. “If I was working with someone who wanted a breakfast-skipping-type plan, then I would be paying more attention than ever to what they are eating to make sure they get enough protein, healthy fats and other beneficial nutrients. However, skipping breakfast isn’t suitable for everyone, especially those people with disordered eating, certain health conditions, and those who are young or elderly, for whom balanced energy intake is important.”

What should you do then? Just eat in the way that lets you make the most healthy choices, most long-lastingly. If that means a couple of fried eggs and some vegetables at 7 a.m., great, but if all you need to make it to 11 a.m. is a strong cup of coffee, don’t worry about it too much. Oh, and if a bowl of porridge can help guide you away from your basic needs, then go for it—we can all use a bit of help in the morning, after all.

1. According to the passage, which health risk is connected with skipping breakfast?
A.Cancer.B.Stomachache.C.Cold.D.Heart disease.
2. The word “suppressed” in Paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to ________.
A.controlledB.organizedC.balancedD.recorded
3. The writer probably agrees that ________.
A.the best breakfast habit depends on yourself
B.disordered eating is a good idea for children
C.balanced energy intake is the key to a healthy life
D.skipping breakfast brings people more food choices
4. What is the writer’s main purpose of writing this passage?
A.To introduce the history and development of breakfast.
B.To provide breakfast meal suggestions for improving health.
C.To highlight how the marketing influences breakfast choices.
D.To discuss whether you need to worry about breakfast skipping or not.
