2 . “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Similarly, if we drink a little more water every day, we may find that we need to go to the doctor less often. A healthy diet is made up of water and different kinds of foods. We know that healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and fish, are important as they offer energy and fiber, without giving us much fat and sugar. But why is water important?
The human body needs water to survive. Water is important as it carries poisons and waste out of our bodies. However, doctors advise us to drink plenty of water, much more than the small amount we need to stay alive.
Some doctors believe that water is important for health in all kinds of ways. They believe that many illnesses and health problems appear as a result of dehydration—a lack of water. Most people are dehydrated at least some of time, although they probably don’t know it. It is surprising to learn that if we feel thirsty, we are already in the first stages of dehydration. In fact, we are advised to drink water before we feel thirsty.
These doctors think that health problems such as headaches, high blood pressure could be helped if people drink more water. They also believe that drinking more water can help people who are fat. Water contains no calories so it will not make us gain weight. If we drink water, we will probably drink less sugary soft drinks. Doctors also believe that drinking more water may stop people from overeating. They say that many people think that they are hungry when they are, in fact, thirsty. Doctors suggest, therefore, that we eat less food and drink more water.
There are still many health problems that cannot be solved by drinking water, so we should not stop going to see the doctors completely.

But when my Chinese friends say no to eat or drink cold things, even during the summer, that’s when the tables turn and I become confused. They believe that cold food and drinks might harm their health. Where does this belief come from? My friends said their parents taught them that cold food and drinks are bad for your stomach. One friend even told me that cold drinks, such as ice water, can cause stomach to have a terrible illness.
But after doing some research of my own, I wasn’t sure if this was true. But an article I read on Snopes, a myth-busting(辟谣)website, says the food that you eat will quickly match your own temperature. So, it doesn’t matter if you eat something hot or cold. The temperature of the food or drinks will match your own temperature any way. But on the other hand, when I get sick, my Chinese friends often tell me drink some hot water and have a good rest. 6 . Yesterday, Danny ate lunch at a restaurant with his family. Late that night, he had food poisoning (食物中毒). He wanted to know how it happened. Danny learned about a few reasons for food poisoning.
The first reason is bacteria (细菌) in the food. Bacteria live in a lot of food and they live in meat, eggs and seafood most often. If you cook the food in a right way, you can kill the bacteria in it.
Another way to get food poisoning is from parasites (寄生虫). They often live in meat, but could live on vegetables, too. If you don't cook the food in a right way, these parasites may start living in your body!
The third way that you can get food poisoning is by eating the food with toxins(毒素) in it. Sometimes the food gets toxins naturally, and sometimes the toxins come from insect spray (喷雾杀虫剂). So you must wash the food carefully before you eat or cook it.
The last way that people get food poisoning is from allergens (过敏原). Some people are just allergic to some food, and they may feel very uncomfortable after eating it.

Many facts suggest that children are overweight and the situation is getting worse, according to the doctors.
Some people blame the fact that we are surrounded by shops selling unhealthy, fatty foods, such as fried chicken and ice cream, at low prices.
There is another argument that blames parents for allowing their children to become overweight.I agree with this, because good eating habits begin early in life, long before children start to visit fast food shops. If parents often give their children fried chicken and chocolate rather than healthy food, they will go for sweet and salty foods, and children will find it hard to get rid of the habit.
There is a third reason for this situation.Children these days take very little exercise. They do not walk to school. When they get home, they sit in front of the television or their computers and play computer games.
