5 . After months of study, you have some time to relax. So, why not read a book? Well, some people will say, “Why trouble with books? We have the Internet and other media (媒体) that offer a lot more colorful programs. Books are history!” But don’t be fooled. There’s still a lot to be said for reading.

One clear reason is that a well-chosen book is a wonderful collection of words and expression. If you have a good dictionary, I think it’s far easier to get standard (标准的) English than from the TV or the Internet.

An even more important reason is that books give you something that media can not. The web page is always full of pictures and the text is often designed to make it as easy to read as possible. Though “easy” may be welcome, unluckily it’s of little use for any long-time development of reading skills and the general language level. For that, there’s still no substitute (替代品) for a book.

However, perhaps the best reason is that simply choosing what you read and doing it by yourself means that it’s something you do by and for yourself. You can choose what you want to read. It’s hard work, but while you are reading, you’ll find that what once seemed like a duty is now a pleasure. In a word, reading books can bring us pleasure.

6 . Do you know how to play a game called “Musical Chairs”? It is easy to play the game. Most children enjoy it. You need some benches (板凳), some persons and some ways of making music. You may use a piano or any other musical instruments if you want to play it. You may use a music player, too, such as MP3 player or recorder.

Put the benches in a row. The benches may be put in twos, back to back. A better way is to have the benches in row with each bench facing in the opposite direction (相反的方向) to the bench next to it.

The game is easy. When the music starts, you can walk round the benches. Everyone goes in the same direction. If the music is fast, you should walk quickly. If the music is slow, you should walk slowly.

The person playing music can not see the people in the game. When the music stops, one of you tries to sit in the benches. If you can not find a bench to sit in, you have to drop out (退出). Then, before the music starts again, you must take one bench away. When the music stops again, one more actor will be out.

At last, there will be two players and one bench. When the music stops, if you sit in the bench, you are the winner (获胜者).
