文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了阴阳瑜伽。阴阳瑜伽是一种高能运动的结合,它能增强能量,增强力量,提高耐力。

1 . In an ideal world, we would be able to devote as much time to sports as we feel we need. But in reality, with growing demands in both work and family, we can only jump at the chance for our physical exercise when we can. Making the most of that time to practice Yin Yang yoga, which mixes the dynamic and slow-paced elements of yoga, helps keep you active and relaxed.

Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts representing a balance of opposite forces which are also interconnected. Yin is inactive, cooling, and negative, associated with the female force. Yang is active, warming, and positive, associated with action and movement. They are complementary to one another, as one cannot exist without the other.

Yin Yang yoga is a combination of high-energy movement which builds energy, increases strength and promotes stamina (耐力), followed by the more restful practice of Yin to give us a deeper stretch (拉伸) and calm the nervous system.

If you have a busy and active life you may feel more in Yang, so taking some cooler, slower Yin yoga practice into your routine may help you feel calmer and more balanced.

If you are practicing for an hour, divide the time in half, Warm up with sun salutations (拜日式瑜伽), continue into a dynamic flow and then move on to some standing postures. After half an hour your heart will be pumping, muscles tighten up and you are hopefully feeling energetic, but ready for a rest. Then pick five Yin postures to hold for 3-5 minutes, or even longer if you are enjoying them!

As ever with yoga, if you are a beginner or have health issues, always attend a class with a trained instructor first to guide you safely through the yoga practice and avoid injury.

1. What can be inferred from paragraph 1?
A.Most of our sports time should be spent on Yin Yang yoga.
B.We’d better devote as much time to physical exercise as we can.
C.Busy schedule makes it impossible for us to do any form of sports.
D.Yin Yang yoga can be a choice of physical exercise when time is tight.
2. What does the underlined word “complementary” in the second paragraph probably mean?
A.Independent from one another.
B.Competitive against one another.
C.Similar to each other but unable to work together as a whole.
D.Different from each other but together making a good combination.
3. Which of the following might be the benefit of Yin postures?
A.Relaxing muscles.B.Building stamina.
C.Strengthening the body.D.Quickening the heartbeat.
4. What suggestion does the writer give in the last two paragraphs?
A.Hold each Yin posture for longer than 5 minutes.
B.Do not practice yoga when you are not in good health.
C.Start your yoga practice under the guidance of a trainer.
D.Spare half an hour for five Yin postures in every yoga practice.

文章大意:这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了Leek Town Warriors女子足球队在詹姆斯·亨利教练的带领下,夯实基础技能,共同努力,成为了连胜八场的明星足球队的故事。

2 . Leek Town Warriors was a girls’ football team which used to get routinely defeated every time they turned out, until James Henry stepped in two years ago. He tended to transform the team’s fortunes and then took the job when the previous coach quit. With the help of his assistant Andy Austin, they started training hard in April 2020.

Some players had never kicked a football before joining the team, so training them took hours of hard work and patience. After a good few weeks, they got down to training and really started to take it in what the coach wanted. “I insist on doing the basic stuff well and letting the girls decide what they feel they need to work on.” James said.

James’ first season was ruined by the pandemic, which forced him and Andy to get creative with training. They organized team-building activities with the girls to help them bond on and off the field. James then spent the sessions they could hold focusing on the basics of football like passing and shooting, bringing the girls up to a good standard.

James watched the girls develop over the course of last year, and in September they played their first match of the new season. They won the game, and since then went on an unbeaten run of eight games. The team’s star player, 15-year-old Chelsea, has also impressed the audience individually, becoming the top scorer in the league with incredible 30 goals.

James said, “All the effort that the girls, us coaches and parents have put in to get this point has been enormous. If I hadn’t had the support of Andy helping me every week, this would have been an impossible task. So I’m incredibly grateful to have him on side. All we want is to bring more girls into the game and show that it’s not all about having the best players; it’s about hard work and giving everyone the chance to play.”

1. Why did James Henry take over the soccer team?
A.Because he wanted to try his luck.
B.Because he wanted to turn things around.
C.Because the previous coach recommended him.
D.Because he hoped to fulfill his champion dream.
2. What did James do to change the situation?
A.Lay stress on basic skills.B.Develop players’ patience.
C.Pick experienced players.D.Make decisions for the girls.
3. What did the team achieve after James was in charge?
A.They became an unbeaten team in the new season.
B.They stood out in James’ first season.
C.They scored 30 goals in the new season.
D.They won regularly and secured progress.
4. What can we learn from the story?
A.Talent is the key.B.Joint efforts matter.
C.Every dog has his day.D.Time and tide wait for no man.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了一些创新性的运动方式。

3 . Creative ways to change your workouts

Most people know working out is good for your health, both physical and mental.     1     Sure, you may get excited about training for a 5 K or 10 K, but once the race is over, only to become tired of it after a few weeks.

Create a word or image with your exercise route

Runners often map routes through city streets that create a word or image, then use a GPS device to “draw” it as they run.     2     Not sure what image or message to create? You can always follow artistic routes others have created and shared in the apps. Some are impressively complex and may take several excursions to complete. But that’s part of the fun.

Join a free fitness group

Exercising can be more fun with others, so look for group fitness opportunities. Many communities offer free exercise opportunities. Fitness in the Park is a summer-long activity that has been operating in New York state for a decade. Everyone is welcome to head to one of 18 different parks.     3     “The best part is grabbing a partner that you don’t know, or getting together with one that you do,” Frion said. “It’s always so much fun.”

    4

Sure, you can run a 5 K. But why not try orienteering (定向越野赛)? This timed navigational sport requires you to use detailed maps to find orange-and-white flags that are hidden in parks or remote areas. Races involve difficult running routes

Dance

Whether you take a class or practice at home, dancing is a great way to get your body moving. Dancing doesn’t seem like exercise to a lot of people, which is why it’s always a popular choice.     5     “The workout allows for a creative aspect and meditation at the same time,” she said. “Many people come because it is an opportunity to try something different, as well as to dance in a nonjudgmental space.”

A.Hit the road.
B.Sign up for a new-to-you event.
C.Participants have ranged in age from about 10 to over 70.
D.But staying motivated — especially for the long term — can be a struggle.
E.The event is timed, so people often jog or power walk from flag to flag.
F.You can do the same, whether your favored exercise is running, walking or biking.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一项关于锻炼有助于减少和预防抑郁症的研究。

4 . For people suffering from depression, there’s an all-natural treatment they should use — getting more exercise. It could help fight depression, even if people have a genetic risk, new research shows.

For the study, researchers collected information from nearly 8,000 people and found those with related genes were more likely to have depression over the next two years after examining them. But that was less likely for people who were more active at the study’s start, even if they had a family history of depression. Higher levels of physical activity helped protect even those with the highest genetic risk of depression.

Both high-intensity (高强度) exercise and low-intensity activities were associated with a reduced risk of depression. Adding four hours of exercise a week could lower the risk of a new episode (一段经历) of depression by 17%, according to the study. “Our findings strongly suggest that, when it comes to depression, being physically active has the potential to remove the added risk of future episodes in individuals who are genetically risky,” said lead author Karmel Choi. “On average, about 35 additional minutes of physical activity each day may help people to reduce their risk and protect against future depression episodes.”

Depression is a common mental illness globally, with more than 264 million people affected. “Depression is so ubiquitous, and that underlines the need for effective approaches that can impact as many people as possible,” Choi said. And mental health and primary care providers can use the findings to advise patients that there’s something meaningful they can do to lower their risk of depression.

1. How did the researchers reach their conclusion?
A.By analyzing a mass of data.
B.By conducting genetic research.
C.By comparing various levels of activity.
D.By tracking the subjects for many years.
2. What does the study show about depression?
A.Physical activity betters medical treatment.
B.Exercise is able to decrease and prevent it.
C.Different levels of exercise intensity matter the same.
D.Exercising 35 minutes daily is the most effective treatment.
3. What does the underlined word “ubiquitous” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Harmful.B.Complex.
C.Unusual.D.Common.
4. What is the purpose of the text?
A.To discuss a disease.
B.To introduce a method.
C.To analyze a genetic risk.
D.To explain a phenomenon.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文,文章主要介绍了在家锻炼的一些注意事项。

6 . Home workout

As long as there is a space at home, we can move. It will take time if we go outside as time is precious, especially in this fast- paced age. So many people like to exercise at home. However, without trainers, getting good exercises at home can be difficult.     1

Avoid over-training. Nowadays, a lot of people prefer to do some popular programs they see on social media. But a lot of these programs are high-in-tensity (高强度的) and designed to make you feel tired.     2     Training beyond your power can result in injury. “You might develop tendonitis (肌腱炎) in the knees; you might hurt an ankle,” said Clifton Hempstead, a well-known personal trainer.

3     A lot of home workout programs that don’t need equipment include exercises such as planks (平板支撑),squats (深蹲) and sit-ups.     4     “When doing squats, your knees and toes should be pointed in the same direction so that, long term, your knees don’t suffer. If you can’t do an exercise, find a way to reduces its tensity so that you have less pain,” he said.

Do yoga in a suitable way.     5     But if you’d rather learn yoga through videos, it’s important to take it slow. Many video classes don’t offer any changes of poses that might make them work for different bodies. “If something doesn’t feel right, and you’re taking a video class, please quit,” he said. “Don’t go as far.”

A.It can be tricky to do yoga at home.
B.Yoga is the most effective in the presence of an instructor.
C.Here is something you should pay attention to when you choose to exercise at home.
D.Instead, you should try a program that is working toward a goal, with exercises you’re able to do.
E.Watch your form.
F.But having bad form can lead to injury.
G.People find it easy to do these programs.

7 . Playing tennis might add years to your life, according to a new study of Danish men and women. The study found that adults who frequently participate in tennis or other racket (球拍) and team sports lived longer than people who were spending a lot of time sitting down. They also lived longer than people who took part in activities such as jogging, swimming and cycling. The results raise interesting questions about the role that social interactions might play in enlarging the benefits of exercise.

No one doubts that being physically active improves our health and can extend our longevity (寿命). But whether some activities might be better than others remains in argument. One widely publicized 2017 study of more than 80,000 British men and women found that those who played racket sports like tennis tended to outlive those who jogged.

The researchers widened their inquiry and looked at a variety of sports and their associations with life. To start, they turned to the same data resource they had used for the jogging study, the Copenhagen City Heart Study. The study’s participants had all completed health exams and lengthy questionnaires about their lifestyles and whether and how often they took part in some sports common in Denmark, including cycling, swimming, running, tennis, soccer and, perhaps unexpectedly, badminton.

According to the data, cycling added an average of 3.7 years to riders’ lives, compared to sedentary Danes. Running added 3.2 years while tennis 9.7 years. These associations remained unchanged even when the researchers controlled for people’s education, socioeconomic status and age.

“Why and how some sports might add more years to people’s lives than others is impossible to know from this kind of observational study,” says Dr. James O’Keefe, a study co-author. “But we know that social support probably has unique effects on helping people get more benefits from the exercise.”

For now, people who run or ride alone might consider finding a group or partner to work out together. “Raising your heart rate is important for health,” he says. “But it looks like connecting with other people is, too.”

1. According to the passage, which activity may help people live longer?
A.Cycling.B.Running marathon.
C.Swimming.D.Playing badminton.
2. What does the underlined word “sedentary” in the fourth paragraph mean?
A.Inactive.B.Outgoing.C.Depressed.D.Easygoing.
3. Which may Dr. James O’Keefe recommend according to the last paragraph?
A.Exercising alone.B.Working out together.
C.Working out regularly.D.Raising one’s heart rate.
4. It is suggested in the passage that ________.
A.women who prefer team sports live longer than men
B.people’s education and socioeconomic status affect their longevity
C.the reason why some sports might add more years to people’s lives is still unknown
D.80,000 Danish men and women participated in the survey

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章介绍新的研究表明经常锻炼不仅仅有助于降低疾病水平,还能增加收入。

8 . Now, new research suggests frequent exercise might help you live well in another meaningful way—that is, in terms of income. Researchers investigated whether individuals who stayed active would earn more money as a result of their active lifestyle. It revealed that staying active not only resulted in higher present earnings, but also predicted increased future income throughout one’s life.

The researchers set out to explore three key correlations (相互关系):How mobility-the ability to move, affected income, how mobility influenced income overtime, and whether exercise could help people maintain their mobility as they aged. The team analyzed data from Health and Retirement Study(HRS), the largest study tracking changes overtime in Americans aged 50 and above. This study takes into account various life aspects, including work, social status, health, psychology and family matters, as individuals age.

To evaluate the impact of current mobility on income, the researchers examined data from over 19, 000 respondents (调查对象) to determine how well they could perform simple tasks, such as climbing stairs, or moving around a room. Each person received a score, with 5 indicating full mobility and 0 indicating difficulties with these tasks. The researchers found that for each decrease in the mobility category, individuals lost out on an average of $3, 000 in annual income compared to their peers. Those who were active were also significantly more likely to remain working for longer than the other group. It appeared that engaging in exercise enabled individuals to maintain mobility and engage in professional life for a longer period of time than those who were less active.

Looking at earnings overtime revealed even more substantial benefits for those who remained active throughout their lives. Active individuals showed an overall income level that was $6, 500 higher, along with higher rates of employment. For the third part of the study, it’s not surprising that those who engaged in exercise continued to maintain their mobility after the age of 55 and had higher employment rates. Even exercising just one day a week showed improvements in mobility outcomes.

While this study doesn’t definitively prove that leading a healthy lifestyle directly leads to higher earnings, it strongly suggests that staying healthy and mobile brings benefits beyond just lower levels of disease.

1. What didn’t researchers take into consideration when designing their experiment?
A.Family mattersB.Work and social status
C.Health and psychologyD.Educational background
2. According to paragraph 3, what’s the impact of current mobility on income?
A.Increased mobility slightly reduces annual income
B.Greater mobility is closely related to higher income
C.Decreased mobility greatly increases the overall income
D.Maintaining mobility has nothing to do with the income
3. What’s the author’s attitude towards leading a healthy lifestyle?
A.FavorableB.IndifferentC.OpposedD.Doubtful
4. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.Exercise Lowers Levels of All Diseases
B.Exercise Promotes Work Efficiency
C.Exercise Helps to Make More Money
D.Exercise Ensures A Longer Lifespan

9 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

When I was six, I played my first soccer game. It was a real game, complete with coaches, uniforms, and parents cheering from the sidelines.

Our two teams, Team One and Team Two, seemed pretty evenly matched, at least in the beginning. The first period ended without a single goal scored by either side. We were all still learning how to play the game properly, and our inexperience ran through this part. We stumbled over the ball, tripped over our own feet, and often completely missed our kicks. But what mattered most was that we were having fun, pure and simple.

The second quarter brought a significant change in the game. Our coach decided to pull out most of our starting players and put in the substitutes (替补), except for me—I was left guarding the goal. On the other side, Team Two’s coach decided to keep their best players on the field, which made things even more challenging for us. It seemed that winning suddenly become essential, even for us six-year-olds.

Team Two started to rule the game, and I found myself surrounded by their players whenever they came near our goal. I was determined to do my best, but it was tough. I couldn’t match the skills of three or four other really good players. Team Two began to score, one goal after another. I threw myself in front of the ball with all the energy I could gather, trying desperately to stop them but in vain.

The pressure was mounting, and I could feel my frustration building with every goal that slipped past me. I shouted, I ran, and I dove, but they kept scoring. I gave it everything I had, but it seemed useless.

My parents were there on the sidelines, and I could see them in the crowd. As the game progressed, I could see the change in my father’s expression. He had been urging me to try harder, yelling advice and encouragement from the sidelines, but now he seemed different. I could see the pain in his eyes, the pain he felt seeing me struggle. It made me want to cry.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;

2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Team Two scored their fourth goal, and it was half-time break.
