1 . Walk with a Purpose
Humans were made for walking. With our upright postures, agile(灵活的) joints, and strong leg muscles, our bodies were exactly designed with walking in mind - which is what makes it such perfect exercise.
Maybe you already love to walk, but you’re getting tired of tracking your same old route day after day — or maybe you’re new to walking and aren’t sure how to get started. Either way, it’s time to consider the idea of walking with a purpose.
Similarly, you might find open groups of dog walkers at your local park as well. Your RV(野营车) park might conduct group walks and hikes or your campground personnel might know about fun local walking groups you can join.

The mascot(吉祥物) of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games official made its public appearance on Tuesday. It was a cartoon character inspired by giant pandas. The smiling panda is named with Bing DwenDwen in Chinese. Color circles around its face symbolize skating tracks and 5G technology. Bing, Chinese word for “ice”, shows purity and strength, but DwenDwen means sincerity, liveliness and health — also characteristics of pandas. Perhaps pandas are the animals most easily recognizing by us in China. The mascot combines our traditional culture and how pandas look like with winter sports elements. The image shows our great expect of the Games and that our Chinese welcome the world.
4 . Here’s the list of skiers, who have won four consecutive (连续的) world championships: Nobody.
Well, nobody besides Mikaela Shiffrin, who did it last Saturday in Are, Sweden. The Colorado skier, still just 23, is the best story, really, of this sports winter in the slalom (障碍滑雪).
She pulled it off, despite an illness that challenged her breathing. Shiffrin told NBC after her win that her mother, Eileen, advised her before her second run: You don’t have to do this. But Shiffrin told herself what she had told herself many times before: “I just need 60 seconds.” So she did it, and she got it. Shiffrin is closing in on her third World Cup overall title. She’s ranked No. 1 on the planet in slalom.
In women’s skiing, the mountain is now Shiffrin’s. She’s earned it. Those two (and soon three) World Cup overalls; 56 World Cup individual victories; and, oh yeah, right, three Olympic medals, two of them gold. Shiffrin is already considered a serious threat to Ingemar Stenmark’s record of 86 World Cup victories, and Lindsey Vonn’s 82, though the 34-year-old surely would have collected more had she not suffered repeated injuries during her career. Of course, Shiffrin may wind up chasing someone else’s mark—Austria’s brilliant Marcel Hirscher, 29, now has 68 World Cup wins.
At the same time, Shiffrin loathes all the talk about the numbers and records. “People see the records and statistics. They are asking for more, more, more…it looks easy, but it isn’t. Nowhere close,” Shiffrin wrote. “What I see is training, sleepless nights, pain, doubt, delayed lights, canceled flights, lost luggage, expense, adventure, and some races mixed in there.”
That’s what happens when you’re as good as she is. But nobody’s been as good as she is. In a sense, Shiffrin is just getting started. It’s very possible she will be at her peak powers when the Winter Olympics arrive in Beijing in 2022.

5 . The executive committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA,世界反兴奋剂组织) agreed to a series of tough measures against Russia on December 9. According to The Washington Post, it is the most severe punishment to date in the years-long Russian doping saga (兴奋剂事件).
Russia is prohibited from participating in all major international sports events in the next four years, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The country will also be banned from hosting any major sports events.
The reason for such severe punishment is that WADA believes the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) did not actively cooperate with its investigation. WADA also claims that the sample data submitted by the Moscow laboratory in January 2019 was incomplete and untrue. A great deal of data was deleted and changed.
Under the four-year ban, the Russian flag and anthem (国歌) are also prohibited from being displayed at major events. Only ''clean'' Russian athletes will be allowed to participate in international competitions under a neutral flag if they can provide the necessary proof.
Several countries and organizations have already upheld (支持) WADA's decision. The International Olympic Committee states that the decision is binding (有约束力的) and will also support the ruling (裁决) of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (国际体育仲裁法庭) in the future if Russia appeals. Norway said it would refuse Russia's participation in the Ski World Cup in2023.
The head of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said the ruling against Russia was “too moderate” and that the failure to ban Russian athletes from participating in any sports event was a blow to international sports. Although RUSADA will have three weeks to appeal against WADA's decision, according to the reaction of other organizations, there is a high possibility that the penalties will be carried out.
Russian president Vladimir Putin said the country had every reason to appeal against the decision. ''The key thing, and everyone is in agreement here, any punishment has to be individual, has to be targeted based on what a particular individual has done. We can't have collective punishment, '' Putin stressed. ''We cannot punish people who have nothing to do what so ever with violations.''
Despite the ban, Russia will be able to compete at Euro 2020 — in which St. Petersburg will be a host city — as European football’s governing body UEFA is not defined as a ''major event organization. ''

6 . It was the Olympic final day earlier this month, but this was an Olympics with a difference. Over the last five months, local and regional competitions have been held across Kenya for Maasai men of "warrior" age as part of the Maasai Olympics 2018. December 15 marked the final round with crowds gathering in Kimana, near the Amboseli National Park, about 200 km south of Narobi. Cash prizes and medals are in store for the winning individuals and communities.
International Charity Born Free Foundation is a main sponsor of the event which has been held every two years since 2012 to offer Maasai and warriors an alternative to(作为......
的替代)killing lions as part of their traditional ceremony. It was the idea of the Wildlife Charity Big Life Foundation and eight Maasai elders who wanted to "stop lion hunting by our warriors once and for all, making it a cultural taboo(禁忌)”.
"As soon as we understood the idea for the Maasai Olympics, we were attracted by the excitement, and inspired by the complete sense of this great plan," said Born Free Foundation's CEO Howard Jones. "As human populations grow and our wants seem to increase, with little sympathy for those other species with whom we share the planet, the pressing needed for coexistence is urgent. And examples of how this may be achieved are few and far between."
"About 2,000 lions remain in Kenya, and Born Free works to monitor the population, ease human-wildlife conflict and promote coexistence. "added Jones. “The Maasai live and work alongside lions and other wildlife, so they play a key role in their protection and conservation. However, the Maasai also have a 500-year-old tradition of hunting lions when men reach warrior age."
The Maasai Olympics were developed to encourage young men to compete in an organized sports competition based on their traditional warrior skills. They compete in six events (5,000 m, 800m, 200m, high jump, etc.) and there are also two events (1,500m and 100m) for women. As well as the competitive element, the event also aims to educate local people about conserving lions and other wildlife, and the importance of human-wildlife coexistence and tolerance.

7 . TORONTO/' TOKYO- The International Olympic Committee has decided to postpone the Tokyo 2020 Summer Games because of the coronavirus pandemic(流行病), IOC member Dick Pound said on Monday, as a window slowly began to open that would allow the showcase to be staged next year.
Major sporting nations Australia and Canada withdrew on Monday as organisers came under global pressure to postpone the event for the first time in its 124-year modern history.
Pound told Reuters that a one-year postponement looked like the best solution. This would mean the Games, scheduled for July 24-Aug. 9, are likely to be held in the summer of 2021.“That's my conclusion ( there will be a postponement) , Pound said in a telephone interview, after Sunday's IOC decision saying it was stepping up its “scenario planning” for the Tokyo 2020 Games- including a possible postponement. “From reading IOC-speak in the communique, if you are going to cancel, you simply cancel because there are no future plans,” added Pound. “But if you are going to carry on with the original objective (to stage the Games), there is no reason to issue a statement because you have already done that over the past several weeks.”
Japan and the IOC have said calling off the Games entirely is not an option. But finding a new date could be complicated as the summer 2021 calendar is already crowded, while 2022 will see the soccer World Cup and the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Pound said a large number of stakeholders(利益相关者) from the organising committee, to athletes to broadcasters and sporting federations would all need to be consulted before a plan could be finalised but there were early signs of a willingness to accommodate a 2021 Summer Games.
World Athletics said on Monday they would be willing to move their 2021 world championships scheduled for Aug. 6-15 in Eugene, Oregon to clear a path for a 2021 Olympics.
“World Athletics has already been in discussion with the Oregon 21 Organising Committee about the possibility that the Olympic Games may move to next year and they in turn have held discussions with their key stakeholders and have reassured us they will work with all of their partners and stakeholders to ensure that Oregon is able to host the World Athletics Championships on alternative dates if it is necessary,” athletics' global governing body said in a statement.

8 . The biggest complaint I hear is, “I don’t have enough time.” Trust me — I get it! So here are five simple tips to keep you consistently working out.
1. Schedule it.
2. Keep your scheduled appointment.
Now that your exercise is scheduled, keep your appointment!
