Last Saturday I went to the library as usually. At noon, I was enjoying my reading near a lake when suddenly I hear someone crying for help. I went up to see what was happened. I was shocking to find a little child struggling in the water while many people were standing by without doing anything. With any hesitation（犹豫）, I had pushed through the crowd but jumped into the water quickly. I managed to reach him and carry him back to safety. Lucky, the kid saved. I was proud of that I had done. I hope everyone can give a hand when someone else is in the need.

3 . In a national spelling contest in America, an 11-year-old girl was asked to spell a certain word. But with her ________ voice, the judges were not sure whether she spelled the right word. The remains of a gold mask are among the 3,000-year-old artifacts (历史文物) found at Sanxingdui, a 4.6-square-mile area outside Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province.     1     (weigh) about 280 grams and estimated to be made from 84% gold, the mask     2     (be) one of over 500 items unearthed from six newly discovered “sacrificial pits (祭祀坑)” in Sanxingdui.

7 . Join our Youth Winter Camp in China and experience Chinese culture. You can make new friends from all over the world. Besides, you can improve your Chinese, take part in cultural activities, and visit Beijing or Shanghai in a safe environment.

Chinese Classes

Our Winter Camp students will join small group Chinese classes from 09: 00-12: 00 Monday to Friday during the camp. Students will improve speaking skills in day-to-day situations, giving them the chance to learn useful phrases for their trips around the city.

Trips and Cultural Activities

After Chinese class in the morning, students will take part in cultural activities through which they'll learn more about the local culture. Students will join in a total of 18 different activities, including:trips to historical and tourist sights of Beijing, such as the Great Wall and Summer Palace; lectures about living, studying and working in China; cultural activities organized by the school, such as Chinese opera and calligraphy (书法).

Prices and Dates

If you want to join our Winter Camp, you must be aged between 14-17. You will need to arrive in the city at least 1 day before the start of the camp. All students will move into Winter Camp accommodation (住处) on the first day of the program. The dates and prices are as below:

8 . Travel Peru

A short flight from Cusco takes you from the Andes into the Amazon rainforest. From there, you'll spend one day travelling by boat to your accommodation in the middle of the forest. You can then spend three days exploring the rainforest with a local guide and enjoying the plants and animals unique to the rainforest.

This four-day walking tour will take you on amazing paths through the Andes Mountains on the way to the city of Machu Picchu. After reaching your destination, you will have a day to explore and be amazed by this ancient city. Especially amazing is the Incas' dry stone method of building Inca builders cut stones to exact sizes so that nothing was needed to hold walls together other than the perfect fit of the stones.

Spend four days enjoying the unique Spanish and local Indian culture high in the Andes at Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire from the 13th until the 16th century. Stay in a local hotel, visit the museums, admire the architecture, enjoy the excellent local food, and go shopping at the local markets.

Enjoy the beautiful countryside as you spend a day driving along the new highway connecting Cusco to Lake Titicaca. There, a boat will take you to stay with a local Uros family on an island for three days. Both the island and the Uros homes are made of water plants from the lake.

9 . One day, Jack’s parents told him that his grandpa would retire(退休) after working for forty years. Jack said in surprise，“I’m only seven, so it means grandpa has been…er... a really long time!”

His parents said，“Yes. That’s why we are going to have a surprise party for him. ”

Jack loved his grandpa and wanted to do something special for him. He remembered the business card his grandpa had given him two years before. He knew that his grandpa would no longer have the position(职位) on that card, so he decided to build a new one for his grandpa.

When the big day came, Jack was ready. But he didn’t want to put his gift together with others’. He carried it around with him the whole evening.

When all the other people left，he took his grandpa’s hand and brought him over to a chair and gave him the gift. His grandpa smiled, “Well，it must be a beautiful gift. May I open it now?” “Sure! ”Jack said excitedly.

As his grandpa opened the gift, tears came into his eyes. Jack gave him the greatest gift he had ever got! They were business cards with his new position FULL-TIME GRANDPA! Jack said, “Now your full-time(全职的) job is my grandpa!”

“Well，how much do I get paid?”his grandpa asked，smiling. “As many hugs(拥抱) as you want!” With these words，Jack gave his grandpa a hug. “Well, I guess that means I’m the richest man in the world! ” said his grandpa.

Students should wear school uniforms. First, it is school uniforms which can create unity and pride among students. Second, to avoid waste money, students should form the habit about wearing school uniforms. If a student cannot afforded nice clothing, he does not have to worry about whether he is poor dressed or not. Finally, the gap between the wealthy or the poor is closed because they all look a same. Other may argue that uniforms are likely prevent students from thinking freely. However, it is clear that if there are more advantages than disadvantages.
