One Sunday night, my neighbor, the Browns decided to go to the cinema. When they returned to home they happened to see two men jumping out of a window but running away. Then they realized our home had been robbed.

The Browns ran into the house and found the living room was in mess with their TV and furniture lay all on the floor. And their computer has disappeared. Mr. Brown called the police at once. Ten minutes late, a policeman arrived and they told him that had happened.

In the end, they discovered the alarm had not worked efficient.

Western holidays such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, are getting more and more popular in China. Some Chinese people even get crazy at them. But at the same time, people seem to have more enthusiasm for our traditional festivals such as the Spring Festival and the Moon Festival. However, most people celebrate western holidays without know the meaning behind them. They just go shopping, held parties and have fun.

Today some classmates and I served at the Capital Library as volunteer. At 9 o'clock this morning, we gathered together at gate of the library. After getting into the library, we were first training on how to operate the computers to borrow or return books. Then, we got down to our work. Some of us helped with shelving books but some offered help to the people having problems. All of us took our tasks serious, and tried to do it well.

Time passes quickly. Before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye. On the way back，we shared with our feelings happily. We all believe volunteering is meaningless and look forward to join in it.

When I was a kid, the very thing that aroused my interest about New Year's Eve was trying to stay wake until midnight. My parents didn't force me to go to bed early. However, I usually fell asleep before the New Year arrives. It wasn't until my 10th birthday when I could stay up late but was able to cheer with the rest of the family. I woke up happily next morning. When asking if I wanted to make a New Year's wish, I said I would try to fight less with my brother. Unfortunately, the wish was lasted only until dinner time. The reason was that my brother and me got into an argue about who would set the table.

Have you heard from Singles’ Day (November 11) in China? Many people stay up lately, shopping online to get big savings. Well, the US has something like it calling Black Friday.

Black Friday is one of the bigger shopping days in the US. It always fell on the day after the Thanksgiving holiday. On Black Friday, stores will offer special deal, just like Singles’ Day in China. Shoppers will often wake up very early to wait in the line at stores after they open. Sometimes, the crowds will be such big that it is impossible get inside the store. People sometimes fight over things because there are only a few left.

Recently my class have had heated discussion about whether prices of scenery spots should be raising. About 90 percent of the students thought it is not right to raise the prices. We think those places are public resources, that should be shared by more people. If the price go up too many, some people will not be able to afford it. However, 10 percent of the students think about it acceptable to raise the prices a little. In their opinion, tourist’s visit may cause some damages to many scenery spots and the construction of them needs more money.

From my point of view, there is a balance way that can be considered—raise prices during holidays and lower prices at other times.

Last year, I went to Australia for a short-term study like an international student. One of my classmates suggested we shared our favorite foods from our own countries during New Year’s party. We all agreed to this wonderful idea and cooked my unique dishes for the party. Hariyati from Indonesia shared a kind of cookie what was shaped like elephant ears. Susan from South Africa prepared some sweet dumplings packed in several banana leaf. Chiemi from Japan cooked special rice balls mixing with fish. And I was served sliced noodles, my hometown — Shanxi’s local food. These variously foods were all delicious. Therefore, my favorite was still Chinese food.

A robot used for housework was tested out in a family. He looked like a tall and handsome man with smooth black hair, speak in a deep voice. Larry was going to be away from home but he hired such a robot to keep his wife Claire company. Claire didn’t like idea in the beginning, but she agreed with it at last. At the first sight of Tony, Claire felt embarrassing. Gradually, Tony began to win Claire’s trust. He helps Claire realize her dream by making her home elegant, giving her a new haircut, changing the makeup she wore and giving her advices on her dresses. Therefore, at the party all her guests whom were invited were filled with admiration when they saw her house complete changed. After the test, the company was satisfied with Tony’s report because he had successfully made a woman to regain her confidence and fall in love with him.

I'm writing to you to ask some suggestions.

The Chinese government has changed the one-child policy into the two-child policy, meant that every family in China is allowed to have two children. Now my parents have made a decision to give the birth to a second child, that worries me a lot. As it is good to have a brother or sister to grow up with, I had to share everything with him or her. Most importantly, how if the love from my parents are totally switched to the new child? As I have a younger sister, do you have similar problem? What’s your opinion about this?

As the saying go, treat others as you would like to be treated. If we want to be treated well, and we should treat others well too.

Two years before, I was admitted to a high school. I felt proud and superior. Therefore, I always looked down upon my classmates who turned for me in their studies. One day, Tom asked me help him workout a math problem. I glanced at it, and said, "It's so easy. What foolish you are!" On hear it, he said angrily, "I won't ask you again." I was shocking. Only then did I realize why I was so unpopular with my classmate. From then on, I tried to treat them equal and helped them with all my heart.
