1 . 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

Located halfway up the Italy’s Apennine Mountain, about 100 miles northeast of Rome, the Hotel Rigopiano has never been easy to reach. But its isolation(隔绝)only adds to its appeal, attracting a great number of tourists.

Snow began to fall across the Apennines in January and lasted for days. From his home in the Rome suburbs, Matrone watched the weather with concern. He and his wife, Cicioni, had planned an overnight getaway to the hotel. But now he wondered whether they should go. After phoning the hotel, they decided to make the trip. By the time they neared the hotel six hours later, they were battling a snowstorm. When they finally arrived, they were both cold and exhausted. They checked into their room and went to bed early.

As they awoke the next day, they discovered that their difficulty had worsened overnight. The cars in the parking lot were invisible. The phone and power lines were down. They were having breakfast when the hotel began to shake. An earthquake with a magnitude(震级)of 5.7 had struck the mountain. “Get out of here!” Matrone shouted to his wife. They headed quickly to the parking lot, where others were digging their cars.Fifteen minutes after the first earthquake, another quake hit, this one measuring 5.6.

With a dozen vehicles freed by noon, the guests set off down the driveway. But when they reached the main road, the path was blocked by a six-foot-high wall of snow.Matrone climbed out of his car and investigated it. There was no road in sight, “We’re trapped!” he told his wife. So they had no choice but to make their way back to the hotel so as to be saved.

As it was getting dark, they managed to be back. That was when the snow on the mountain began to slide. They heard the avalanche (雪崩) before they saw it. The avalanche gathered speed and size, grabbing rocks and trees and anything else in its way down the mountain, tearing the hotel from its foundation. When the avalanche came to a stop, those caught inside the hotel were left buried in the icy rocks and ruins.

2 . 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

Jenny was the only child in her home. She had a quarrel with her mother that afternoon and she ran out of the house angrily. She couldn’t help weeping sorrowfully when she thought of the scolding from her mother. Having wandered aimlessly in the street for hours, she felt a little hungry and wished for something to eat, but it was not even possible for her, since she had nothing with her. She stood beside a stand for a while, watching the middle-aged seller busy doing his business. However, with no money in hand, she sighed and had to leave.

The seller behind the stand noticed the young girl and asked, “Hey, girl, would you like some noodles?”

“Oh, yes... but I don’t have money on me...” she replied.

“That’s nothing. I’ll treat you today,” said the man, “come in.”

The seller brought her a bowl of noodles, whose smell was so attractive. As she was eating, Jenny cried silently.

“What is it?” asked the man kindly.

“Nothing, actually I was just touched by your kindness!” said Jenny as she wiped her tears. “Even a stranger on the street will give me a bowl of noodles, while my mother, drove me out of the house. She showed no care for me. She is so merciless compared to a stranger!”

Hearing the words, the seller smiled “Girl, do you really think so? I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you thanked me a lot. But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby. Can you number the times she cooked for you? Have you expressed your gratitude to her?”

Jenny sat there, speechless and numb with shock; she remembered Mother’s familiar face and weathered hands. “Why did I not think of that? A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel indebted, but I have never thanked my mom for what she has done for me.”

On the way home, Jenny made up her mind to make an apology to her mother for her rudeness as soon as she arrived home.

Since he didn't have anything to do that day, he didn't leave immediately. Instead, he stood outside his grandson's classroom and looked in through the window.

4 . Tim recently graduated from the university and was looking for a job. After searching on the Internet he found out that a famous online business company is recruiting a new office manager. Many candidates applied for the entry exam, but only one would be accepted in the end. Tim noticed the resumes (简历) of other candidates and was surprised to see that some of them held a Master’s Degree or even a Doctor's Degree .But Tim was only a Bachelor, and barely met the lowest requirement of the diploma. Tim felt a bit frustrated because he had no advantage over other candidates who were excellent students. All the candidates entered the exam hall after handing up their resumes. Tim scanned through the pages of the test paper and found out that the questions were very difficult for him. Tim tried to calm down and focus on the questions themselves instead of their difficulty level. He started with the easiest ones and moved on to the more difficult ones slowly.

There were two invigilators (监考人) in the hall , one of them was tall and thin , while the other invigilator was of the opposite: he was short and fat .They seemed to be quite confident about the honesty of the candidates and were absent. After about 10 minutes, one of the invigilators left to answer a phone call. The other invigilator soon went out too.

The atmosphere in the exam hall changed after the invigilators had left .Some of the candidates took out notes and books, some of them brought tablets to search for answers, and some even called others for help .Tim looked back, and he saw the candidate sitting behind him cheating too. The man winked to Tim, as if telling him to cheat in the test because everyone was doing so Tim shook his head and continued doing the difficult problems at a slow pace.

In about half an hour, the invigilators returned to the exam hall. Tim still had one question left blank at the end of the test. He was almost sure that he was not going to be accepted.

My mother used to ask me what is the most important part of the body. Through the years I would take a guess at what I thought was the correct answer.

When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, ''My ears, Mommy.'' She said, ''No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon.''

Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated (考虑)the correct answer. So this time I told her, ''Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes.” She looked at me and told me, “You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind.

Over the years my mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was : ''No, but you are getting smarter every year, my child.''

Then last year, my grandpa died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final goodbye to Grandpa. She asked me,   ''Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?'' I was shocked when she asked me this on this occasion. I always thought this was a game between her and me.   She saw the confusion on my face and told, ''This question is very important. How you answer it shows whether you have learned about life. ''For every body part you gave me in the past, I have told you were wrong and I have given a reason why. But today is the day you will know the answer.

I looked puzzled.

''All your previous answers -- ears, eyes, hands, heart They are all very importantto yourself. But this time I need you think of something that is important to others.''

“Once there was a ship travelling on the tough sea and on the ship there was a pair of couple. All of a sudden, the ship met with an accident and the couple had no choice but to run to the life boat without delay. After reaching there, they realized that there was space only for one person. At that very moment, the husband pushed his wife behind him and jumped onto the lifeboat himself, leaving his wife standing on the sinking ship, shouting something desperately to her husband eyes filled with tears.”

The teacher stopped her story-telling and asked her students, “Guys, guess what it was that she shouted.”

Most students answered. “I hate you!”

After listening to all this reply, the teacher glanced through the whole class again and noticed that there was a boy sitting silently throughout. Then she asked him the same question.

The boy answered, “I believe she would have shouted-Take care of our child.”

Listening to his remarks, the teacher was surprised and asked the boy doubtfully. “Have you heard of this story before?”

Shaking his head, the boy said softly and sadly, “No, I haven’t. But that’s what my mother said to my father before she died of a deadly disease.”

Moved and feeling sad, the teacher replied. “Your answer is absolutely right!”

Then she continued, “Let’s take up the story. The ship sank eventually and the husband went home and brought up their daughter alone. Many years later after the death of the man, their daughter was tidying up all his belongings when she found his diary. 7 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Recently I graduated from high school, and as a gift I received a huge hunch of flowers, 40 to be exact! I had so many that I didn't know what to do with them. The next weekend my niece and nephew, Sue and Mike, aged 6 and 7, came and suddenly I had an idea. I might let them give out these flowers to people they met on the street, and in this way they could learn how to be friendly to others. So I told them about my plan and explained that these flowers would make people feel happy and smile. They loved the idea and were eager to have a try. So at once we took every single flower and tied a smile card to it. We then went to the street with the flowers.

The first flower went to a policeman. As soon as she saw the policeman, my niece ran up to him and handed him a flower. His smile was so big, but hers was even bigger!

In no time, we neared the end of our flowers. It was lunch time and we went to Subway for lunch. There the kids gave a flower to the waitress, who was really excited to receive the flower. As we were eating our lunch, the waitress came up to the kids with two big chocolate cookies! She said the chocolate cookies were for them and that she really liked the flower! As they ate the cookies, my niece and nephew looked at me with the biggest smiles I had ever seen.

One fall,my wife Elli and I had a single goal:to photograph polar bears. We were staying at a research camp outside"the polar bear capital of the world”-the town of Churchill in Manitoba, Canada.

Taking pictures of polar bears is amazing but also dangerous.Polar bears-like all wild animals-should be photographed from a safe distance. When I'm face to face with a polar bear,I like it to be through a camera with a telephoto lens. But sometimes, that is easier said than done. This was one of those times.

As Elli and I cooked dinner,a young male polar bear who was playing in a nearby lake sniffed, and smelled our garlic bread.

The hungry bear followed his nose to our camp, which was surrounded by a high wire fence. He pulled and bit the wire.He stood on his back legs and pushed at the wooden fence posts.

Terrified,Elli and I tried all the bear defense actions we knew.We yelled at the bear, hit pots hard, and fired blank shotgun shells into the air Sometimes loud noises like these will scare bears off.Not this polar bear though-he just kept trying to tear down the fence with his massive paws(爪子)

I radioed the camp manager for help.He told me a helicopter was on its way,but it would be 30 minutes before it arrived.Making the best of this close encounter(相遇),I took some pictures or the bear.

Eilt and I feared the fence wouldn't last through 30 more minutes of the bear's punishment. The camp manager suggested I use pepper spray. The spray burns the bears' eyes, but doesn't hurt them. So I approached our uninvited guest slowly and.through the fence, sprayed him in the face. With an angry roar(吼叫),the bear ran to the lake to wash his eyes.

Para 1.

A few minutes later, the bear headed back to our camp.

Para 2.

At that very moment, the helicopter arrived.

It was somewhere between spring and summer my mom and I were driving through the countryside Back then I was 13 years old and always felt unhappy with Mom. But little did I know that this trip was going to be a special one.

A pot of flowers sat in the back seat, whose heavenly scent filled the car. Suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, my mom pulled over. “What are you doing?” I cried, fearing that the car had broken down and we’d be stuck there, so far from home. But that wasn’t the case. My mom hopped out of the car, grabbing the flowers from the back seat. “It’ll just be a minute” she called back through the open windows.

My eyes impatiently skimmed the edge of the road before settling on a little sign showing that it was a nursing home. I looked back to the building, somewhat annoyed, as my mom reappeared—empty-handed.

Before she started the car, curiosity drove me to ask, “Do you know someone there?” She shook her head. “Then what did you do with the flowers?” She smiled slightly, “I gave them to the receptionist (前台接待员).” “What?” She laughed at my confusion. “I told the receptionist to give the flowers to whoever needed them, especially who hasn’t gotten any in a while.”

I kept silent for a moment. Not long after we continued our driving, I spoke again,“Did you leave your name?” To this she answered instantly, “No. Leaving flowers there for someone who will appreciate them makes me feel good, which is enough of a thank for me.”

Suddenly, still thinking about Mom’s deeds, I heard something burst loudly. It was our car that broke down! Nothing could be worse, because neither my mom nor I understood how to repair it, and we didn’t know where the garage was. It also seemed impossible to wait for any passer-by, since we had seen so few along the way.

We were worrying about what could be done. ______________________________________

As we drove along, a flower shop came into sight on the road. ________________________
