文章大意:这是一篇说明文。本文主要讲述了参观大自然以及发布照片可能会鼓励人们保护环境,但是对摄影和社交媒体的不健康依赖给人类和自然带来了问题。

3 . The wish to capture the wonder of nature on a smartphone or camera is understandable. People like the beauty of nature and also want to share with their followers, friends and family, but our relationship with the outdoors should not be centered around social media. The “do it for the ‘gram’” thought needs to be reconsidered.

Social media has undoubtedly helped attract more visitors to wild places. There are both good and bad sides that come with an increased visitation to these sites. Visiting nature and observing wildlife can help people feel more connected to wild plants and animals. These experiences may encourage more protection of natural spaces. Yet increased traffic to these sites has also caused them harm. Spaces that are ill-equipped to deal with too many visits experience environmental degradation, which in turn can endanger those who take photos by putting them in dangerous situations. Search and rescue cases have increased by 38% in the last few years in LA County, some of which were connected to adventurers trying to capture photos for their social media. Deadly falls in the outdoors can and should be avoided with less photographing for social media.

Recently, one highly visited natural site stopped photography-only tours. Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona, will no longer be allowing visits that are centered around cameras. Handheld phones will still be allowed, but large tripods(三角架) and monopods(独脚架) will not be. This is a great first step that should be brought to other natural settings, especially in places that have already been completely photographed by professionals.

It is necessary to free ourselves from technology every once and a while. The unhealthy attachment to photography and social media feeds has created problems for humans and nature, and should be replaced with practicing mindfulness while in the outdoors.

1. What does the underlined word “degradation” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Change.B.Destruction.C.Construction.D.Depression.
2. What has been the result of visitors taking photos of nature according to the passage?
A.Serious traffic problems.B.Unnecessary travel costs.
C.Some unexpected deaths.D.Their watching fewer scenes.
3. What does the author suggest natural sites do?
A.Limit the number of visitors.B.Follow Antelope Canyon’s lead.
C.Warn visitors to take fewer photos.D.Just allow professional photographing.
4. What is the best title for the text?
A.Learn from professional photographers
B.Nature will punish those who damage it
C.Photos of nature are popular on social media
D.Don’t endanger yourself and nature for social media

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了现代城市可持续发展的规划方式。

7 . It is projected that by the year 2050, the urban population in the world will increase by 2.5 billion. The big question is not how many people can reside in an urban area, but how we can build sustainable and livable cities.     1

Reducing transport emissions is the first step towards sustainable development. A safe and reliable transport system is fundamental to economic growth. However, the fuel driven cars and other petroleum-dependent means of transportation are quite alarming. They are a major source of carbon dioxide emissions.     2     In a sustainable city model, the use of zero-emission electric vehicles is practicable. Besides, encouraging people to walk or cycle around the city is also a reasonable sustainable development model.

3     Parks and gardens go a long way in making a city livable and residents can get a green place to relax and walk freely. In the big cities, more green spaces are being set aside for recreational purposes.     4     These green spaces, forming a mini forest, can reduce air pollution and CO2 emissions and enhance air quality.

Improving the sewer system(排水系统) is also important to clean up our environment.     5     One reason is that streets, buildings and sidewalks are waterproof. So the rainwater only flows on the surface. As a way to deal with and adapt to urban flooding, sewer systems and stormwater networks should be improved. This is much more urgent and practical. Because the old infrastructure cannot serve the new paradigm of rapid environmental change.

A.Urban centers tend to be easily flooded.
B.Recycling waste is important to make our environment clean.
C.Therefore, proper planning needs to be done to ensure a city is livable.
D.Expanding green space is at the center of developing a sustainable city.
E.This is a threat not only to air quality but also to sustainable urban living.
F.Trees and bushes line almost all streets and neighbourhoods of these cities.
G.A sustainable city needs environmentally friendly buildings and green space.

9 . There is always something that happens in the world that everyone fears will happen to their town, city or country: natural disasters. The scariest part of it is that no one will ever see it coming. Though technology helps us prepare, but it never actually tells the people what time it’s going to hit, It is always estimated, but the result is never 100% accurate.

However, that is not the point of this article. Two different natural disasters in two different parts of the world have happened in the past few weeks. One is a major flood that has hit Louisiana in the United States. The other was an earthquake that hit Amatrice, Italy. However. there is a major difference in the news coverage (新闻报道) of the two tragedies.

As for the flooding in Louisiana, it is reported that this disaster is the worst to hit the United States since super - storm Sandy and it’ll cost at least $ 30 million. In only the first couple of weeks, 13 people had died. However, like me, many people did not hear about this tragic event. I did not learn about it until about three weeks after it happened.

In Italy, however, it covered all media instantly. The earthquake in Italy happened on Tuesday morning. That same day, I was on Twitter and that was all that was over the news feed. Every other post was about the earthquake. Some would have the opinion that Amatrice, Italy was one of the most beautiful towns in that country. I got in deep sorrow because there were more people killed in this quake than the flooding. So far, they have a total of 73 dead and over one - hundred missing.

I understand that technically the earthquake in Italy was worse than the floods in Louisiana. However, I believe that if a natural disaster happens, they all should be equally covered and taken equally as serious. We are one world united and should be there for all of the people out there who are in need of help. We may not be able to accurately predict disasters, but we can surely lend a hand out for the needy.

1. What really concerns the author about the two natural disasters?
A.The death and the injured.B.The media report.
C.The government’s responsibility.D.Their economic loss.
2. Why did the author learn about the flood so late?
A.He didn't care about the flood.B.He felt nervous about the news.
C.The media didn't cover it in time.D.The flood frightened the author a lot.
3. How does the author feel about the earthquake in Italy?
A.Proud.B.Critical.C.Pitiful.D.Sad.
4. What does the author really want to say in the text?
A.Italy isn’t good at predicting the natural disasters.
B.All natural disasters should be covered equally.
C.The world should be united into one instantly.
D.America should help Italy predict natural disasters.
