They look really beautiful in shape of a diamond, about 5 inches long and 4 inches widely. Appeared in ancient China, these knots stands for friendship, love and good luck. I have two foreign friends, Kari and Vance, which come from the USA. Now they were teaching English in a university in Nanjing. Last year they paid the visit to our school. I had never meet any foreigners before. Beside, I wanted very much to know how I was getting on my spoken English, so I went over to talk with them. All of them were surprising a school student could speak English. And they suggested to taking a photo together. Since then we have been good friends and now we write English letter to each other often.

I can well remember how happily I was every time my mother celebrated my birthday. Every year on my birthday, my mother used buy a large cake and some gifts for me. The whole family would sit around the table, sharing the delicious food cooking by my mother.

Summer can be very hot in my hometown. Because this I stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and only occasionally go to the beach to get me into the cool water. What is the standard of beauty？Different time have different standards. In our parents' generation, it is believed that a girl should be a little fatter, because it meant that she lived better life. While the thin girls ,which would be thought to be lacking for happiness, were not appreciated. And today, the most important standard of beauty is to be thin. The thinner , the better. At the commercial ads, all of the models are skinny, look so elegant. When I see my friends work hardly to lose weight, I feel worried about them. The beauty's standard will change over time and that health is more important than meeting any supposing standard of beauty.

Last winter holiday, my brother and I went to countryside to live with our grandparents for nearly three week. Although the weather here was much colder, but we got used to it and felt at home. Every morning, we got up early than our grandparents and go for a walk. After breakfast, we went to have a chat with our new friends Peter, which we happened to come across during the holiday. Peter was a native and quite warm-heartedly boy and he was familiar to country life well. After parting, Peter and I have kept write to each other.

March 12 is memorable because our class had a meaningful experience in that day. In the morning, we cycled to suburbs to plant trees, talking and laughed all the way. Upon arrival, we began to work hardly. Some were digging holes. Some are carrying and planting young trees. Others were watering it. After getting the work done, we put up a board reminding of people to protect the trees. Before leaving we took some photo to record our green action. Seen the lines of trees, we all had a sense of achievement. We feel it’s our duty to protect or beautify our environment.
