Last Saturday, I took part in an English speech competition hold by our school. I was really excited about it. When it was my turn, I walked onto the stage. I felt nervously and frightened with such large a crowd looking at me! I was about to give up as I saw my family members seated there. I regained belief in me at once. I was announced as one of the second-prize winner and all my family take great pride in me for my success.

I am glad to have participated in contest. I learnt a lot of from this experience. I improved my English speaking skills. I also learnt what to face people bravely and confidently.

There was a lively discussion holding in my class last Friday. It was main about protecting the fine Chinese culture. Some suggested raising people's awareness of preserving our culture and making people fall in love with them. For example, we could conduct creative activity like discovery tours and culture shows to help people have better understanding of our culture. Others think some courses should be offered in schools，which goal was to help students learn more about our customs, ways of life and so on. And in my view, what was mattered was that everyone should feel proud in our own culture. Also, we should attempt to passing our fine culture down from generation to generation.

Last Friday's afternoon witnessed the annual English Speech Contest at school, which was such great that many students thought highly of it. Over twenty students took the part in the competition. As the competition began, participants gave speech and answered a few questions for judges. In the last hour, three participants in the final competed fiercely, offer excellent performances. The results came out soon and the winners awarded.

The competition is really meaning and inspirational. Actually, it is not just a simple competition and an important platform where students can express them in English and build up their confidence in English learning.

Last Friday our class invited an old man to teach us why to make dough figurines（面人）. When he comes into our classroom ,we gave him warm welcome and two boys helped him with the tool box. First, he showed us basic steps and skills of made dough figurines. We stood around him and watched careful. Then we started to have a try itself. The old man walked around and helped with us patiently. Finally, we put the figurines we made on the table and took several picture with the old man. Look at the figurines, we were all very exciting.We believe we could have more activities of this kind in the future.
