Most people graduate from school and then get a job. Everyone wants a job that pays well. How much money can you make? Ask yourself these questions: What can I do? What skills do I have? Also ask yourself: How much education do I have? For most jobs, the higher your education, the higher your earning power.

It was a hot day, so they took off their shoes to put their toes in the river. He described excitedly to me the wonderful feeling of the cool river water.
This isn’t a common preschool in the United States. It’s a forest school. A large part of my son’s school day takes place across 1,000 square meters of forest.
Today’s kids are under great pressure. They are required to learn more. However, outdoor time for children is decreasing (减少). This caused many problems.
More and more parents have realized the importance of outdoor play. The number of forest schools in the US has jumped from 20 in 2008 to 250. Forest school kids spend their days watching ant hills, jumping in mud or even climbing tall trees. There are no direct instructions.
Are forest schools really better for today’s children than traditional preschools? The answer depends largely on whom you ask. Personally, I like forest schools. Because my son has been more active and brighter with improved problem-solving skills. He also has learned how to deal with small dangers and how to protect the environment. Most importantly, my son is excited to go to school every day. Do you spend most of your time studying indoors? Remember to hug nature sometimes.

More and more people dislike cheek kissing in modern society. In a survey in March, 2021, half of the people who were interviewed said they would stop using cheek kissing in the future. And 78% would no longer use it with strangers. Men, however, only kissed other men if they were close friends or family.
The question of whether cheek kissing is here to stay or go is not just a matter of changing personal greeting ways, but how a nation expresses itself. In France, many people are finding themselves dislike to kiss when they see each other. They choose to bump (碰撞) arms to greet each other. Italians choose to greet friends with chest-to-chest contact (胸与胸的接触) but with heads turning away from each other. It is believed that close body contact can bring people together.
It’s important to note that cheek kissing hasn’t been around forever. In fact, this kind of social custom has been shut down before because of diseases. For example, at the time that the Black Death broke out in Europe in the 14th century, people stopped kissing each other as a way of greeting. It wasn’t until about a century ago that cheek kissing was brought back. So, is cheek kissing on its way to becoming a relic(历史遗迹) again?

But why do you have dreams and goals, you still end up with nothing? What separates successful people from the dreamers is their persistent (锲而不舍的) action. When you learn your lessons in school, you must work hard and not give up. You will often find some of your lessons very hard. Try and keep trying, and you’ll be sure to successfully deal with any difficulty you meet with. If we have a hard lesson today, let us try our best to learn it well and then we shall be prepared for a harder one tomorrow.
This is the famous formula (公式) for success:
Dream > Believe > Achieve
Most people have what they want (Dream) and think they can realize their dreams (Believe). And then they do nothing. They just imagine their dreams can come true. When they get tired waiting and lose a lot, they get bored. They say angrily how terrible their life is.
I personally believe that if you really want to achieve your dreams and goals in life, you have to add one thing to your success formula:
Dream > Believe > Act > Achieve
For me, act is the most important thing for success and that’s to Take Persistent Action (Act). If you say, “I can’t do it” and give up, you can never do anything valuable. However, “I’ll try” creates wonders. Let’s remember that there will be obstacles in our life. We must face them bravely and solve them. Success is not something that falls down from the sky. Most successful people made their dreams come true because of their persistent action.
Please remember: Action is the bridge that connects our dreams and goals to reality.

During the Song Dynasty, doctors needed to show they understood meridians (经络) — paths of energy running through the body.
If you were the one to take the exam, you would be asked to show how you would treat symptoms on a life-sized model covered in wax (蜡). Under the wax, the model would be made of bronze (铜), filled with water, and covered in holes running along the meridian paths.
You would need to place an acupuncture needle (针灸用的针) into the correct part of a meridian to pass the exam. If you got it right, the needle would go straight through he hole, and water would pour out of the model. If you picked the wrong spot, the needle would hit the bronze model and you failed.
The exams wanted to make sure all young doctors knew how to treat patients hitting the same correct acupuncture points.
The first “bronze man” acupuncture model was made in 1026 by one of the great doctors named Wang Weiyi. Wang also wrote a book that was used across the country to teach how to use the model. Now you can see a copy of one of these bronze men in China’s National Museum.

How did this happen? First, we must think about how water gets into Lake Ponkapog. When it rains, water comes into the lake from all around. In the past, there were forests all around Lake Ponkapog, so the rainwater was clean.
Now there are many homes around the lake. People often use chemicals(化学物品) in their gardens. There are also many factories. Factories use chemicals in their machines or shops. Other chemicals fall onto the ground from cars or trucks. When it rains, the rainwater picks up all the chemicals from homes and factories and then carries them into the lake. They pollute the water and kill the animals.
Boats on the lake are also a problem. Lake Ponkapog is a popular place for motorboats. But oil and gas from boats often get into the lake. So more bad chemicals go into the water this way.
People in Hartwell are worried. They love their lake and want to save it. Will it be possible?
A clean lake must have clean rainwater. Clean rainwater is possible only if people are more careful about chemicals at home and at work. They must also be more careful about gas and oil and other chemicals on the ground. And they mustn’t use motorboats any more on the lake. All these may change people’s lives. Only then can Lake Ponkapog be a beautiful, clean lake again.
1. Which of the following can not pollute the water in Lake Ponkapog?A.Rainwater from the forest. | B.Oil and gas from motorboats. |
