文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者教外国人学习汉语的经历。

1 . My new neighbors are a foreign family who just came to China. The parents are both work in China and their son, John, is a student. They asked me whether I would be willing to work as a “part-time teacher” to teach them some basic Chinese so that they can know Chinese better, and I agreed.

At first, I thought it would be a piece of cake. How hard would it be to learn Chinese? So I didn’t really prepare anything in advance (提前). I thought I had enough Chinese to teach foreigners.

However, to think is one thing, to do it well is another. When I started teaching, I realized that there’s so much culture and history in our language. Why are there four tones (音调) in Chinese? Who created Chinese characters? How come some Chinese characters look like the things they stand for and some don’t?

I came home quite regretful for I didn’t know the answers to those questions. I always thought teaching Chinese was easy, but it turns out that it’s not. Chinese is a beautiful language that is rich in culture. What we learned of Chinese at school was just the tip of the iceberg (冰山).

This “part-time job” is indeed a great learning experience for myself. I realized that I needed a deeper understanding of my own language, so that one day, I would be able to proudly share more information about fantastic Chinese language.

A.The writer is pleased with his new students.
B.The writer knows the Chinese knowledge deeply.

A.We leaned enough Chinese at school.

D.What we have learnt Chinese at school is just a small part of Chinese culture.
3. Choose the right order of the passage.
a. The writer’s new neighbors asked him to teach them some basic Chinese.
b. The writer felt regretful for he didn’t know the answers of the questions.
c. The writer prepared nothing for his teaching.
d. The writer realized that he needed a deeper understanding of his own language.
A.a-c-b-dB.a-b-c-dC.a-c-d-bD.c-a-b-d
4. What does the writer want to tell us?
A.Chinese is hard to learn.
B.The writer knows little about Chinese.
C.We have learned enough knowledge at school.

Dad is a quiet person. He never says he loves me.

The food stand was near my school. Every day when I finished school, my classmates and I would pass by Dad’s food stand. But I really hated talking to Dad at that moment. I didn’t want my classmates to know that my dad was selling noodles in the street!

One night at home, I couldn’t stand it anymore and shouted, “Dad, could you stop selling your stupid noodles? I don’t want a father who sells noodles in the street!” At that moment, Dad was shocked. He tried to say something but he didn’t. His eyes were filled with tears and sadness. It was the first time that I had seen Dad crying.

My mom later told me that Dad was selling noodles to save money for my college education. I was such a fool. Even today I still regret shouting at Dad. Although Dad is still quiet now, I can feel a connection between us. And it becomes something special — “a silent father’s love”.
