文章大意:本文主要讲述了巴甫洛娃蛋糕的起源。

1 . Which is better: Peking or Tsinghua University? I often hear this question asked in China. It reminds me of a question I often hear at home: Who invented the pavlova (巴甫洛娃蛋糕): Australia or New Zealand?

Growing up in Australia, I’d often eat pavlova when we celebrate a festival or when friends come over for dinner. This cake which is topped with cream and fruit not only looks beautiful but tastes amazing too. It’s no wonder that both Australians and New Zealanders see it as their own. So whose is it really?

Two patriotic(爱国的) pavlova fans, New Zealander Andrew Wood and Australian Annabelle Utrecth decided to write a book to find out pavlova’s real origin(起源). At first, they met online and argued about it! Then, they met face to face and spent almost seven years looking through thousands of old cookbooks, newspapers and even paintings together. They learned that its history goes back more than 200 years to German-speaking areas in Europe. Today’s cooking form dates back to the US in the 1860s. The first pavlova invention story goes back to 1926 in New Zealand and to 1935 in Australia.

Based on this, the Oxford English Dictionary credits (归功于) the first written record of the recipe to New Zealand, but lists pavlova’s origin as being both Australia and New Zealand.

1. What can we see on the top of the Pavlova cake?
________________________
2. Why did the two pavlova fans write a book?
________________________
3. How did Wood and Utrecth work together during the seven years?

4. When does the first pavlova invention story go back to in New Zealand?

5. Where is Pavlova cake the most popular today?

Moving into a new home in a new neighborhood is an exciting experience. Here are three tips to help you become a good neighbor that everyone likes quickly.

Taking care of what belongs to you.

Perhaps one of the most important things you can do as a good neighbor is to keep your home tidy, clean, and in good repair. People seem to take pride in keeping everything on their street fresh and in order. By keeping the outside of your home in great shape, you will help to improve the look and feel of the whole area.

Caring about the neighborhood’s appearance.

Would you like to take the whole appearance of the neighborhood seriously? Will you pick up the waste paper thrown out from a passing car when taking a walk in the neighborhood? This small act will let your neighbors know that you really care about the area.

Being helpful and respecting others.

A good neighbor is also one who likes to help out in small ways. If a neighbor is going to be out of town, offer to collect mail and newspapers. If a neighbor feels unwell, help to do the daily shopping. Let them know that you are there to help in any way, while still respecting the privacy(隐私) of your neighbors.

Being a good neighbor is more or less about proper and understanding behavior. By following the basic rules, you will quickly make it.

3 . When you have a problem with your homework, what do you do? Many people used to put a picture of the homework online to find answers. Not any more.

10 . Mobile phones have become popular for both adults and teenagers. Today most of the teenagers own a mobile phone.

Parents have realized that mobile phones are useful for their children as they make the children safer. Teenagers spend most of their time outside and so parents are always worried about their whereabouts (行踪). With mobile phones, parents feel comfortable and they no longer need to wonder if their teenager is going to be late or is having a problem. Teenagers are allowed to call their parents and ask for help if they are in trouble.

But this can also add up costs of their mobile bills. As we know, teenagers enjoy talking on the phone and sending messages to their friends, and parents may end up paying high bills. Another disadvantage is that teenagers lose their mobile phones quite often. So they need to be responsible and use their mobile phones carefully. Most parents agree that though teenagers want to have a mobile phone, they should use them safely.

When children use mobile phones, the following things should be noted:
