Most of Greenland (格陵兰岛) is white because it’s covered with snow and ice, which is different from what its called. A special canyon (峡谷) was found there.
In 2013, a group of scientists was studying the environment in Greenland. They were using special tools to look for the rocks deep below the ice.
The canyon runs for at least 750 kilometers and is 800 meters deep. It is longer than any other canyon on Earth and is nearly as deep as the Grand Canyon in the United States.
How was Greenland’s Grand Canyon formed? There are two possible ways. The first is that the canyon was formed by huge ice. When ice slowly moved across the land, it cut its surface and created deep holes.
The discovery of Greenland’s icy Grand Canyon is quite surprising. The canyon also helps scientists understand the history of Greenland.

3 . You can hardly pay no attention to hunger. Hunger has many different causes, according to Dr. Monique Tello from Harvard Medical School.
The first cause may be medical problems. If a person always feels hungry and can’t put on weight or even loses weight, he should go to the hospital. For people with Type I diabetes (糖尿病), their body isn’t able to process sugar (分解糖). They eat a lot, but still lose weight and they feel terrible.
If it isn’t a medical cause, the problem could be in the head. It’s reasonable to be hungry every three to five hours. However, you are likely to eat often and a lot after watching food advertisements on TV or social media. Also, the larger your stomach gets and the more you want to eat. A person’s state of mind can play a role, too. Research has shown that stress can increase levels of ghrelin (饥饿激素). Pressure and worry can send people looking into the fridge when they’re not truly hungry.
Another reason may be the lifestyle: Sometimes the reason why a person is always hungry is that he eats too little, exercises too much, or both.
So, what are the solutions? First, reduce your time on watching food advertisements on TV and social media. In addition, say no to food if you’re not really hungry. Finally, change your diet by eating more food high in fiber (纤维), protein (蛋白质) and healthy fats.

Dear teachers and classmates,
As we are going to say goodbye to junior high school days, I am filled with a mix of feelings—-joy for the happy days we’ve spent together and excitement for the journey that lies ahead. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
In China, lots of students often use much of their time to study their lessons and don’t help with housework at home. Some students don’t think they need to do housework. Some parents don’t let their children do it. As a result, students are all in need of basic skills.
Luckily, things are changing. In 2021, many schools began to teach students life skills. Guangming Middle School in Shenyang built some farming clubs. There students learnt to plant vegetables. “At first I thought I could only grow some vegetables here, but in fact, I learnt a lot about vegetables,” said Cheng Bing, a girl at the school.
In Hope Middle School, students have a special life skill class: They learn to make dumplings in different kinds of shapes. “I couldn’t make dumplings before, but now I am good at doing it. I really love my life skill class. It’s my favourite class,” said Jia Yan, a boy at the school.
As we know, learning life skills is as important as learning Chinese and maths, because it helps us prepare for our future life. Boys and girls, do you help your parents do housework at home? If not, maybe you should get started now.

Everybody knows that protecting the environment today will prepare for a better tomorrow. Kids can also be taught to do their bit for helping the environment.
Save every drop of water
A large number of people just have the water running when they are washing faces or brushing teeth.
Stop playing video games to save energy.
Video games use a lot of energy. Encourage kids to go out to play in the fresh air or finish their homework instead of playing these video games.
Teach kids to turn off lights when they are not in use.
Most of the time, kids will leave the lights on when they leave the classroom. Since kids are not told about environmental problems, they do not know they are wasting electricity.
Try not to use paper cups and plates whenever possible. Cutting down on use of paper wherever possible will help to save more trees. Use recycled paper.
Educate kids about saving the environment.
Kids should be taught to protect the environment at a young age.
A.In this way, kids can save energy. |
B.Ask your kids to try to save paper. |
C.All in all, we should reduce the use of paper. |

As a part of the Chinese zither (弹拨乐器) family, guqin has a history of over 3,000 years. Fuxi, a legendary ancestor (祖先) of the Chinese nation, is believed by many to be the inventor of the guqin.
A story about the guqin has been around for centuries in China. During the Spring and Autumn Period, there lived a great musician called Boya. He was very good at playing it.

Ziqi (子期) said, “Wow, it seems that the mountains are just before my eyes.” Boya then played another one. Ziqi said, “I seem to see the flowing river.”
Ziqi could understand his music so well and they became good friends. They made a plan to meet again at the same place the next year. The next year. Boya was told Ziqi was dead. He was very sad. After playing the music of High Mountains and Flowing Water, he broke the qin and never played again. When you see someone drowning, never jump into the water to try to save him if you can’t swim. Remember to ask adults for help in time. When you go boating, you must wear a life vest(救生衣).
Some strangers may give you snacks or other things to show kindness. They may also invite you to his or her home, offer you a ride, or ask you for detailed information about you or your family. Say no to them and leave as fast as you can. If you find yourself in danger, shout “Help!” loudly or find out a safe way to get help.

Each student was going to grow a pot of bean plants. When the plants grew big and strong, the students were to plant them in a garden at the school.
Shawn explained that his teacher taught them how to make the seeds grow. First, they put the seeds on a wet paper towel. Then, they put them near a warm window. When the seeds sprout (发芽), they are ready to be transplanted (移植) into a pot.
After listening to his grandson, Mr. Worth said, “You can do just as you learned, but I want to show you one more thing about growing plants.”
“When I was a boy, my father showed me how to grow strong plants,” he continued. “When the plant is starting out, you put some weight on it.” Shawn looked at his grandfather in surprise. “Doesn’t the weight stop the bean from growing?” he asked. “No, of course not. This way, you will force the bean plant to be strong and healthy. If you give it everything it wants, it will grow too fast and it will be weak. It will fall over when the first big wind blows.”
