文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章阐述了大多数人们在午饭后困倦的原因,并指出午睡对我们的健康很重要,以及一些午睡的提示。

1 . Are you sometimes a little tired and sleepy in the early afternoon? Many people feel this way after lunch. They may think that eating lunch is the cause of the sleepiness. Or, in summer, they may think it is the heat. However, the real reason lies inside their bodies. At that time about eight hours after you wake up, your body temperature goes down. This is what makes you slow down and feel sleepy. Scientists have tested sleep habits in experiments where there was no night or day. The people in these experiments almost always followed a similar sleeping pattern. They slept for one long period and then for one short period about eight hours later.

In many parts of the world, people take naps in the middle of the day. This is especially true in warmer weather, in which the heat makes work difficult in the early afternoon. Researchers are now saying that naps are good for everyone in any weather. A daily nap gives one a more rested body and mind, which is good for health in general. In countries where naps are traditional, people don’t often have problems such as heart disease.

Many working people, unluckily, have no time to take naps. Though doctors may advise taking naps, employers (老板) do not allow it! If you do have the chance, however, here are a few tips about making the most of your nap. Remember that the best time to take a nap is about eight hours after you get up. A short sleep too late in the day may only make you feel more tired and sleepy afterward. This can also happen if you sleep for too long. If you do not have enough time, try a short nap. Even ten minutes of sleep can be helpful.

文章大意:本文介绍了聊天工具微信。

2 . Nowadays, WeChat has become the most popular way of communication in China. According to some people, there are many reasons for the popularity of WeChat. First of all, it is easy to use. You can start a conversation by tapping the Speak button. In addition, WeChat is a wonderful platform for people to share plenty of information. Also, using WeChat, you can have group chats, pay, play online games, send lucky money or find new friends nearby to talk to.

On the other hand, some people argue that although WeChat benefits us a lot, it has some disadvantages. When using WeChat, people may forget time and some may even lose themselves in it, which may affect their study or work. At the same time, spending too much time on the screen does affect eye health which may cause trouble. Worse still, people may give away their personal information while using it, which may lead to crime.

As far as I know, everyone should use WeChat in a right way and shouldn’t spend too much time on it. It’s very important for us to protect ourselves when we use it.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章向读者阐述了ABCs和香蕉人的意义。

3 . You may know the English letters A, B and C. But do you know there are people called ABCs? You may like eating bananas. But do you know there are such people with the name of “banana persons”? Are these people from “another planet”? — No. They are just Chinese people like you and me.

6 . 根据短文内容,用符合语意及语法规则的词填空。

Many people in England are angry that drivers park their cars on the pavements(人行道). Cars that are on the pavements block(堵)people from walking safely down the street. They have to walk into the road to get around the cars.

The charity for the blind, Guide Dogs, said blocking the pavement is “inconsiderate and dangerous”. It says it’s a lot more difficult for blind people to walk around the town if cars are in their way. A spokesman for the charity told the BBC, “It can be frightening for anyone who is forced to step into a road because the pavement is blocked by a truck, a car or other badly parked vehicle. Imagine you have to step into a road where you can’t see oncoming traffic.”

A survey on parking in Britain found that 70 percent of people want a ban(禁令)on parking on pavement. A town south of London has already started a system to get drivers to park on the road or in a proper car park. Any motorist who parks on the pavement gets a 115 fine. However, many people say the fines do not work. Local people say car owners don’t mind the fine and park where they want. People pushing their children in baby cars and people in wheelchairs are afraid to walk on busy roads where there is heavy traffic.
