1 . When you want to go shopping, you usually think how much money you can spend on new clothes first. Think about the kind of clothes you really need. There are labels (标签) inside all new clothes. The labels can tell you how to look after your clothes.

Today many clothes must be dry cleaned (干洗). Dry cleaning is expensive. When you buy new clothes , you should see if they need to be dry cleaned. If you buy clothes that can be washed (能水洗的), you will save money. If you buy clothes that are well-made, you will save money, too. Well-made clothes can last longer. 2 . Everyone knows that buildings don’t move. They can’t change the way they look. However, architect(建筑师) David Fisher wants to change that.

Fisher has an amazing idea. He wants to make 80-storey buildings that change shape. Each floor will move around slowly. The floors will move at different speeds. Because of this, the shape of the building is always changing. “These buildings will never look the same,” says Fisher.

His idea is an interesting one. However, Fisher doesn’t stop there. He also wants the building to be green. The building will make its own energy. In most buildings, only the top floor has a roof(屋顶). In Fisher’s building, each floor will have its own roof. The roofs each have solar panels(太阳能板). This means a lot more solar energy. Also, machines between each floor of the building will catch the wind. They will turn the wind into energy.

Fisher’s ideas sound impossible. However, that’s what people also said before humans traveled into space!

1. Why does Fisher’s building look always different? (回答问题,不超过14个词)

3 . Have you ever dreamed of traveling in space? For many kids, staring at the stars leads to daydreams about what it would be like to be an astronaut. Just think about how amazing it would be to set foot on the moon or another planet!

Although it sounds like it would be great fun to travel to outer space, it would be a lot of work, too. Traveling to outer space needs lots and lots of preparation.

Once you are in space, nothing can come on board the ship and nothing can go out. You must take all you need into outer space to keep yourself alive. Let's call these things "inputs", including food, water and oxygen. Every input creates an output. If you open a box of cookies for breakfast, what will you do with the box when it's empty? Every piece of rubbish you create in space will remain on the ship with you. ________ Your body will also output food and water. Since nothing can leave the spaceship, you will have to think of another way to deal with these bodily wastes.

Even breathing creates an output carbon dioxide(二氧化碳)! It's true that plants depend on carbon dioxide in the same way humans depend on oxygen to breathe. However, plants have other input needs. If you take a banana tree with you, you will need to bring enough water to keep it alive. You must also consider another type of output rubbish in the ship after taking the fruit as snacks-the banana peel.

See how carefully you have to plan for a trip to outer space? How can you plan your actions on earth to have the least influence on the environment and your future? Not only do you have to think about all the things you'll need, you will also have to consider the influence of those things because of the wastes they may create.

1. What can we learn from the first two paragraphs?
A.It's difficult to be an astronaut.B.It's boring to live on the moon.
C.It's relaxing to stare at the stars.D.It's challenging to travel in space.
2. What do we know about the input in space?
A.It will make astronauts sleepy.B.It is quite important to astronauts.
C.It only means things to eat and drink.D.It can help astronauts deal with rubbish.
3. Which of the following can be put in ________?
A.Isn't it possible to cook cookies in space?
B.Would you like to have cookies for breakfast?
C.Can you think of a way to cut down on the waste output?
D.Would you like to cook your favorite dishes in space?
4. What can be the best title for the passage?
A.How to prepare for trip to outer spaceB.How to deal with wastes in the spaceship
C.Differences between inputs and outputsD.Different ways to deal with wastes in space

Shanghai University of Engineering Science has become the first university in China to be covered by 5G net work, the university announced on Tuesday.

Chinese mobile carriers (运营商) are expected to spend 1.2 trillion yuan ( US $176.5 billion) on 5G by 2025, 50 percent more than their total 4G investment(投资), Nomura said yesterday. Carriers including China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom are expected to build over 9 million 5G base stations by 2025.

5G is a "game-changing" opportunity for carriers as they can explore new business like smart manufacturing, super high definition video and smart driving instead of just being a "pipeline" for voice and data services.

China will supply “temporary” 5 licenses in several aimed cities this year. Consumers(消费者) will be able to use the first batch of 5G smart-phone and tablet computers in the second half.

It's the first time that China's top industry regulator clarified the 5G industry timeline, especially the first appearance of 5G phones.

But 5G services will become accessible to normal consumers later than expected. More work needs to be done to make the 5G industry fully developed which won't happen until 2020, said UBS recently. New business projects and organizations, rather than normal consumers, will enjoy 5G services at first. The first batch of 5G services will be available to consumers in about 10 cities only.

6 . Today, people who need heart transplants (移植) must wait and hope to receive a donation. Even if they survive the wait, they might experience organ rejection (器官排异)and die. But this problem could be solved soon.

On April 15, 2019, scientists from Israel’s Tel Aviv University announced that they had created a human heart using 3D printing. “This is the first time anyone anywhere has successfully engineered and printed an all heart,” scientist Tal Dvir told Ha’aretz.

The heart has cells, blood vessels(血管), ventricles(心室) and chambers(心房), just like a real heart. But scientists still have more to make certain before they can start using the hearts. For one thing, the new experimental organ(器官) is tiny about half the size of your thumb(拇指). It also can’t pump(抽吸) blood yet. It’s like a tiny airplane that has all of the right parts, but can’t fly.

Don’t laugh, though! This is still a major achievement. The World Health Organization (WHO) says more people die each year from heart diseases than any other cause of death. Dvir and his team used a complex process, turning human fat tissue(脂肪组织) into human heart tissue with stem cells(干细胞) technology. The tissue was then turned into “bio-ink” for the 3D printer.

Perfectly, each printed heart would use tissue taken from the person who needs it. This way, the patients’ bodies will be less likely to refuse the organ, making transplants much safer. In theory, the skill could be used to produce a new heart in just one day.

The team’s next step is to develop the technology further and use it to print other human organs.

“Maybe, in 10 years, there will be organ printers in the finest hospitals around the world and these programs will be managed regularly,” Dvir said.

1. What do we know about the 3D printed heart?
A.It doesn’t have blood vessels.B.It is the same size as a real heart.
C.It can’t work like a real heart yet.D.It looks like a tiny airplane.
2. Why is the 3D printed heart considered to be a major achievement?
A.Because it is the first time that scientists has tried to print a heart.
B.Because it offers some hope to people with heart diseases.
C.Because it was produced through a complex process.
D.Because it proved that printing human organs is impossible.
3. What was used to make the printed heart?
A.Fat tissue.B.Heart tissue.C.Stem cells.D.Heart cells.
4. What will Dvir’s team do in the future?
A.They will start to print hearts for transplants.
B.They will try to shorten the time it take print a heart.
C.They will improve their technology wider use.
D.They will work with hospitals to develop printers.
5. What’s the best title of the passage?
A.3D printer.B.Organ transplants.C.Build new heart.D.Human organs.

8 . There are several ways from which to choose for you to keep your kids safe in your neighborhood. But the first step is to know your neighbors.

Knowing your neighbors can save you a lot of worry. It lets you know that the car that has just driven down the street belongs to “the yellow house on the corner”, or the truck that has just driven by the playground looks unfamiliar, but the guy in the passenger seat resides(居住)two doors down. It’s these simple things that keep you from going out of your mind whenever you see someone driving by where children are playing.

But you shouldn’t just know what they look like. The next step is to know them well. What do they do? How do they act? You might be OK with them driving by the playground since they live in the neighborhood, but are you OK with them being on the playground? Knowing your neighbors solves several things. First you find out what kind of people they are. This helps you know if you should let your child go out in an area where they gather. Let us face it: you do not want your child to play around people or people’s children that curse(咒骂)or hit each other. Sometimes you have to protect you child against your own neighbors.

Knowing them also makes them know you. Being neighbors is an interesting thing. You might not like them or have the same views as them, but we all usually protect those that we consider our own. If you know your neighbors, they know you. They are more likely to look after the child of the nice lady down the street in the brick (砖)house, than the people, in the house on the corner, who no one ever sees.

A.it is important for you to be polite to your neighbors
B.people in the same neighborhood are quite different
C.knowing your neighbors helps to keep your kids safe
5. In the last paragraph, the writer wants to tell us that          .

B.the neighbors would like to help people they know
C.we should like and have the same views as the neighbor
