文章大意:本文主要介绍了植物传播种子繁殖的几种方式。
4 . 根据短文内容,判断1-5小题句子的正(A)或误(B),并在答题卡的相应位置将其涂黑。

Every living thing needs to reproduce(繁殖). Reproducing means creating more members of your group. In order for plants to reproduce, they have to spread their seeds(种子)to other areas. Plants have developed all kinds of ways to do this.

The simplest way is gravity(重力). Many seeds are inside of fruit. When fruit gets too heavy, it falls from a tree to the ground. Sometimes animals will pick up the fruit and drop it in another area. That helps move the seed even farther away. Apples spread this way.

Other plants use wind to spread their seeds. Dandelions(蒲公英)are a good example of this. Dandelion seeds are so light that when wind blows, it carries dandelion seeds to new places. Maple(枫树)seeds also use wind. Their seeds are connected with long, thin leaves that look like wings. When the seed falls from the tree, its “wings” help it fly farther from the tree.

Some animals help plants spread their seeds. The animals eat the seeds. While the seed is in the animal’s body, it stays whole. When the seed leaves the animal, it’s in a new place.

Ants also help spread seeds. Some seeds have a special smell that appeals to ants. The ants bring the seeds back to their home, which of course is underground. They only eat part of the seed. They leave the rest of the seed underground. After that, the seed can start growing.

Almost a quarter of the kids said they fell asleep more than once a week while watching TV, listening to music or using other electronic products.

“This is very worrying,” said Dr. Chris Idzikowski, a British expert (专家). “We call it ‘junk sleep’. It means you don’t get enough sleep and the quality of the sleep is bad, too. If you don’t get good rest, you don’t perform well in school the next day.”

9 . lt is becoming more and more important for scientists to closely monitor(监视) our ocean life. However, it is almost impossible since we can scare the animals. Now, thanks to SoFi, the Soft Robotic Fish(软机器鱼), scientists may not only be able to keep a close eye on them, but also uncover undersea secrets that we haven’t known for centuries.

Built by MrTs(麻省理工学院的)Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the snow white romote-controlled (远程控制的) robot closely emulates real fish, with a soft tail that moves from side to side and two “fins”(鳍). To make sure SoFi can freely move around the ocean and swim like a real fish, a hydraulic pump(水泵) moves water from one balloon-like part to the other through SoFi’s soft rubber tail.

Robert Katzschmann, a scientist from MTs Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, says, “To our knowledge, this is the first robotic fish that can swim freely in three dimensions(维) for a long time.”

During the test in the sea, SoFi swam at the depths of 50 feet for up to 40 minutes at a time, taking photos. Sometimes the fish would swim near the strange-looking robot-fish, while at other times they appeared without noticing it.

SoFi now only records videos, the scientists also hope to make it more autonomous(自动的)in the future. “For us, this fish is magical,” says Robert. “We imagine someday it might help us uncover more mysteries from the amazing underwater world that we know so little about. ”

10 . Do you ever feel like your thoughts are going around in circles? One minute, you’re thinking about your homework. The next time, you’re thinking about your plans for the weekend.

Is it possible for us to slow our thoughts down or even stop them completely? It depends on your definition(定义)of “thinking”, according to Michael Halassa, a researcher at MIT, US. We go through each day in one of two states(状态)— we either realize that we’re thinking or we don’t.

However, our brains won’t stop thinking completely until we die. The brain never actually stops thinking. Most thoughts are actually in the background(在后面进行)without us noticing them and there’s not really a way to turn these things off. Human brains can process about 11 million pieces of information each second.

You can compare this to how a computer works. Even when you aren’t using your computer while it’s turned on, it is till running “in the background”. Your computer, much like your brain, keeps “thinking”, even if you’re not actively using it.

The phenomenon is considered as “thought-chatter”(思想聊天). It describes the thoughts in and out of our mind at different times during the day.

Some thought-chatter can be enjoyable, such as daydreaming. Albert Einstein came up with his famous theory of relativity(相对论)while daydreaming at work.

But too much thought-chatter can make us feel too upset or worried. How can we solve the unpleasant influence? Thinking deeply and seriously can help us clean up some of this thought-chatter.
