2 . For millions of years, the water we use today has been recycled (再循环) over and over by natural cycles that clean the water after we use it. But those natural cycles are no longer enough to clean all the waste that humans put into it, and our water has become polluted.

Man is polluting all water systems and the greatest concern is the pollution of our oceans (海洋). We are polluting the ocean in a number of ways. In fact, about 80 percent of ocean pollution has been caused by people on land. Besides the pollution from land, another 20 percent of pollution is from ocean-based activities.

First of all, large boats carrying oil cause much waste. In one recent year, our oceans had 1 serious oil spill and 7 medium-sized oil spills. Cruise ships are also big polluters. It has been found that an average-sized cruise ship produces around 1 million gallons of wastewater in one week.

What’s more, the waste from ships and land, is another major cause of ocean pollution. One type of the waste is a big problem: studies have shown that 80 percent of ocean waste is plastic (塑料). Plastic waste can easily make fish and other sea animals die, such as whales, seals, dolphins, and penguins.

Finally, other human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels (燃料), are also polluting our oceans. The CO2 produced not only pollutes the air but finally enters the ocean’s ecosystem. The world’s oceans have taken in 40 percent of the CO2 emissions produced by humans.

Changes clearly need to be made as soon as possible to help make the ocean pollution less and less.

① 2019 marks the first year of the global commercial use of 5G. China is running ahead in this field. In March, 2019, the Shanghai Hongqiao Train Station became world’s first “5G train station”. What’s more, with the technology, it takes only 20 seconds to download a long movie. China is hopeful that we can even experience driver-less cars in daily life soon.

② However, the great technology is still new to most of us. What are the advantages (优势) of 5G? Here are some ideas.

③ It is faster, for sure. It is expected to be at least 10 times faster than 4G. The first 5G modem (猫,调制解调器) of the IT company Qualcomm supports (支持) speeds of up to 5 Gigabytes (千兆字节) per second. Most of us have never experienced anything close to that speed. And we are only talking about the first generation of 5G modems. Future modems are likely to be even faster.

④ But 5G is not all about speed. Have you ever been to a large event where your data (数据) connection slowed down? That is because 4G networks can only support a certain number of devices (设备) per square (平方) meter. 5G networks can do much better. They can support up to a million devices per square kilometer.

⑤ Are you looking forward to that 5G world now? Get ready for the amazing future.

1. If we put the passage into 3 parts, which is the best?
A.①/②③/④⑤B.①/②③④/⑤C.①②/③/④⑤D.①②③/④/⑤

C.comparing (比较) 5G with 4GD.talking about our prediction
3. What can we infer (推断) from the passage?

B.5G will help us live and work better.
C.Driver-less cars will be much cheaper in the future.
D.5G networks can support up to a million devices per square kilometer.
4. After reading the passage, we can know the writer ________ 5G technology.
