文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文。主要介绍了三名宇航员在太空进行科学课,展示了他们的新“教室”——问天实验舱。

1 . “Welcome to our new ‘classroom’!” said Chen Dong, one of the three astronauts of the Shenzhou XIV mission.

They were giving a science class 400 kilometers above Earth on October 12. It was the third space class from the Tiangong Space Station, but the first one from the Wentian lab module (实验舱) since its launch in July. The former two classes were held in the Tianhe core module (核心舱).

What does the new “classroom” look like? Chen, together with Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe, showed us around. “The beds in the Tianhe module are placed horizontally (横着), while our beds are kept upright,” said Liu. That means astronauts in the Wentian lab module need to sleep standing up! But as Liu explained, people don’t feel any difference because there’s no gravity (重力) in space. Astronauts can even sleep on the ceiling or upside down!

The astronauts also showed their “space farm”, where lettuce, wheat, thale cress (拟南芥) and rice are grown. “Take a picture!” “Send the picture!” Through a voice-controlled camera, Chen already sent a picture of the thale cress to scientists on Earth. Then he used scissors to cut a sample (样本). “I’ll put it into a fridge at-80℃and later give it lo scientists on Earth,” said Chen. Scientists will study how the environment of space affects the growth of plants.

“Can you see the water drops coming from the leaves? This is called ‘guttation’ (植物吐水现象).” said Liu, holding the well-grown rice. In space, the water drops are much bigger than those on Earth. So people can clearly see the guttation.

“We hope in the near future, we can harvest the food grown on our own,” said Chen. “Maybe one day, we can harvest food on the other planets like the moon or even Mars!”

1. How do astronauts in the Wentian module sleep?
A.B.C.D.
2. How do scientists on Earth study the plants in the space station?
A.By growing the plants in space themselves.
B.By taking and collecting pictures themselves.
C.By studying the samples astronauts bring back.
D.By watching them through real-time (实时) video cameras.
3. What does the underlined word “it” in Para. 4 refer to?
A.A picture.B.A pack of rice.C.A piece of lettuce.D.A piece of thale cress.
4. What can we infer (推测) from the last paragraph?
A.Farmers can get crops on the moon soon.
B.“Guttation” can be seen from leaves of rice.
C.Scientists will try to grow food on the moon or even Mars.
D.Lettuce, wheat, thale cress will be grown on other planets, too.

文章大意:本文主要介绍了机器人现在可以帮助医生做手术,以及这种机器人的一些优缺点。

2 . Imagine a tiny robot crawling through your body, helping doctors with their work. It’s not from a science novel. Doctors are now using robots to do operations (手术). This is because robots can do some work that doctors can’t. The robots carry small cameras, which allow doctors to look inside patients’ bodies. The robots also have tiny scissors and other tools. “It’s like having little hands inside the patients,” said Dr. Wang from a hospital in Beijing.

Here’s how they work: The doctor makes a small cut in a patient. Then, the doctor puts the robot through the cut. Next, the doctor controls the robot to reach where it needs to go. Finally, with the help of the robot, the doctor looks inside the patient’s body and begins to work.

The robots have many advantages for doctors and patients. They help cut medical costs and make difficult operations quicker and easier. They allow doctors to operate with less damage (伤害) to patients’ bodies, too. This helps them to heal faster.

However, the robots aren’t perfect. They can be expensive. What’s more, they are just tools to help humans, and they must be used by skilled doctors. Even the best robots can’t do everything that humans can do.

Scientists are working to make robots smarter. Someday, robots may do even more than expected for humans.

文章大意:本文介绍了你不了解的乌鸦的事情。
6 . 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,在每小题句子空白处填入适当的词语,使其意思与短文内容一致(每空词数不限)。

Many people just regard crows (乌鸦) as a natural cleaner. But researchers have found more than that. Here is something about crows that you might not know.

Crows have strong family values. They are social, living in large families of more than ten birds. When you see a number of crows gathering, they’re usually family groups that are helping each other. Crows take care of their kids, just like people.

Communication is key to their survival (生存). Many calls are used, each carrying a different message. For example, they have separate warning calls for cats, birds and people. Loud “caws” are their common calls, but they also use other calls. Some crows even imitate (模仿) the sounds of other living things.

Marzluff, a scientist who studies wildlife science, did several experiments to decide whether wild crows remember human faces. In one researchers wearing masks (面具) caught seven crows and marked them. After setting the crows free, researchers found that ordinary passersby got no reaction, but as soon as anyone wearing the same mask passed by, they made loud warning calls even years later.

Catherine Shevcenko of Diva Crows, a wildlife protection organization, warns, “Never do bad things to a crow. They not only remember faces but teach their baby crows to be careful.”

They also remember those who were kind to them and pass that information along, too, often bringing gifts of rocks or other small objects as thanks . So you see they are so smart, family-loving and grateful that you may want to know them a lot.

1. We can know crows are social and look after their kids just like ________.
2. Crows can use different calls to ________ each other.
3. Marzluff found crows can remember ________.
4. The crows use some small gifts to show ________ to someone who is nice to them.
5. From the article we know that crows are so thankful, ________that we may want to know them a lot.

文章大意:本文介绍了人们都有遗忘的经历,但是不要认为自己的记忆力变差了,因为记忆力可以通过锻炼得到改善。文章就此介绍了一些提高记忆力的方法。

7 . Mark began to introduce the guest speaker to the listeners, but then stopped for a while. He had forgotten her name.

Barbara hid her valuable things when she went on vacation. When she came back, she couldn’t remember where she’d put them.

Perhaps you’ve had such experiences like these. Many people have. But they haven’t realized that they have a memory problem. Neither do they know a simple but important fact: Memory can be improved. If you just accept that, the following will show you how.

First, relax. If you are over worried about something, you’ll forget it. If you keep telling yourself that your memory is bad, your mind will come to believe it and you won’t remember things. When you forget something, don’t follow up with saying like “Oh, my god! I always forget things!” Such words will have a bad result on you and your memory.

But relaxing isn’t enough. To improve your memory, you’ll need to take an active role. Like your body, your memory can be made strong through exercise. Look for opportunities to exercise your memory. For example, if you’re learning a language, try to actively remember a lot of new words.

If you don’t notice things actively, you won’t remember them. So, you can make pictures of what you see in your mind every day. For example, don’t just put your keys down! If you want to find them again, make a mind picture of the place where you’re putting them.

1. The first two paragraphs just tell us ________.
A.language problems of two personsB.Barbara was a very rich person
C.examples of memory problemsD.Mark often forgot his friends’ names
2. The underlined word “opportunities” in the fifth paragraph means “________.”
A.placesB.doctorsC.chancesD.projects
3. According to the article, ________ can make your memory better.
A.doing sports every dayB.making mind pictures of what you see
C.realizing your memory problemsD.talking to your friends
4. The purpose of the article is to help you ________.
A.introduce the guestB.forget unhappy things
C.remember new wordsD.improve your memory

8 . You like rats? You must be kidding. Everyone hates rats. But rats may soon be man’s new good friend.

What happens after an earthquake? We send in rescue(营救,救援) dogs. Why? Because they can smell people. Dogs save lives. They help rescuers to find living people. But dogs are big and they can’t get into small spaces. So now a new research project is using a smaller animal to save lives: the rat.

How does it work? First, the rat is trained to smell people. When this happens, the rat’s brain gives a signal. This is sent to a small radio on its back, and then the rescuers follow the radio signals. When the rat’s brain activity jumps, the rescuers know that someone is alive. The rat has smelled that person.

Although there are already robots which can do this job, rats are better. “Robots’ noses don’t work well when there are other smells around. Rats are good at that Rats can also see in the dark, they are cheaper and quicker to train than dogs, and unlike robots, they don’t need electricity!”

The “rat project” is not finished, but a scientist says, “It would be great. A rat could get into spaces we couldn’t get to, and a rat would get out if it wasn’t safe.” Perhaps for the first time in history, people will be happy to see a rat in a building (but only after an earthquake, of course).

A.Ways of saving peopleB.Robots
