4 . People eat different things in different parts of the world.
In south China we eat rice every day. Sometimes we eat it two or three times a day, for breakfast, lunch and supper. We usually eat it with fish, meat and vegetables.
The Japanese eat rice, too. They also eat a lot of fish. They sometimes eat raw(生的)fish. In Africa, maize(玉米)is the most important food. People there make maize into flour(面粉). From this flour they make different kinds of bread and cakes.
In western(西方的)countries such as Britain, Australia and the U.S.A, the most important food is bread or potatoes. People there usually make their bread from wheat flour. They cook the potatoes in different ways. In England the most popular food is fish and chips. Sometimes people cook this food at home, but usually they buy it at the shop. They eat this food at home, in their work place, in the park or on the road. People call it "take-away" food.

10 . Note-taking is a skill(技能) that can help you do well in all your schoolwork. It can make you confident when you are studying. But unluckily, most students don't know how to take notes. Here is some advice:
*Write down key facts. If your teacher writes notes on the blackboard, that's great. You can copy(记下) them or write down the most important facts of all in class. Different teachers do things differently. For example, some teachers may focus on (关注) lots of dates and facts in class, but they only write the important ones on the blackboard. Other teachers may not write anything down, but they may say something important again and again.
*Ask. Don't be afraid to ask your teacher to repeat(重复) what you miss. If your teacher speaks too fast and you can’t follow what he/she is saying, you can ask him/her after class.
*Compare. Comparing your notes with your classmates' can be good for your learning. It can also help you and your classmates correct some mistakes.
*Organise(组织). Note-taking also needs organization. Keep notes for each subject in one notebook, so that you can find everything easily when a test comes.
*Good note-taking takes time. If you decide to recopy(重新抄写) your notes every evening, you'll surely have less time to watch TV. But you'll save time in the coming test.
