文章大意:本文主要介绍了熊猫巴士的功能和特点,它收到人们的广泛欢迎。
1 . 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。

The bus is a little different from other buses. It’s black and white, and has two black “cars” on the top, just like a giant panda(大熊猫). The lights of the bus are its “eyes”. This is the popular Panda Bus in China. There are 23 seats on the 12-meter long bus.

The Panda Bus is popular not just because of its cute look. You can also find something cool when you get on it. First of all, it’s very easy for people to buy tickets. They don’t need to use their phones or bus cards like before. All they need are their hands. They can buy tickets just by scanning(扫描)their hands. In this way, people can also buy drinks and food on the bus. There is a vending machine(自动贩卖机)in the middle of the bus. Another surprise is the small computer on the back of each seat. People can choose to watch a movie on the way. How interesting! There are also some cameras on the bus. If someone steals things, these cameras will catch them. So, it’s safe and comfortable for people to take the bus. Most importantly, the bus is driverless(无人驾驶的). It can stop at lights and park at the stop all by itself. It only needs someone to watch all the way just in case(以防万一). And it usually runs a little slower than other buses.

By the end of 2021, there had been over ten cities in China having the Panda Bus, such as Tianjin, Shanghai and Jinan. Would you like to take such a bus to go to school?

I love to go biking on the weekend! Two years ago, I bought an exercise bike(健身脚踏车). But soon I got bored with being at home, so I bought a used bike and started going for short rides. Now I plan day trips in my neighborhood. When you drive a car, you miss many things. It’s surprising how much more you can see when you’re biking.

—Maggie

My favorite thing to do on the weekend is to go to the beach. The beach is beautiful all through the year. I usually drive there. If the weather is cold, I wear some warm clothes and go for long walks on the beach. When the weather is hot, I enjoy swimming or just lying in the sun.

—Barbara

On the weekend I like to read books. If the weather is nice, I’ll take a good book to the park and stay there reading for hours. I think there’s nothing as enjoyable as reading a good book.

4 . 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。

Many parents think that it’s very difficult to get their children to do chores. But I think it’s easy to get children to do chores.

My daughter, Lucy is ten years old. At night, I write down her chores for the following day. Then I stick (贴) the paper with chores on her door. So she knows her chores by reading the paper on the door. Usually she gets three to eight chores a day. It depends on how she does chores. If she does all of her chores well, she can get fewer chores the next day. Some chores are easy, such as sweeping the floor, folding the clothes and cleaning the table after dinner.

For my other two children, the chores are different because they are very young. They both know how to put their empty (空的) dinner plates into the dish-washer (洗碗机). My 19 month-old son helps me put the dirty clothes in the washing machine (洗衣机) when I am washing the clothes. They can also help me when I’m working in the yard. They help me pick up the sticks (树枝) and throw them away.

The idea for the Olympic flame comes from a Greek story. To save humans from anger and cold, Prometheus stole a fire from the god Zeus and gave it to humans. After that, humans saw fires as a symbol of light and freedom. To thank the god, the Olympic flame appeared in ancient Olympic Games.

How do people light the flame?

People don’t use a match to light the torch. They use a special mirror and the sunlight. What if it is a cloudy or rainy day? People usually collected a fire a few days before the ceremony and keep it in a special container (容器). It is for the poor weather.

Can the fame go underwater?

In the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, the flame went underwater in the Great Barrier Reef. The torch burnt at 2,000℃. And the high temperature stopped water from putting out the flame.
