6 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Chris and Paul were good friends and on the same school basketball team, The Lions. They loved basketball very much and were both huge fans of the NBA. After school, when they weren’t playing on the court which was next to their building, they were watching a basketball game on TV. Chris’s favourite player was LeBron James. Paul’s favourite player was Tyrone Bogues, although they actually agreed that they were both champions.

Bogues was only 1.6 metres tall, which made him the shortest player ever in the NBA. Guess what? Paul was only 1.6 metres tall, too! Paul knew that being shorter than other players meant that he had to practise more. He did not miss a single practice and participated in every training. During all those hours of doing jump shots on his own, he used Bogues as his inspiration. Paul once said firmly, “If Bogues could make it, why not me?”

Their coach was not so sure. Paul had to try out many times just for making the team. He was still usually on the bench, being just a replacement, which was really tough on him. Everyone knew Paul had real skills, and was someone who worked really hard and had a strong desire to play for the team. Chris always comforted him and encouraged him, telling him not to give up. However, Paul didn’t get a chance.

This week, The Lions were playing against their main competitors, The Bears, a team whose record this season had been perfect. They hadn’t lost a single game. It would be a tough one.

Everyone of the Lions played to the best of their abilities. Suddenly, a player and Chris crashed into each other. Pain raced through Chirs’s body. His knee hurt badly. The team gathered around, looking worried. The last quarter was about to begin, and The Lions was behind by 10 points.

注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

“You can’t play anymore,” the doctor said, putting an ice pack on Chris’s knee.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了足球俱乐部最初的成立以及历史发展。

7 . Football clubs have existed since the 15th century, but unorganized and without official status. It is therefore hard to decide which the first football club was.

Early clubs were formed by former school students.    1    In the beginning, football was dominated by public school teams. Later, teams consisting of workers made up the majority.

Another change took place when some clubs became willing to pay the best players to join their team.     2    In the 1880s, the interest in the game moved ahead to a level that tickets were sold to the matches. And finally, in 1885 professional football was legalized. Three years later, the Football League was established.

3    Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup) became the first important competition in 1871. The following year a match between England and Scotland was played for the first time. That was followed by 4,000 people at Hamilton Crescent.

Football was for a long time a British phenomenon.    4    The first game outside Europe occurred in Argentina in 1867. But it was foreign British workers who were involved and not its domestic citizens.

Then the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) was founded. England and the other British countries did not join FIFA from the start. They had invented the game and saw no reason to obey an association.    5

In 1908, football was included as an official sport in the Olympic Games. Until the first FIFA World Cup was played in 1930, the Olympic Games football tournament ranked as the greatest on a national level.

A.Other milestones were now to follow.
B.Still, they joined in the following year.
C.Thus, football was played all over the world.
D.But it gradually spread to other European countries.
E.Until now, FIFA still plays a major role in the world.
F.And the first of this kind was formed in Sheffield in 1855.
G.The motivation behind this was not only to win more matches.

9 . Discover the Huge Health Benefits of Strength Training

One of the best ways to stay fit and healthy as you age is to do strength and power training exercises. It is known that when you are in your thirties, you will begin to lose muscle mass. This loss actually contributes to achy joints, the increased risk of injury, and the “middle-age spread” we all fear. What’s more, the older you get, the faster muscle mass loses. It means that eventually, simple tasks like getting out of a chair and climbing stairs can become more difficult.

Strength training can help you build muscles, make you strong, increase your staying power and make everyday activities easier. By combining strength and power training exercises, you’ll not only get stronger, but also improve your reaction speed. As you grow older, that’s critical because it can help prevent falls.
