1 . Answering the Community Needs of Our City
The Siver City Council recognizes that citizens have certain needs. To better meet your needs, we have made several changes to community facilities in 2020. The followings shows how we have tried to make your life better.
Transport
☆Three stations for the suburbs have been added to the western train service.
☆20 new buses for the southern line were purchased in January.
☆50 per cent of city bus-stops have been upgraded.
Communication
☆Broadband cableis now available to ll parts of the city.
☆All of the new Government buildings are smart-wired for better computer service!
Medical Facilities
☆The new state-of-the-art Nightingale Hospital was opened in June.
☆To overcome a shortage of trained medical staff at Dover Hospital, 10 doctors have been employed from overseas.
☆Some facilities at Station Street Hospital have been upgraded.
Education
☆Textbooks will be free to all primary students in 2020!
☆Rental for private schools has been reduced.
Protection and Security
☆Extra police now patrol(巡逻)the tourist areas.
☆50 new police officers graduated in July and have taken up duties in the city area.
Entertainment/Recreation
☆The new Central Community Building opened in May.
☆5,000 new fiction books were bought for the Silver City Library.

2 . Chinese New Year is a celebration marking the end of the winter season and the beginning of spring. This is decorating with plants, fruits and blooming flowers carries special significance. They represent the earth coming back to life and wishes for new beginnings. Here are some of the most popular and their special meanings.
Oranges
Orange trees are more than decoration, they are a symbol of good fortune and wealth. They make great gifts and you see them many lines decorated with red envelopes and messages of good fortune. The fruits are also some of the “lucky” foods, which are a must during the celebrations.
Bamboo
Chinese love their “Lucky Bamboo” plants and you will see them often in their homes and offices Certainly during the holiday period, this plant is a must. Bamboo plants and stems are used frequently in fengshui and are associated with health, abundance and a happy home. They are easy to care for and make great presents.
Brunches of Plum Blossoms
The beautiful tong branches covered with pink-colored buds make fantastic decorations. The plum trees are the first to flower even as snow is melting after a cold winter. They represent the promise of spring and a renewal of life.
Peonies
Peonies represent prosperity and peace and are considered as China's national flower, they are often a subject of classical paintings. The peony is also known a, the “king of flowers” and represents royalty, virtue and honor name in Chinese is literally translated as “most beautiful”.
Narcissus
Narcissus flower right around Chinese New Year and are considered as a symbol of luck and wealth. Their sweet fragrance is also highly respected in Chinese culture.

Busuu

Duolingo is one of the best English language apps today and highly recommended for English beginners. The system of the app helps you learn English quickly by spending twenty minutes a day. 5 . London is a real treat for museum lovers and museums are a popular destination among London's many attractions. Below is a list of London's top museums.
London Transport Museum
Travel through the museum, which hosts exhibitions (展品展示)about transport with the social and cultural history of London. Inside, you'll find more than 80 vehicles covering 200 years of London's history, including a red Routemaster bus and the world's first underground steam train. There are great posters and artworks too!

British Museum

Price: Free. A donation of £5 is recommended. Entrance fee for special exhibitions and some events.
Opening time: 10:00 - 17:30 daily. Open late on Fridays until 20:00.
Natural History Museum
As well as the dinosaur exhibition, the Natural History Museum keeps a collection of the biggest, tallest and rarest animals in the world. See a life-sized blue whale and a 40-million-year-old spider.
Price: Free. Entrance fee for some of the special exhibitions and events.
Opening time: 10:00 - 17:50 daily. Open late on the last Friday of each month. Closed 24 - 26 December.
The Design Museum
The Design Museum is the world's leading museum devoted to contemporary design in every form. Check out the regular exhibitions showcasing the rich creativity found in all forms of design, and its importance to our world.

9 . Kids Nature and Survival Camp
Set free your kids’ imagination and spirit of adventure at this camp, as they learn about the natural environment and the important skills of survival.

* The camp will run for 5 hours each day: 9 am-2 pm.
* This class is 100% hands-on and very active. Everything your kids learn, they will do—no indoor classrooms or long lectures.
* Each day will center around one of the 4 main necessities of survival: SHELTER(day 1). WATER(day 2), FIRE(day 3), and FOOD(day 4).

10 . Non-Credit Courses
The Pre-College Program offers non-credit courses. Students will experience college-level courses given by some of our college’s leading experts and will receive written feedback (反馈) on their work at the end of the course. Pre-College students will also receive a grade of Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory and a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the program.
All non-credit courses meet from 9:00 a. m.-11:30 a. m. daily and may have additional requirements in the afternoons or evenings.
