文章大意:本文是一篇应用文,主要介绍的是One Day University这个活动。

1 . One Day University

One Day University was founded by Steven Schragis in 2006. He came up with the idea after he dropped his daughter off at college in upstate New York. The school had about a dozen professors giving short talks about a variety of subjects. All the parents had the same reaction: “I wish I were the one going to college!”

One Day University creates fascinating days of learning designed to inspire your mind. We work with over two hundred professors from the country’s top colleges to create events. No matter what you love, you’ll find that every One Day U event is filled with exploratory talks that will challenge you as if you were a student in college once again! And just like your college days, you’re sure to meet new friends who share the belief that learning is a rewarding lifelong process. At One Day U, there’s no homework and no grades. Just learning for the sake of learning!

文章大意:本文是一篇应用文,主要介绍了四个百老汇较为出名的喜剧。

2 . Theater is a big part of what makes New York shine. This city is full of talent that even the youngest can appreciate, and at the best Broadway shows, everyone in your crew will be interested.

The Lion King (Ages 8 and up.)

There’s a reason Simba’s story continues to draw in crowds year after year: It’s an amazing production with amazing sets and a moving score. Seeing The Lion King live is something like a ceremony for New York kids. Unconvinced? Ask the 100 million+ audience members worldwide who’ve seen the performance.

Six (Ages 10 and up.)

On a concert stage, backed by an all-female band, the six wives of Tudor Dynasty Henry Ⅷ air their complaints in the form of modern pop. The queens sing their heads off, and the audience loses its mind. Some of the stories are pretty dark, but the girl-power dance moves will make older kids excited.

Wicked (Ages 8 and up.)

Based on novelist Gregory Maguire’s 1995 adult variation on L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Wicked shows what happened before the events in the children’s book. The musical addresses complex themes, such as standards of beauty and morality. While children five and up are permitted in the theater, little ones might be afraid of the flying monkeys.

Come from Away (Ages 10 and up.)

One of the more unlikely musicals on Broadway is an excellent choice for the family: Come from Away is the tense but humane story of an airport in Gander, Newfoundland, where 38 planes and more than 6,000 passengers were forced to land on September 11, 2001. It raises big topics, but in such a way that invites thoughtful discussion.

1. Which musical combines royal history with modern art form?
A.The Lion King.B.Wicked.C.Six.D.Come from Away.
2. What can you learn about Come from Away?
A.It features female dancers and singers.B.It leaves much room for deep thinking.
C.It includes standards of beauty and morality.D.It stresses harmony between human and nature.
3. Who is the text intended for?

How we find deals

In today’s world, it’s hard to know what a real deal is. That’s why we regularly surf the Internet to provide you with the biggest discounts we see in our research and let you know when some of your favorite brands are having their yearly sales. We monitor shopping trends to bring you the best offerings.

Our testing process

Before we test any product, our team of writers and editors carefully researches the marketplace, and then interviews experts, including certified trainers and physical therapists, to get guidance on what to look for and how to evaluate it. Next, we come up with a selection of products for each test. These products cover a range of retailers(零售商), prices, user reviews, brand authorities, and more. In addition to the objective testing results, we also weigh qualitative insights.

Why trust Verywell Fit

The product recommendations from Verywell Fit are purely editorial. We occasionally receive products to test and review for free, but we buy the majority of the products we test. And while we receive affiliate commissions(佣金)on some of the products we recommend, we make it a rule that we never let retailers affect our content and product coverage.

Before we test products, we read the latest studies on product safety and interview experts for best practices. Last but not least, our writers and editors are also experts in their own right.
