1 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

“She needs me.” Those were the exact words I spoke to my husband when I spotted Dottie, a little dog we found at a local shelter eight years ago.

Dottie leaned (倾斜) away when I tried to pet her and refused to let me hold her. While the other dogs jumped and barked, Dottie returned to the back of the cage, curled up in a ball, hoping us to leave her alone.

On the entire drive home, Dottie was in fear. So, upon arrival at our house, we got right to work. I held her as much as possible, touching her head and softly singing in her ear. We learned that she loved belly touch, so every time we passed by, we would offer a gentle touch. Eventually, we noticed her presenting her belly as we walked by her. I knew we were making real progress when I found her quietly sleeping on a chair one day, her head resting on one of my shoes. My heart melted (融化) as I realized she had brought it there because it contained my smell, and she wanted it nearby.

Ever so slowly, our little dog came to life. She began to play with toys, enjoy walks, and rest on our laps. There was no special treatment, no fancy food or toys. All we did was love her. And she grew well. She was so broken when we first met her that we had no idea what her true personality would be. But now we found a sweet, playful, loving soul.

One day, a few years after her adoption, I was busy doing housework around the house, doing laundry and climbing the stairs from the basement up to the main floor. When I finished, I sat down and enjoyed a well-deserved break. That’s when I realized I hadn’t seen Dottie for a while. I called to her and began searching. My heart raced and my pace quickened as I began checking under beds and behind sofa.

文章大意:这是一篇新闻报道。文章主要介绍Szczecin城的网络红人——一只名叫Gacek的肥猫。

3 . Szczecin, an ancient city in northwestern Poland, has plenty to offer to visitors. Without doubt, the Pomeranian Duke’s Castle and Kasprowicza Park are two of its most popular tourist attractions, but when it comes to online reviews, both pale in comparison to a fat cat named Gacek.

Gacek, whose name means “long-eared bat” in Polish, has nearly 2,600 reviews, more than any other attraction in Szczecin. According to a local woman, Gacek first appeared on Kaszubska Street in downtown Szczecin about 10 years ago. He stuck around and people started feeding him, so from a skinny feline (猫科动物), he soon turned into a thick-fleshed boy, which only made him more adorable. The cat rose to fame in 2020, after a local news site featured it in a video that then went viral on social media, and people have been showering him with positive reviews ever since.

Also known as the “King of Kaszubska Street”, Gacek, the city’s online influencer, now lives in a roofed wooden box outside a shop on Kaszubska Street, and even though he doesn’t technically have an owner, the people who run the shop act as his caretakers. There is a sign outside his house that tells passers-by to leave whatever treats they have for the cat in a sealed (密封的) container and not to pet him when he’s sleeping. Most people who posted a review awarded the feline the maximum 5 stars, making him the top-rated tourist attraction in the city. Most of those who have interacted with Gacek claim that he is a “fantastically handsome and superb fellow”.

But Gacek does have a few one-star reviews, mostly from people who criticize his caretaker or express worry about his weight. Some even complained that he scratched (抓伤) their hands or stole a sausage. “Gacek seems to have become their envy now,” a citizen jokingly commented.

1. Why are the two tourist attractions mentioned?
A.To illustrate the city’s history.
B.To present an online influencer.
C.To display comments on the city.
D.To show their rising popularity.
2. What contributed to Gacek’s sudden fame?
A.His Polish name.B.His past experiences.
C.A featured video.D.A local woman’s care.
3. What can be inferred about Gacek from the text?
A.Szczecin citizens are considerate to it.
B.He now lives in a well-furnished room.
C.Many people are envious of his fame.
D.Tourists are not allowed to disturb him.
4. Which word best describes the author’s attitude to Gacek?
A.Sympathetic.B.Worried.C.Objective.D.Favorable.

One day, Daddy Bear suggested having a really wild camping. “What is a really wild camping? Is it an adventure?” wondered Dudu. “Yes! Everything in the city is too comfortable; we need to go to wild to have an experience!” replied Daddy Bear.

“Can I play with my toy cars there? And can I watch cartoon there?” Dudu was a little worried. “There are more interesting things there! We can bathe in the clear pool, taste delicious wild fruits, fish by the clear lake and fall asleep in the quiet night.” Daddy described it in excitement. “It’s wonderful!” Dudu was deeply attracted to the description. “But maybe it’s dangerous!” Mama Bear worried. “Mummy always worries so much! I want to be an explorer this time!” Dudu thought.

Dudu and his families started off. First, they needed to cross a single-log (独木的) bridge. This single-log bridge was the only way to the forest. Seeing the rushed water under the single-log bridge, Dudu had a little regret to come here with Daddy Bear. “Don’t be afraid!” encouraged Daddy Bear. “Just go ahead, don’t look at the river!”

Dudu tried to toe (用脚尖走) on the bridge, and the bridge started to shake. Dudu was so scared (害怕的) that he kept his body unmoved. “The bridge frightens you on purpose! Just go ahead, the bridge won’t shake!” Daddy said behind Dudu. Dudu continued to go ahead. “Ha-ha! It’s true! The bridge really doesn’t shake anymore!” Dudu cried happily, going faster.

A spider (蜘蛛) was looking for a suitable place to make its web. He wanted his web to be in such a place where a lot of insects and flies would come and get trapped in his web. In this way he wanted to spend his life eating, drinking and relaxing happily.

Soon, he found a corner (角落) of the room of a house and started preparing to make his web there.

Just when he started weaving (织网) the web, a cat passing by started laughed loudly after seeing him. When the spider saw the cat laughing, he asked, “Why are you laughing?”

The cat replied, “I am laughing because you are foolish. Can’t you see how clean this place is? No flies or insects will come here. Who will fall in your web?”

After listening to the cat, the spider gave up the idea of making a web in that corner and started looking for another place.

Then he saw a window and started weaving his web there. The spider had prepared half of the web. Then a bird came and started making fun of him, saying, “Have you lost your mind? Why weaving your web near this window? A strong wind will blow and your web will fly away.”

Once there lived a kind man named Alvin in a small village with his wife. They had a little son. One day, as Alvin was returning home from a nearby village, he came across a baby mongoose (猫鼬) crying next to his mother’s dead body.

“Oh, what a poor creature!” thought Alvin. “If I leave him here, he will surely die.” He picked him up and took him home.

“Gowri, I found this little creature on my way home. Let us take care of him,” Alvin said to his wife. “Very well along with our son, I will take care of the mongoose too,” replied Gowri.

The mongoose grew up with a lot of love and care in their house. He slept next to their son in the cradle (摇篮), drank milk and played with the boy every day. The little mongoose’s days were full of joy. As both the boy and mongoose grew up, their friendship changed to a relationship between two brothers.

The mongoose grew up fast and as days went by, Gowri began to get doubts in her mind. “After all, this is a wild animal. Sooner or later, he will show his true colors,” she thought to herself. She put the mongoose’s bed separately and would watch him carefully whenever he played with her son.

One day when Alvin was away, Gowri decided to go to the river to fetch a pot of water. She looked around and saw her son sleeping soundly in his cradle. The mongoose was also asleep on the floor at the foot of the cradle. “It should take only a few minutes. I hope I can trust that mongoose not to harm my little son,” she said to herself and hurried to the river.

Suddenly, the mongoose woke up with a start. He had heard a very low noise. Looking up, the mongoose saw a large black snake crawling (爬行) in through a hole in the wall.

“The snake will harm my brother. Mother and Father are away. I will have to protect my little brother,” thought the mongoose, as the snake came crawling towards the cradle.
