When it come to the ocean, we are worried that its pollution is becoming more and more seriously. World Ocean Day, fallen on June 8th, is aimed at raising people’s awareness of ocean conservation. The ocean plays an important part in the world. It offers us sufficient food but maintains the balance of the nature. Therefore, it is time of us to devote ourselves to protecting the ocean. First of all, we should stop their own bad behavior, throwing rubbish into the ocean, for example. What’s more, we can hand out various brochure to call on more people protect the ocean. The more people are involved, the good the ocean environment is.

6 . The brain is an important organ of the human body. So what can we do to to keep our brains healthy both physically and functionally?
·Turn ordinary activities into brain-stimulating ones
·Go out as much as possible
Going outside to take exercise every day, like running slowly, even for a short period of time, can build up the body, increase heart rate and improve mood. A little sunshine outside is great for vitamin D production.
·Think about returning to a previous hobby
The best activities for brain health are the ones that challenge your brain to be quick and accurate. Do you have a musical instrument sitting in the closet?
You can adopt a brain exercise program at home to keep your brain fit. The exercise is based on the principles of brain plasticity, the way the brain reorganizes through learning and exercising.
·Eat a healthy diet and be sure to get adequate sleep
As we know, food provides nutrition for the brain.
A.Now it is time to pull it out |
B.Do some brain training indoors |
C.Adopt a training program at a gym |
D.A jog also helps strengthen the brain |
E.Some people are trying learning some new instruments |
F.You can stimulate your brain by taking a different route each time |
G.So eating high-quality food like vegetables and fruit will keep it healthy |
7 . A research team led by Professors Ki-Hun Jeong and Doheon Lee from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) Department of Bio and Brain Engineering reported the development of a technique for facial expression detection by mixing light-field camera techniques with artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Unlike a conventional camera, the light-field camera contains sets of micro-lens (微透镜) in front of the image sensor, which makes the camera small enough to fit into a smart phone while allowing it to acquire the spatial and directional information of the light with a single shot. The technique has received attention as it can reconstruct images in a variety of ways including multi-views, refocusing and 3D image acquisition, giving rise to many potential applications.
However, the optical (光学的) crosstalk between shadows caused by external light sources in the environment and the micro-lens has limited existing light-field cameras from being able to provide accurate image contrast and 3D reconstruction.
The research team applied a laser in the near-infrared (NIR) range to stabilize the accuracy of 3D image reconstruction that previously depended on environmental light. When an external light source is shone on a face at 0-30, and 60-degree angles, the light-field camera reduces 54% of the image reconstruction errors. Additionally, by inserting a light-absorbing layer for visible and NIR wavelengths between the sets of micro-lens, the team could minimize optical crosstalk while increasing the image contrast by 2.1 times.
Through this technique, the team could overcome the limitations of existing light-field cameras and develop a more advanced NIR-based light-field camera (NIR-LFC) improved for the 3D image reconstruction of facial expressions. Using the NIR-LFC, the team acquired high-quality 3D reconstruction images of facial expressions expressing various emotions regardless of the lighting conditions of the surrounding environment.
The facial expressions in the acquired 3D images were distinguished through machine learning with an average of 85% accuracy-a statistically significant figure compared to when 2D images were used. Furthermore, by calculating the inter-dependency of distance information that varies with facial expression in 3D images, the team could identify the information alight-field camera uses to distinguish human expressions.

8 . Dogs are born to socialise with people because we raise them that way. Two-month-old dogs can already recognise when people are pointing at objects and will stare at our faces when they’re spoken to—both signs that dogs have an innate capacity to interact with us through body language.
“Although individual relationships with people might influence that behaviour, at least 40percent of this ability comes from genetics alone, “says Emily Bray at the University of Arizona. “Over the course of keeping dogs, there has been a clear selection for these social skills,” she says. “It’s something that’s deep in them and that comes out at a really young age even before they have much experience with humans.”
Bray and her colleagues tested these types of skills in 375 eight-week-old dogs that were chosen to become service dogs. Bray says, “It was the earliest age when the dogs could carryout such experiments because they were only just old enough to be motivated by food rewards.”
The researchers found that pointing at food hidden under a cup helped the dogs to find it nearly 70 percent of the time. The success rate was high from the start, meaning they weren’t learning to follow pointing, but had already known to do so. In a control test, the randomly selected dogs couldn’t find food hidden under one of the two cups at a higher rate, indicating that they weren’t simply smelling it. Much of the variation in different dogs’ abilities to follow finger-pointing is explained by genetics. Using statistical analyses based on the dogs’ parents and other relatives, the researchers found that genetic factors were responsible for much of these variations.
The team also ran another experiment in which the researchers spoke “baby talk” to the dogs and found that the dogs fixed their eyes on the person for more than 6 seconds on aver-age, representing an understanding that the researchers were communicating with them.

9 . It is a simple warehouse with no heat, and Flora Smith, a stylish girl in the United States, is buried herself in a bin full of apples. This isn’t exactly how I pictured meeting the famous girl, who grew up in the spotlight. But it is completely true. Dressed in skinny jeans,a soft cotton T-shirt and a simple coat for a day of hard work and heavy lifting, Flora shows no signs of being a fashion girl here. She’s too busy focusing her famously intelligent mind on the more significant goal of actually improving the world she lives in. And there’s no better way than to jump in and do it herself.
“Volunteer service is equally an opportunity for young women to really give themselves power, particularly when there are so many ways women are told they can’t do things,“ she tells me. After she and her team have bagged up more than 16,000 pounds of apples for local food rescue organizations, we sit down to chat. She adds, “If I can make as much difference as a man can, if I can even pack more apples than the man standing next to me, why shouldn’t I be able to do whatever I want to do? Volunteer service is a great way to prove not only what you can do for the world, but also what the world can expect from you. ”
In her mind, she is someone who is still trying to figure out if she can make a difference in the areas she really cares about. Flora jumps up to join a group photo of volunteers, kneeling on the concrete floor so the staff can squeeze into the shot.
Surrounded by people who would like to follow her to a freezing warehouse in New York City to make a positive impact, she seems to be exactly that person-a charming political lead-er with big dreams, like her father. After all, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
