“I won’t be able to get to all of them and that’s the hardest thing for me,” Julia said. Even though she can’t help all of the owners, she is an angel for giving this ________ gift to so many heartbroken pet parents. Above all, she uses her talent to________love and comfort.

2 . Kate Chandulal-Dee’s unique and infectious smile can brighten anyone’s day. It’s a(n)_______ she’s always had, which has helped Kate bravely face many challenges in life.

Kate was born with the rare genetic disorder (遗传性疾病), which has resulted in her having 138 _______ to date.

Kate’s many operations have _______ serious and life-threatening procedures. One important procedure when she was 14 was the _______ of a tube from her throat that helped her to breathe. After it was gone, Kate could _______ eat food. “It was like my mouth was waking up for the very first time,” she recalls.

Kate’s story was known to the public in 2010, when she was just seven years old and _______ school. Now 20, Kate is all grown up and has just finished the last of her _______ at Edgewater College in Auckland. She plans to _______ with a degree in the creative arts and media.

As a child, the thought of attending school _______ her will to live. “School has been ________ to keep me going and to help me with my self-confidence,” she tells. “Through school, I found my abilities and talents, like writing and drama (戏剧). I’ve also learned how to be ________ and interested.”

Last year, she challenged herself and ________ drama. She was cast as a nurse in a school production of Romeo and Juliet. Kate has also written four books and recently ________, and edited a documentary called Still Smiling, about the challenges that she has ________ in life.

3 . Cohen Earley had one wish after he lost part of his leg because of cancer. He was ________ to play football—and now after months of ________ he has finally achieved that dream.

Ms Earley was taking him up to bed one evening when she noticed a lump (肿块) in his lower ________, the size of a golf ball, which was shocking. She took him to the doctors ________ and was advised to take more ________.

Tests were carried out at the hospital and the doctors broke the ________ news to the family that Cohen had cancer. Ms Earley said, “We had never ________ it would be anything as serious as cancer. He was only four.”

Cohen had an operation to ________ a quarter of his lower leg in November that year. ________ chemotherapy treatment (化疗) from June until December, Cohen also underwent a month of radiotherapy treatment (放疗). He had painful mouths in this ________. It was a long and hard ________. The only thing to keep him going was to play football again, which gave him a(n) ________ to work for.

Cohen had ________ it all and finally ________ the end-of treatment bell in January this year and doctors have now given him the all-clear. ________, the cancer is dangerous and there is a chance of it ________, so Cohen has to have ________ every three months.

The nation’s top comedians are superstars who_______ live shows all over the country in front of thousands of fans. So why are humour and comedy particularly important in Britain? It’s well known that laughter is _______for you. When you laugh, your body       _______ hormones(荷尔蒙) make you feel happier and healthier. Sunshine has a _______ effect, so maybe the British _______laughter because the weather is so bad.

________ film actors and musicians, Britain’s comedians and TV comedy shows generally aren’t very popular in other countries. Of course, every ________ has its own sense of humour, but the British sense of humour seems to be particularly difficult to ________ if you aren’ t British. The British often use sarcasm(讽刺), for example, they might say “Well done!” when someone makes a ________. British comedy characters are often very unkind and rude to each other and British people ________ to make fun of themselves, too. He encouraged me to write—write about anything, but just to do it! “That is the________ with today's society,” he explained. “We don't like to read things, ________ they're for pleasure. When I think about why I write, I am always attracted to the_________ ideas that George talked about. I tell myself I write because I want to help others________ new ideas, new perspectives, new and challenging experiences.

George's passion for people and words inspired me to be more aware, present, and honest about my words.
