2 . How to Understand the Mind of an Interviewer

Getting inside an interviewer’s head can be tricky, as their perspective will change according to personality type, professional role, and personal experience.     1

Research the company to determine what the interviewer is looking for. Company culture (work-life balance, atmosphere, etc.) is a great indicator of what your interviewer will want to see in candidates.     2     You can look for company mission statements for a better understanding of company culture, or quotes from top-level executives (领导层), like CEOs, which often set the tone for company culture.

Look up the interviewer when possible.     3     This is the perfect chance to look up background information on the interviewer on the company’s website. Professional and social media platforms can also help you better know what to expect from an interviewer.

4     Many interviewers determine the truthfulness of your resume (简历) this way. If you respond with answers that are inconsistent with what you wrote in your resume, many interviewers will interpret it as a red flag. Thus, remember to review the start and end dates of positions listed on your resume and try not to be annoyed at this kind of fact checking.

Identify how the interviewer’s position will influence expectations. The role of your interviewer usually has an impact on what that person expects from a candidate. An HR representative, for example, will want to know you’re a good fit with the company culture and values. A direct manager, however, would be most interested in your practical ability to do the job.

Regardless of their roles, most interviewers will want to know you’ll make their lives easier.     5

A.Be consistent with what you wrote in your resume.
B.Expect the interviewer to question you on your resume.
C.Therefore, it’s not an easy job to understand their mind.
D.So try to make a point of addressing this during the interview.
E.Usually, you’ll be informed of your interviewer’s name before you meet them.
F.However, you can research on the interviewer and tailor your answers to stand out.
G.In most situations, interviewers will expect you to share similar values with the company.

5 . Wash your hands. Eat your vegetables. Always say "please" and "thank" you,     1     However, when it comes to money, we often have little to say. As a result, our children may grow up with clean hands and good manners, but without any idea how to manage their money.     2

Show them the future. If your 13-year-old girl were to save $1.000, invest(投资)it at 8% and add $100 every month, by the time she's 65, she would have $980,983!

Be careful of credit. Credit cards can help you buy necessary things and build a credit history.     3     Explain to your children that when you buy something using a credit card, you can easily end up paying two or three times what you would have paid if you used cash.

4     Suppose your child wants a new bicycle that costs $150. Rather than paying the cash immediately, give him some regular pocket money and explain that by putting aside, say, $15 each week, he will be able to buy it for himself in only ten weeks.

Provide encouragement.     5     "For every dollar he or she agrees to save and invest rather than spend, you agree to add another dollar to the pot," says Cathy Pareto, expert in money planning.

A.Teach patience.
B.Give your child pocket money.
C.We are full of advice for our children.
D.Tell your children the importance of saving.
E.Children should be encouraged to save money by working.
F.Here are some basics that will help guide them their entire lives.
G.Yet they must be used responsibly, which means paying off your debt in time.

8 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

“Here you go. Up, up and away,” Chrissy yelled, as she pushed her little brother, Russell, on the swing(秋千). Russell smiled and kicked his feet. “Higher! Higher!” he shouted. “Okay, hang on. Here you go!” Chrissy stood forward and gave the swing an extra hard push. “Help!” Suddenly, Russell screamed.

The swing flew so high that it seemed that it might go flying off into the sky. Russell started to cry just as their mom came running over. “I’m sorry, Russell,” Chrissy said. “I didn’t mean to scare you. I guess I pushed a little too hard.” Their mom was angry with Chrissy and shouted, “Was it a little too hard? That was way too hard, Chrissy! How could you be so irresponsible?” Hearing the word “irresponsible”, Chrissy cried with tears filling her brown eyes.

A week before, her teacher had told her that she was irresponsible for being late for class. And a few days before her dad had used the word “irresponsible” when he blamed her for not hanging up her clothes. “I’m sorry, Mom,” Chrissy said sadly. She turned away and started to walk slowly down the path that wound through the park. That unpleasant word “irresponsible” kept going through Chrissy’s head.

Suddenly, Chrissy saw a little girl walking across the grass, heading up a small hill. Chrissy looked around for the parent, but there was no one else in sight. Chrissy knew there was a running stream on the other side of that hill. “It’s dangerous,” Chrissy thought. She ran as fast as she could towards the little girl. When she reached the girl, she stepped in front her, stopping her from running towards the water.

Chrissy picked up the little girl and carried her towards the playground, looking anxiously for her mother. “Where’s your mommy?” she asked the little girl, although she thought the girl was probably too young to talk. She was surprised when the little girl pointed to a distant house on the other side of the fence.

There’s a good reason why macadamia nuts(夏威夷果)are so popular. These yummy nuts     1     (know) for their rich, buttery flavor that makes them great for dessert. However, these    2     (taste) treats are also hard to come by. At $25 per pound, the macadamia nut is also the     3     (expensive) nut in the world.

So why are macadamia nuts so expensive in the first place? It has a lot to do     4     the nuts’ slow harvesting process and costly import prices.

It takes a long time for macadamia trees     5     (bear) fruit. The nuts are covered in a thick shell that protects them but also makes it difficult to tell     6     the fruit is ripe. This means the nuts have to be harvested by hand,     7     (make) the process more work-intensive and costly. The nuts are harvested only five to six times a year.

For now, macadamia nuts are harvested in Australia, Hawaii, South Africa and Latin America. However, they could soon be readily available in countries     8     import them the most. China is reportedly planting macadamia trees so they can grow their own harvests. Reports claim that     9     country could produce half of the global macadamia crop by 2022. Once this     10     (happen), macadamia nuts might no longer be the most costly nuts in the world.
