Revising is an important part of study. It helps you learn, remember, and apply what you know. It is also a good idea to revise before quizzes and exams. This will help keep materials fresh in your mind.    1    

Find Your Place

To revise for an exam, you must first find a quiet and relaxing environment.     2       It should be in a place where you will not be disturbed.

Take Your Time

It’s a good idea to make revising part of your weekly routine(常规).     3     You should take care to make sure that you study for no more than two hours at a time, and that you take regular breaks every half an hour or so. This will keep you fresh and able to take in information.

Stay Organized

It can be very helpful to set up a system so you will be organized.     4     That way when you have a quiz or exam, you can easily find the right notes to study to help you prepare.

At the end of every revision, review your notes carefully so that you can be sure that you have understood what you have learned. You may also consider writing out revision cards. You can then use these as a summary(概要)of the subjects that you have studied.

8 . How to Do Well in Science Class

Doing well in science depends on developing useful study skills and learning to participate (参与) in class.    1     If you've got good study skills that you've developed in other courses, you'll be able to use many of these to do well in science.

Read the required material. When your teacher requires reading from a textbook or a website, take time to read it before you come to class. If you don't have time to read it well, it's a good idea to look quickly at it so that you have an idea of what it's about.    2    

Take clear and organized notes. The notes you take in class will help you know what to study between classes.    3     Instead, pay careful attention to any information your teacher stresses, which is likely to be included on tests.

    4     Many science classes include laboratory experiments, which are practice of techniques you've learned about in your textbook or lectures. Your teacher will expect you to show up ready to start your experiment. Read the instructions for the laboratory in advance of class.

Reread your notes after class. If there's anything in your notes that confuses you, or which you feel might be wrong, check with your teacher or a classmate to ensure you have the right information.    5     This tests your understanding of the material in a way that ensures you've really grasped (理解) the meaning.
