文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。主要讲述了旅游为当地经济带来了资金,为当地人创造了很多就业机会,但它也可能带来一些问题,本文就如何做一名好的游客提出了一些建议。

1 . BE A GOOD TOURIST

Tourism can be both good and bad.     1

One growing problem is tourists who want to prove that they have visited a destination. Tourists have used paint, rocks, or even keys to write on the Luxor temple in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, Stonehenge in the UK, memorial stones at the bottom of Qomolangma, and many, many other places.     2     I have three words for people like this: please stop it. If you want to leave a mark on the world, do it by changing someone’s life with kindness and love. Pass kindness along to future generations, not destruction (破坏)。

3     Some tourists wander around and take pictures of local people without asking for their permission. For example, Chiang Mai University in Thai l and Yonsei University in South Korea have great numbers of tourists visiting their campuses and walking through their libraries and other public areas, taking pictures of students, and disturbing their studies. Another example is Sanlitun, a neighbourhood in Beijing, China. Some tourists love to party there late into the night, making it difficult for locals to sleep.     4     Have fun in a way that does not disturb others.

The number of problems from tourists is endless: walking in large groups without considering others who need to walk by, crossing roads without thinking of local traffic laws, and many more. The only way to solve the problem of the terrible tourist is to make sure that you are not one!     5     Remember, whenever you step outside your country’s borders, you are representing(代表) your country to the rest of the world.

A.Be smart, curious and creative tourist.
B.Be the best, kindest, and most considerate tourist possible.
C.Here are examples of traveling without permission
D.Thousands of tourist sites are being destroyed by tourists who love them to death.
E.I have some words for tourists like this: please be considerate towards the local people.
F.Another big problem in some places has been tourists disturbing the local people and life.
G.Yes, it brings in money for the local economy and creates lots of jobs for locals, but it may also bring some problems.

The number marks a 4.1 percent rise from the last count in 2020, said the authority, adding that a count was not conducted in 2021 in the county, home to around 10 million residents, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。主要介绍了孩子们经常参观博物馆以及实地考察中对学生的学习产生的帮助。

5 . Children often visit museums. Then do field trips (实地考察旅行) help students with learning?

Teachers might not see the value of art-related museum field trips.     1     He and his research team are studying how attending cultural events can help with a student’s education.

2     For this study, his team looked at 11,000 students. Students who visited an art museum were more tolerant (宽容的) and more empathetic (有同理心的). Besides, they learned a lot of content about the art they saw and developed stronger critical thinking skills about art.

Greene’s team also examined how going to a live theater performance can affect students.     3     It found that students who saw a live performance experienced improvement in tolerance and empathy. A different group of students watched a movie version (版本) of the same play. The students who saw the live performance learned the story and related vocabulary better than those who watched the movie version. Therefore, there are differences between in-person cultural experiences and digital ones. In-person cultural experiences are very important to the success at school.     4

6 . Every boy and every girl expects their parents to give them more pocket money. Why do their parents just give them a certain amount?     1

The amount of money that parents give to their children to spend as they wish differs from family to family.     2     Some children get weekly pocket money. Others get monthly pocket money.

First of all, children are expected to make a choice between spending and saving. Then parents should make the children understand what is expected to pay for with the money. At first, some young children may spend all of the money soon after they receive it. Parents are usually advised not to offer more money until it is the right time.     3

In order to encourage their children to do some housework, some parents give pocket money if the children help around the home. Some experts think it not wise to pay the children for doing that.     4

Pocket money can give children a chance to experience the three things they can do with the money. They can spend it by giving it to a good cause. They can spend it by buying things they want.     5     Saving helps children understand that costly goals require sacrifice. Saving can also open the door to future saving and investing for children.

A.Some children are good at managing their pocket money.
B.One main purpose is to let kids learn how to manage their own money.
C.By doing so, these children will learn that spending must be done with a budget(预算).
D.Because helping at home is a normal part of family life.
E.Learning how to make money is very important for every child.
F.They can save it for future use.

9 . In today's Internet age, online games can be a change from the pressure of school and work. However, they can also cause problems and unhealthy addictions. This is most clearly seen in the example of South Korea. This country has the world's highest percentage of high-speed Internet services. It has also a high number of game players who are addicted to online games.

In 2004, a young man died after playing online games almost nonstop for 86 hours. A 12-year-old boy stole $16,000 from his father to continue online games which he could not get away from. Such problems are spreading to other parts of Asia as well. In 2005, it was reported that about 80 percent of China's 13.8 million online game players were under 25.
