1 . It is quite true that nowadays more and more people have come to realize the importance of health. On the other hand, being healthier can be a huge challenge, especially if you don’t have the time or the energy.
Eat your meals with your non-dominant hand.
Which is your non-dominant hand? For example, if you’re a right-hander, then your left hand is. Usually fork in your left hand, right? OK!
Add in healthy food.
You can buy those Milano cookies, but also make an effort to buy frozen fruits for smoothies (奶昔) and snap pea crisps to snack on, too.
Drink a glass of water before every meal.
Water will fill you up a little bit, so you won’t be hungry as a wolf at meal. Make it a habit to keep a water bottle nearby at all times, whether you’re in your house or on the go. That we should drink at least 8 cups of water every day makes sense.
Drink coffee.
Right!
People who eat on smaller plates end up eating less food. Buy a few inexpensive smaller plates and bowls if yours are large. You’ll think you’ve eaten more than you have.
Besides, just stretching your legs after meals every day will help a lot more.

2 . Autonomy-supportive parenting is an approach that focuses on building a child’s sense of agency in the world as well as a strong sense of self.
Guide kids to find their own solution
As any parent with more than one child can tell you, kids develop differently.
Let kids find their own fun
Being sympathetic doesn’t mean giving in
Another characteristic of autonomy-supportive parenting is being open, curious, and flexible. Trusting children to be accountable to themselves (or acting like it) is the only way you will know if your child will be a responsible, independent adult. For example, if you ask your child when they think is the best time to do their homework, and they tell you it’s in the morning before school begins, support them and let them try it, no matter how strange it sounds.
Don’t forget to support yourself
Once you grasp autonomy-supportive parenting, you’ll see opportunities to put it into practice. No matter how old your kid is, adopting this style will not be easy.
A.It may work. |
B.Our kids don’t know how to manage boredom. |
C.That can mean we have to support them in different ways. |
D.So forgive yourself if things don’t go right on a particular day. |
E.And they may not know yet, but it’s good for them to think about it. |
F.Some days are just going to be more autonomy-supportive than others. |
G.It’s trying to understand children’s experience of what’s going on right now. |

4 . What should I do if my flight has been canceled or delayed?
Bad weather. Mechanical breakdown. Staffing shortages.
As bad as it is to find out your flight has been delayed or canceled, it’s better to find out from the comfort of home or a hotel room and make new arrangements from there.
Check your flight status before you go to the airport. Most of these notifications are not happening at the last minute. You can sign up for airlines’ free text alerts when you buy your ticket, or search for information online.
Head fast
Sometimes, the delays and cancellations happen after you’ve arrived at the airport.
Head fast as you can to the airline agents’ desk— and get ready to multitask while you’re in line. Fast is a key word here.
Be nice
Whether you’re dealing with an agent in person or over the phone, how you approach things can make a big difference. Always bear in mind “honey attracts more flies than vinegar.”You should look at this from the airline agents’ perspective.
Get Help from other airlines
A.Avoid getting trapped at the airport. |
B.That absolutely depends on yourself. |
C.Make sure that you’ve got the right flight. |
D.It’s going to make a difference who arrives first. |
E.Asking nicely is far more likely to get what you want. |
F.Cooperation between airlines could work in your favor. |
G.Some air travelers may have already faced these this year. |
5 . Whether you’ve been teaching for years or this is your first year in the classroom, there’s no doubt that finding the best strategies for school conferences can be challenging. After years of trying, I’ve come up with a few must-dos that have transformed my conferences.
Form a relationship with families before the conference
My number one school conference strategy starts long before the conference dates are scheduled. I make sure that I’ve positively connected with each student’s caregivers well before they sit down with me at conference time.
Consistent Classroom Communication
With caregivers’ varied schedules, commitments, other children, and transplantation constraints (限制), I love to be able to offer an alternative to in-person conferences. Offering a phone conference or Zoom conference option for caregivers opens up conferences to those that otherwise would not be able to get to school to meet in person. Involve students and caregivers in the conference process.
Conferences are a time for me to share data, observations, celebrations, and goals with caregivers.
A.But that’s not all |
B.The possibilities are endless |
C.Offer times to support all the families |
D.Expanded options for conference modes |
E.They’ll also make your conference a success |
F.It is key to building trust for the entire school year |
G.Regular, consistent correspondence is another strategy I use |
6 . Building relationships and working successfully with different cultural backgrounds can seem like a major challenge.
Living and working in a culturally diverse environment sometimes comes with differences of opinion and tension. People with strong cultural competence can resolve these issues creatively, even if a solution seems impossible at first. What’s more, thinking and caring about others can bring out a sense of understanding.
Cultural competence can be improved through training, education, and experience. Here are some simple tips to help you improve your cultural competence.
Assess yourself
A.Practice good manners |
B.Behave in a certain way |
C.This helps to build trust between each other. |
D.Cultural competence is critical for everyone in today’s modern world. |
E.Keep in mind that developing cultural competence is not a one-shot enterprise. |
F.But you can enjoy the rewards, while keeping dissatisfaction to a minimum. |
G.The starting point is to understand your own cultural values and world view. |

8 . Birds can serve as indicator species that help us understand how healthy an ecosystem is. Below are some tips especially helpful to reduce bird deaths and support our feathered friends in daily life.
Keep your cat indoors
Aside from habitat loss, the next biggest cause of direct death for birds is outdoor cats. We have seen people create enclosed patios, so their cats can get outside time without posing a risk to birds. If you want to take your cat out, you can also try using cat leads or cat backpacks to keep them close.
Make your windows more visible to birds
Window collisions kill up to a billion birds every year in the U.S.. A lot of people think that those collisions are occurring at the upper levels of high-rise buildings, but actually most of the collisions are occurring at the lower levels of these high-rise buildings. To make your windows more visible to birds, you can try putting up window film with dots (or lines) or adding a window screen or some kind of netting.
Turn off lights you’re not using
Many birds migrate at night. And as they go, they’re attracted by light. Lights will draw birds close to buildings, and sometimes, they collide. Bird collisions also happen during the daytime, because birds can’t see glass. So one of the things that you can help with, especially during migration, is to turn off any lights that are not used.

10 . Most students hate tests. The fear of failing them is really unpleasant.
1. Survey your textbook before you read.
Take a couple of minutes to find the word-list, index, questions and other important information. Then, when you sit down to study, you’ll know where to find the answers you are looking for.
2.
As you read, summarize each section of the chapter on a post-it note. After you have read the entire chapter, go back and review the notes. It is an easy and efficient way to review information. And you can easily find the information you need.
3. Make your own practice test.
After you finish reading, pretend you are a professor writing a test for the chapter. Review the material you just read and make up your own practice test. Include all vocabulary words, study questions, and highlighted words you can find, as well as any other important information.
4. Create visual flashcards.
Flashcards will help you remember important terms, people, places and dates. On the front of the card, write down the term or the question. This will help ensure that you grasp the study material.
A.Use sticky notes. |
B.Prepare a note book. |
C.Take the test to see if you remember the information. |
D.If all the questions are included, there is no need to worry. |
E.But there are a few tricks you can learn how to avoid the worry. |
F.On the back write down the definition or the answer. |
