2 . Brian Taylor had a successful pet grooming (宠物美容) business in New York City. “COVID-19 brought my business to a screeching halt (突然停止),” says Brian. “I had to let all my employees go. That really affected me. So as I was rebuilding my business, I felt the need to give back. I kept thinking about the restaurant industry and what they have done. Even though they were suffering themselves, they started offering meals to the people who were saving lives,” Brian continues.
“That’s when I started the Pandemic Pup Relief Fund. The idea was, whatever money a pet parent would donate would go toward free grooming for someone who couldn’t afford to have their pups done. In one month, I raised over $2,000,” Brian says.
“The satisfaction of giving help made me want to do more,” shares Brian. “I got the idea of doing a Pandemic Pup Relief Tour and put it out over social media to see if there was any interest from my colleagues to give free grooming to dogs in need. Soon, 55 professional groomers signed up to participate.” In addition, a GoFundMe account was set up and over $27,000 was raised for this amazing project.
Brian drove to each city and hosted a grooming event at a local groomer’s salon. Many of the volunteers lived within 50 miles of the locations where they signed up to help, but some came from much farther. At the NYC stop, the Diva Dogg Grooming team of eight traveled from Rhode Island. Candice of Kandi Kutz House Calls, along with a team of four, traveled from Indiana to volunteer. Some groomers from Washington, D.C. offered to travel to Wilmington, North Carolina to lend a hand at that location as well.
The first Pandemic Pup Relief Tour is now over, but it will have a lasting impact on every community they helped, and has laid the groundwork for future projects. “I think I made it fun for groomers to give back,” says Brian. “They got to connect with other groomers and learn different skill sets, as well as helping others — what could be better than that?”

Many people, sometimes myself including, tend to judge a person by his appearance.
I was afraid of my uncle who has a scary tattoo on his arm till my mother told me a “story” .When I was three-year-old naughty boy, I always ran around the neighborhood with my toy saber. Unfortunate, one day I hit a wild dog on accident. The dog became crazy and try to bite me. It was at that time when my uncle appeared and protected me with her strong arm. However, this accident left a scar on his arm. My uncle went to get a tattoo in order to cover up the scars. From that moment, he is my hero but instead of a bad looking uncle.
So we need to go beyond people's looks and focus on more internal spirits in order to truly judging a person.
5 . One night, as I was driving down the road, I found something was sitting in the middle of the road. A few seconds later, I realized I was looking at a large turtle (海龟). Afraid of it being crashed by cars, so I pulled over, ran across the road and dragged the turtle to safety. But I’d made one big mistake.
I had heard that the best way to pick up a turtle without hurting it was picking it by the tail in order not to get bitten. So I’d made that big mistake. While the turtle turned out OK generally, I was determined to figure out how to move a turtle properly. I needed to find someone who dealt with turtles. I found the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre. I talked to Dr. Sue, its Executive and Medical Director.
Dr. Sue told me that the organization dealt with a number of aspects of turtle conservation, including rescue, settlement, birth programs, research, and education. Sue explained that southern Ontario is home to a vast majority of turtles in Canada, but is also one of the vastest road networks of the country.
“Ninety percent of injured turtles brought in are caused by cars. These turtles spend a lot of time on land. And they do travel many kilometers on land for a variety of reasons, to find a nesting spot, or to hang out for the summer or winter. Turtles know where they want to go. So, just keep them going in the direction they want to go and you may have saved a turtle’s life,” Dr. Sue said.
Once an injured turtle arrives at the center, there are medical facilities (设备) ready to go, including an X-ray machine. That’s when the team gets to work with healing injuries, and help their patient.

One day when we were playing the basketball, I saw Tim wearing a pair sneaker of my style. I thought they were my shoes, so I shouted angry and blamed him for using my personal possessions without permit. Then I went back to the dorm after he could say anything. I opened the door only to find mine own sneakers just under my bed. For a while, I stood there still, shocking and guilty. When realizing my act must have hurt him, immediately I rush to the court to apology to him sincerely. Fortunately, though he was angry and sad, he pardoned me. With my relief, the conflict ended happily.
