Godzilla Kong, a science teacher from Yulee, Florida, entered panic mode when he reached the cash register at Walmart and realized his wallet was missing. Fortunately he had some small cash in the wallet to complete his purchase. But his wallet contained other necessities such as his driver's license, military ID and several bank cards. He was in extremely low spirits when he thought of the low likelihood of recovering it.
While at home preparing for tomorrow's lessons, he heard some knocks on the front door. Pulling open the door, he saw a man in rags standing before him, his right hand grasping a wallet. And Kong saw that although he was trembling because of the cold weather, there was a charming smile on his face. "You must be Mr. Kong," the unidentified man said with sparkling eyes, adding that he found his wallet at Walmart. Hearing this, Godzilla couldn't control his excitement, amazed by the stranger's willingness to personally deliver his wallet to his home. "Wow this is unbelievable! You are so…sweet!" Godzilla responded with emotions. Then the man asked Godzilla to check out the wallet and make sure everything was inside.
With a brief inspection and a beating heart, Godzilla found all the stuff was stationed inside safe and sound. "Hey, brother! Thanks a…million for returning…my wallet! You are my…guardian," Godzilla said with a choking voice, tears rolling down his face. "It's no big deal. I just did what others would have done in my position," the ragged man replied, ready to leave. But Godzilla was determined to invite this virtuous man inside to have a cup of coffee to show his gratitude, which the ragged man didn't decline.

In my double profession as an educator and health care provider, I have worked with a great many children infected with the virus that causes AIDS. The relationships that I have had with these special kids have been gifts in my life. They have taught me so many things, but I have especially learned that great courage can be found in the smallest of packages. Let me tell you about Tyler, who was a lovely and optimistic kid.
Tyler was born infected with HIV; his mother was also infected. From the very beginning of his life, he was dependent on medication to enable him to survive. When he was five, he had a tube surgically inserted in a vein in his chest. This tube was connected to a pump, which he carried in a small backpack on his back. Medications were fastened to this pump and were continuously supplied through this tube to his bloodstream. At times, he also needed supplemented oxygen to support his breathing. Once in a while he and his mother made an appointment with doctors in the hospital. This cure was a big challenge for so young a body, but Tyler never showed that he was in great pain.
Tyler wasn't willing to give up one single moment of his childhood to this deadly disease. It was not unusual to bind hím playing and racing around his backyard, wearing his medicine-laden backpack and dragging his tank of oxygen behind him in his little wagon. All of us who knew Tyler was surprised at his pure joy in being alive and the energy it gave him. It was hard to look on him as a patient. Tyler's mother often teased him by telling him that he moved so fast she needed to dress him in red. That way, when she caught a glimpse of him through the window to check on him playing in the yard, she could quickly and easily spot him.

Money Couldn’t Buy Everything
Fifteen years ago, I was born in a big family. I had been taught that money couldn’t buy everything ever since I was a little kid. My parents are the most hard-working people I have ever seen. As much as my parents tried to teach me these values, some could only be learned through personal experiences.
As a child, I would sit in the church trying to concentrate on the words of the priest (牧师),but my attention was soon attracted by the shining gold and the diamonds worn by the Saturday churchgoers. As my eyes began to wander, I noticed men dressed in their tailored suits and shirts with women in their designer dresses.
My family, on the other hand, was the opposite of rich. Our clothes had been washed so many times that the colors had become dull and lifeless. Although this showed the money struggles of our large family, our faces were always washed and hair neatly combed. When sitting on the old big red and white truck after the service, I pictured the lives led by those driving their brand-new cars, wishing I would be one of them.
I never stopped those daydreams, even when I was in middle school. Since it was a private school, most of the children came from wealthy families. Although I could hide my lack of wealth at school by wearing our school uniforms, my situation was embarrassingly obvious on weekends with my classmates wearing designer jeans and I had no choice but to wear my sisters’ old jeans. I never fitted in with my classmates. To my relief, there was only one girl named Julie who opened her heart to me. I was attached to her. Soon, her birthday was approaching. Julie invited me to attend her birthday party.

Brady was a recently retired search and rescue dog. He was not happy and missed his owner Al because Al had gone out on a rescue mission without him. Al’s nephew Steve took Brady along when he and his friend Zach went on a overnight hike. But suddenly Steve and Zach smelled something burning and they realized that lightning had set the woods on fire. Wind-blown flame had leaped from the top of one tree to another. The long dry summer had turned the forest into a tinderbox(火绒箱) and the thunderstorm wasn’t helping much. It had more wind and lightning than rain. Zach pulled Steve’s arm. “Let’s go! We can make it back to the river we crossed today.” Steve pulled Brady’s leash(皮带) and their heads down against the strong fire-wind, they hurried down the path they had followed earlier. The air was full of smoke, and pine branches broke from burning trees with a crisp sound. Steve kept his eyes on the route. All they had to do was to make it down to the river…
Brady barked a sharp warning. Ahead of them lay a dense curtain of smoke across the path. They’d never make it through that. They would have to find another escape route. The dog was pulling at his leash trying to draw them away from the smoke. This was what Brady was trained to do, and yet Steve was uneasy. It seemed to him they were moving away from the river.
Brady lifted his head and smelled the smoky wind. Suddenly, the dog ran away and disappeared. The boys yelled and shouted for him,but he didn’t come back.
They had no choice but to leave him behind. Heartsick, Steve and Zach went up aslope(斜坡). He couldn’t blame Brady for panicking and escaping. He himself wanted to run even though he didn’t have a clue which way. They hadn’t gone far when there was a familiar bark, and Brady came running toward him.
Paragraph1:
“Where’ve you been?” Steve cried.

One evening I was resting in a cafe. I wore a pair of newly bought white leather shoes, which were rather expensive. Then a boy came to me.
He was in an unfit shirt, looking pale and about eleven. At sight of my new leather shoes, his big eyes were bright with hope. No sooner had I begun to speak than he opened the box in his hand and took out the tools of shoe-polishing. He quickly bent down, took off my leather shoes, and began to shine them.
He was busy doing his work when heavy rain began to pour down. People rushed to the café for shelter from the rain. More and more people crowded in and gradually separated the boy from me before I realized it. Hours passed, and it turned dark. I had no shoes on my feet and wondered where the boy had been. I thought he would not return my expensive shoes, and I would have to go home on my bare feet.
When it was near midnight the rain ended, and there were fewer and fewer people in the café. The café was to be closed. I had to move slowly to the door, head lowered. Just as I went to the gate, was surprised to find that a boy of about eleven, looking very familiar, was sleeping at the door with his head leaning against a box and his upper body being bare. He was holding a package made of his shirt tightly in his arms.

Last summer, I went to Los Angeies to visit my cousin, Mike. Mike and I were very close and could share any secret with each other. He was a little naughty sometimes although my uncle -Mike’s dad, was very strict with him.
One day, my uncle had been outside chatting with us while he was smoking a cigarette (香烟). Then my aunt called him into the house. He left his cigarette on the front door steps so he could continue smoking it when he came back out
Mike was curious to see what smoking was really like, so he picked up the cigarette to check it out. He held it between two fingers as if he were an experienced smoker and asked me if I had ever smoked before, “No way,” I said in a loud voice, “Never let my dad know about it, or he’ll beat me up,” he said. I couldn’t believe what he did next. Mike put the cigarette in bis mouth and sucked (吸) in smoke. The next thing you know, he was coughing his head off. He looked like he was about to throw up, but he still reached his hand out toward me to offer me the cigarette “Come on, try it.” he said. “It won’t hurt you. I think smoking is really cool.”
I stood there, having no idea whether I should have a try. Then I remembered this advertisement that I had seen on TV. There was a lady who was an addicted to cigarettes that she had got really sick. But she still couldn’t stop smoking. They had to cut a hole in her throat for her to breathe, and she was still smoking through the hole! It made me feel sick. I did not want my cousin to be like that at all!
